Congratulations to Sadie. She's been outstanding for years but this year is coming all together and should continue to be special.
She’s a junior rn and the national record was 4:33 for outdoor. Also she has run way fast than 4:38 in the past multiple times she just ran 4:34 at Arcadia idk what these announcers were talking about but alr hua
They have never seen such a goated junior runner
I was just about to comment this. Katelyn Tuohy was the national record holder for the mile and it was only 6 or 7 years ago, not 1982 😭
Now, THAT was impressive! No pacing, no competition! She basically just ran a 4:31 time trial! That last lap was brutal, but she pushed through it. With a couple more races and some competition, she could probably go 4:27 or better.
yeah she ran a 4:09 1500m last month beating several pro runners which is the equivalent of a 4:29 mile--real impressive that she ran a 4:31 solo!
She made the Olympic standard mile.
Do they run the mile at the Olympics? What time is the standard
@@DonShields-ud8cf No, they run the 1,500m, which is slightly more than 100m less than a mile. Women's Olympic qualifying standard is 4:06 for 1,500m, which converts to about a 4:24 mile.
Not quite hitting the standard
This was terrific to see live tonight.
Arcadia Invite and Mt Sac Invite have been amazing to watch Engelhardt race.
Looking forward to an Englehardt - Leachman match up.
The announcers need to do their collective homework. As stated above, Sadie is a Junior in High School. She has declared early….
fr they called her a senior😭
Wow! What a fantastic performance.
amazing... no pacers, no pace lights and no competition whatsoever and she still breaks it. this was basically a time trial.
13 girls under 5:00 in a single race?
When I was in high school we were lucky to see one girl break 5:00 at the state championships.
Not surprized she did 4:31.72 because her previous 4:09.70 1500m is equivalent to 4:27.
OMG, that was a solo run from the gun. WOW!!!
43 years of watching track and field, and that was one of the most impressive h.s. races i've seen, but hands-down the worst commentary i've ever heard for what should have been a marquee h.s. race that evening. do your homework--get her year right, get the records right, and how could they NOT know that she was chasing a national record, NOT a meet record? but maybe dumbest thing said is 2:10 in: that dude on the infield is NOT her coach! and what would he tell her that she doesn't already know 500m in? smh...
IKR?! At 2:25 they also say its gonna hurt 300-400m in, which it definitely shouldn't if you're running a mile...
You are spot on....
At the end of the first lap, Sadie Engelhardt looked like Wonder Woman, leading a pack of little girls.
Nice race from Sadie for sure! She's full on lethal up to that 1,600 distance, lots of power in her. Interesting to see Rylee Blade in this race though, she's kind of the opposite and is more finesse over power. I think she could be a NCAA 10k champ her junior/senior year with a consistent trajectory. Sadie could break more than a few records at college though.
Could also get lapped at least once by Leachman in an NCAA 10k
@@DocsTranscriptAudio It's possible. I like Leachman, she should be really fun to watch the next couple of years. However, I'm not banking on her to be running sub 30 for the 10k. Maybe, but probably not. It'll be interesting to see how she handles hitting the inevitable plateau that she will hit in the next several years. Still, I think she has tremendous upside!
Laurie Henes (and the rest of the Wolfpack) have to be bouncing off the walls today.
Great run. Strong 4 laps!!
OK.....that was GOOD. This is why she runs with pros.
Dang shes faster than most college women.
Is that Jackie Joyner-Kersee announcing?????
Next Touhy?
This gal looks to have matured way faster than the other girls. She's bigger than a lot of College Seniors. How is she ?
In any event, 4:31.72 is a sick time regardless.
The announcers kept saying she’s a senior. She’s only a junior in high school and has one more year
I said this last year that in her junior year she would break the national record. Great job! Congratulations!
Anyone know how to watch it livestream tomorrow ?
Absolutely 4:28 neighborhood with Pacer or teammate on her shoulder. Henes has Tuohy 2.0 if not better. Congrats Sadie!!!
Ax?
Incredible athlete.
Sadly commentators were uneducated about her and the sport and what was happening.
Seems LARGE 4a mile distance champ... W 0 W!!!🎉😮
she is only a junior... do your homework......
these guys commentating should not......
She’s my cousins bff my cousin is number 3
And her hematocrit is only 65!
Huh??? She looked like she's was jogging
thats how long distance looks like. but its always faster than it looks
Oh wow! Sadie, awesome run. From Ray in New Zealand
