For those wondering, by definition snow mana is mana from a snow source. The mana from Vorinclex comes from himself, not the land so it’s not snow. Permanents that add an extra mana when a land is tapped won’t add snow. Conversely, if a snow land is given the ability to tap for extra mana, that mana will be snow.
I immediately crafted this, I’ve tried to make stickfingers before and it turned out alright but the idea of running so few creatures never occurred to me. This is a work of art man!
After quitting Arena two months ago because of the boredom in standard, i start to think giving historic brawl a try. It requires so much less mythic/rare cards as you just need just one of them each time. Seems the best way for players who don't wan't to put too much money into the game.
I really appreciate the fact that you always concluded your line of thought, even if the match is already over. Interesting deck, wish I had the wilds to craft it! Keep it up!
Hi lvd. I don’t know if you’ll see this, but I just want to tell you, that after I started watching you, listening to your tips, I went from silver to platinum. Love your videos!
I started playing MTGA with the beginning of the pandamic (I never played Magic before). Because of LegenVD, CGB and BenS I reached #11 in Constructed and #29 in Limited. They are great teachers. I also started making my own Magic videos.
This commander is so slept on in a deck like this. It's so consistent at what it does and is so difficult to stop even with graveyard exiles, because it's also selective and has tons of instant responses. Was planning to build something similar so I'm so glad to see I was onto something!
Like the deck a lot. I'm looking forward to play brawl and i like golgari dimir sultai and esper so i'm looking through your decks. Good stuff as always
@@LegenVD Thank you for taking the time to answer! I'll never be able to properly express my gratitude. Almost all decks I've played these last 2 years are either yours or inspired by you. You're the main reason I'm enjoying MTG so much. Currently rocking your Historic Praetor Reanimator deck and now will finally try Brawl! 💟
Speaking of the party during the last game I just realized I never saw a party brawl deck and this would be my idea for a future video. I saw the party standard video you made just after the release of the set sporting this mechanic and was amazed by the synergies making barely/unplayable otherwise cards shine. I don't recall having seen anything similar using party ever since... Keep rocking and kudos to your patreons for supporting the channel !
Remember building one on stream a while back, although perhaps before the switch to 100 cards. Was an option on the Patreon poll too at some point, so will add it back if it's requested.
At 37:10, what was the reason for going for Colossus over Ulamog? It felt a little risky with only two cards in hand and only one land. A faster clock if it paid off?
Saw a deck similar to this that only ran a commander, transmogrify-like spells, and over 90 lands with cultivator colossus. I used a single spell to wipe out colossus, but little did I know the bastard also built in a bunch of gates and Maze's end as a backup plan.
2:09 - regarding turning this into a Colossus combo deck, I think that's actually the better (although less fun to watch) version. You pointed out that if they remove the Colossus, you're basically dead. However, if you only run a few reanimation spells, the Colossus, and have the rest be a bunch of lands, you're guaranteed to keep drawing reanimation off the Colossus, so they have to exile it. And even if they do, I've found that a copy of Torment of Hailfire + a copy of Dig Up means that you can just cast Torment for x=40 and win. I've also been running a copy of Veil of Summer, but I'm admittedly much less sure on that one.
@@01Beep Old Stickfingers as the commander of course, then Dig Up, Veil of Summer, Blood for Bones, Bond of Revival, Cauldron's Gift, Edgar's Awakening, Return Upon the Tide, Unbreakable Bond, Diregraf Rebirth, Cultivator Colossus, and Torment of Hailfire, as well as 88 lands (as many as possible should be dual lands, and run stuff like Lair of the Hydra, Khalni Garden, Castle Locthwain, and Radiant Fountain). Mull until you hit a reanimation spell, although I find that I'm taking on average about 1 mull per game.
I copied the deck but missed some rares. One of the replacements I added was `Finale of Devastation` and the first match I played I had 3 created of 35/35 on the battlefield with haste. What a treat! Hahaha!
Haha I just watched this video and literally an hour later I was playing vs Stickfingers... In my opening hand I had bojeku Bog and Sentinel Totem. I got to drop Bog on t3 killing their Vorinclex and cultivator (in the GY) and Crack the totem on t4 killing their Ulamog and they scooped .. Dream counter hand. Cool looking deck this though I think ill have to try it too.
6:53 Maybe makes more sense to keep Sheoldred on defense? Only has two creatures so no matter what they sac if she is blocking they can't use the Ninjutsu ability baring a Hasty 1 drop in hand.
Staying back is reasonable. A one mana bounce spell is still a possibility. If Sheoldred survives we can handle most things they can Ninjutsu either way.
It's way dumber than that. Snow mana is any type of mana produced by a snow source and isn't a type of mana. Vorinclex produces 1 mana every time a land produces mana, but Vorinclex isn't snow so the extra mana added isn't snow mana. This also goes the other way, where if you tap a Mech Hanger for Black mana, the extra mana Vorinclex makes doesn't have to be spent on pilots or vehicles.
It might actually be working correctly. Snow Mana has to come from a Snow Source, which Vorniclex is not, and since he is adding the Mana, it would not be snow mana since it is the Mana tracking where it came from. Very weird, but likely right in this case.
9:40 "Snow Mana" has no special properties outside of considering snow mana costs. Mana types are still being defined as only WUBRG and colorless. Calling mana produced by snow permanents as "Snow Mana" usually creates a misconception that is new type of mana when it is just a WUBRG / colorless mana with the ability to pay for snow mana costs. Magic rules can be confusing sometimes
He was talking about paying the cost to activate the Faceless Haven, which requires snow mana, so at the time stamp you provided “Snow Mana” does indeed have a special property
I'm confused. How is it that whenever you cast Stickfingers, you've always got your bombs in the top 2 or 3 cards? They're never at the bottom of the deck?
That may be the animation showing the creatures over the other revealed cards. He never opened the "revealed cards" window, so we can't really tell how many cards were actually revealed
Love your content, man. But I've passed through 9 adds halfway to the end of this vid. Will you keep that way from now on? Cause I like to watch Magic vids while I shower or do the dishes, and it was not fun to keep stoping every 2min.
I'm still on board the Historic Brawl and loving every station
