That was like a scrapyard fire near me several years ago and the smoke was everywhere and poisonous but we put wet cloths over our faces to breathe and it was barely mentioned on the news.
My neighbor does scrap metal and it looks to me like he has to pretty much remove all of that stuff that's not metal before he goes off to the junkyard.. it's criminal that they allow this kind of potential disastrous energy to just sit, waiting for trouble, according to Murphy's Law
I live a couple of miles from their. The issue is its not the first time it caught fire. It happened earlier this year. And its so bad it you can smell the fumes all the way in downtown Bradenton. I sure hope someone goes to jail for the repeat offenders
Was that water or fire retardant towards the end? Man what a mess either way.. look to me like the spray foam the way it was pooling up around the base of the piles
Wouldn't an air water drop be indicated? They don't seem to be doing much with their hoses.. SMH.. supposing they would have to drop something even way more toxic like forever chemicals? Or it wouldn't be fun?
if it burns that much that pile is more then a bunch of scrap as steal and other misc metal does not burn like that . what else could be considered scrap that would also burn ?
If this is a consistent event then this is a business violating all sorts of ordnances, environmental and safety standards, probably burning off all the toxic junk in one big mass and probably eventually going to contaminate the ground water too. Seriously bad neighbor stuff going on here.
I bet they are deliberately stacking it too high so spontaneous combustion burns off all the contaminates it looks like they are in compliance, but they probably have all the hard to dispose of stuff that will burn packed in the bottom and coated with enzymatic cleaners. I know woodchip and compost piles can only be stacked to a certain depth or you get a fire by the natural decay temperatures that build up.
Windshear, accuracy, and a ton of anything impacts like a ton. Airdrops drop a thousand gallons per minute if you line up planes like landing at La Guardia. One pump and hose for 100,000$ gives you the same and it is more effective. Waterdrops have been known to destroy vehicles underneath them, I have no idea of what it would do to the neighbors houses on either side, but there would be windows out at least.

Just drove by it. Damn!! Smoke is covering the sky! That’s crazy!
Looks like more of an along Shore smoke path, then an offshore one
No scrapping today Mike!

Probably something with a lithium battery we have 3 here all had something to do with batteries
Its beautiful 😮

No sound wtf
They dropped a wet car onto the pile. This is horrible. TOXIC fumes filling our airs.
I guess we're getting China's scrap. They're closing up shops in China so they're sending them here. Toxicity is overwhelming their foods, lands.
Water is not even reaching the flames

Foam and res-i-deeeww, it damps the fire from spreading, but it is almost certainly toxic.

It could be insulation on wires, electronics, plastic, paint.

It would be nice to listen to snap crackle pop...just like fireplace around Christmas time.
Weak as video
plus de vidéo incendie c'est super
It's stupid that air drops aren't used more often There's many situations that they could be utilized but aren't
