Pros
Folding drone for portability.
Brushless motors
Takes 4K (4096 x 3072 pixel) photos, and 2K (2048 x 1090 pixel @ 25fps) video with no fisheye effect!
Includes three axis stabilized gimbal.
GPS and optical flow sensors for stable hover.
Automatic return to home and landing capability on command, loss of signal, and low battery.
Larger 3400mah 2S battery provides up to 28 minute flight time. The battery is also interchangeable with all of the three versions of the SG906 (i.e. you can use the 2800 and 3400mah batteries with all three). I got close to 21 minutes in this review flight, similar to the flight time that I got with the smaller 2800 battery. But I was flying on a very breezy day which may have reduced the flight time of the 3400mah battery.
Up to 600 meter control and FPV range.

Cons
Weighs well over 250 grams, and will require registration in most countries.
Although you can still record video and photos with out the app, use of the app for FPV and advanced flight modes requires a phone with 802.11ac WiFi capability. Not all phones have 802.11ac WiFi. To avoid disappointment and before purchasing, it is very important to first verify that your phone does indeed have 802.11ac WiFi.
App's optical follow me feature did not work. Also GPS follow me was somewhat inaccurate.
Although with three axis gimbal, I did not see much dampening of the video when turning the drone. The video still seemed to besimilar to that of a two axis drone. Also noticed some jello in the video.
Low battery warning and geofence comes on very early in flight. In this review, it activated at 11 1/2 minutes, restricting the remainder of the flight to less than 20 meters from takeoff. The drone still had another 9 minutes of flight time remaining before it had to land on depleted battery.
Remote up and down movement of the camera lens is very jerky.
And finally the optional megaphone speaker is very short range, and very distorted.

I wanted a not so ridiculously priced GPS drone, so I bought this. I got the bag and three batteries. Works great. The 3 axis gimbal is great. Slightly breezy days are no problem. For the money, not a bad deal at all.

Good review Q101. Love the way the video stay 'flat' instead of the large curved horizons you get with these 120 degree cameras. 3 xis gimbals always a bonus too. Tc mate.
Hi there nice vid. When the quad and the controller are connected. Go into settings, top left corner of the phone screen, and get out of beginner mode and the range will go out to around 900m. You can tweek by going in and out of B mode and slide the slider up to 2000M You can get greater range, say 1270M typical. Also the batteries need to be charged a few times to get around 20m fly time. It comes back with a bit left in the tank if you want to risk it. Cheers.

I have the Pro 1 version and i get about 17-18 mins of real flight time before low battery warning. I did upgrade the internal antennas for the video to a PCB and an external stubby. I get around 800 meters for the video now. It's a good drone for the price. Good review.

@@fasum3683 search eBay for 2pcs 2.4G /5.8G dual band antenna 8dbi high gain internal PCB aerial for wifi. It's the first one that shows up. It's yellow. The 906 pro has two antennas in each front arm for the 5.8 GHz video. I installed one of the PCB internally and ran the stubby 5.8 GHz on top where the beast logo is. There are a few TH-cam videos on how to disassemble. I usually get around 400 to 500 meters in a residential area. Oh yeah it's best to leave the antennas in the arms as It wasn't worth the trouble to remove them. I also replaced the transmitter antenna using a WiFi router antenna.

FACT: These 7.6 3400 mAh batteries will work in an original SG906. The 7.4 2800 mAh batteries will NOT work on a Pro 2 (They're too long). I know. I own two of each. 2 - SG 906 & 2 - SG 906 Pro(s) and lots of extra batteries.
Hey question for you does the pro 2 seem slow to you compared to the original beast ?
I'd just like to point out that at 22:20, you begin a compass calibration.
It appears that you turn the drone counterclockwise, rather than "clockwise".
I believe the manual says that the drone is to be turned "clockwise", for both horizontal, and vertical positions, in order to calibrate the compass.

You are incorrect to say the batteries are interchangeable, they are not. I have the SG906 and the Pro 2 version just arrived. Whilst the batteries look similar the batteries for the SG906 do not fit the Pro 2. Important point for subscribers to know in case you buy with the intention of swapping batteries.
they just brought out a bloody SG 908 3-axis with 800metre wifi and 1200 metre control range thats the same price as the SG 906 pro.
im absolutely gutted because it came out a couple of days after the 906 pro i ordered from banggood shipped.

The pro 2 has a much better Sony camera . CMOS and high power Wifi with greater range. The jello can be removed and the Google photo app stabiliser works a treat.

TC 41:12 The Mega-phone option ship-to-shore sounded like a sci-fi movie when bad comms are needed for cinematic / dramatic effect.
I was surprised to see it toilet bowl upon take off, but it seemed to settle down after a bit. The video is a bit soft, perhaps due to low bit rate. Not a fan of a gimbal that goes in 'steps'. The camera doesn't seem to have a good dynamic range, as your initial view of the tree line was too dark to make out any detail (washed out by the bright sun). I've had a few of those "magnetic interference" warnings pop up on various craft, but it was usually because I was taking off from a bridge that had metal in it, or a roadway with re-bar in it. Even with its peculiarities, its probably still a better choice than the 'new' Syma X50, which still uses brushed motors (and costs the same as the brushless craft). Eh .. for $200 it would be a good starter video UAV. Oh, the pictures were pretty decent. Cheers!

In the Hfun app, the little star icon next to the battery is the geomagnetic interference indicator. Green is normal and yellow is not good. Orange or Red means fly somewhere else. I noticed your app was showing some orange.

Please HELP!!!! Anybody knows how to place the metal bolts in the jog holes? I tried several times to insert but its impossible... I don't want to make too much pressure and damage the control. Thanks
You have to add more pressure. I had the same problem until I got my grandson to do it. He just said, "more muscle gramps".
Think i'll wait a bit longer and see what comes out, this pro 2 version doesn't bring much to the table.

At the 22:30 mark you re-calibrated your Compass...you said you were spinning it Clockwise...but you were spinning it CounterClockwise !

I have one. First time I flew it went into the toilet bowl effect and almost landed on the roof. Second time I flew I took it out into a large open field. No toilet effect, but only went 300 feet or so before dropping signal. Video was also Rey delayed even with it only 100 feet away. Gimbal is ok but nowhere near a mavic mini. Had I paid $50 for this I would be ok, but for 189 dollars with two batteries I will try and send it back. Don’t waste your money on this thing unless you are only flying in a small yard and don’t care about the video lag.
Forgot to mention the sticks that insert into the remote are press fit. Had to push extremely hard (as in afraid I would break the remote) just to get them in fare enough to stay. I really wonder now about all the reviews I see on low cost drones and if people get paid to do these.
I can't flight more than 13-14 minutes... Low battery comes on and drone return back...is any way to disable the low battery feature??
It seems, sw is not fully customized for SG-960xxxx . Recording is till recorded to phone via Wifi (although recording is in SW disabled)=> in this time is picture freezed.

Thanks for your review ! Just got my SG906 Pro 2 yesterday. Works beautifully and quite intitutive to use. Only my images and videos are being stored in my phone gallery and not on the SD Card. The card is formated on my laptop and I can use it easily with my laptop. Am I missing a setting ?
Yes, make sure that the card is less than 32GB, but Class 10 or U1/U3 write speed. The drone will not recognize 64GB or larger cards.

I have a question, I have the SG PRO for over two months now, suddenly it does not take pictures. When I want to see the pictures he shows me black, the video works great.
I have the same problem but I think you need to hit the camera button on the far right of your receiver.

3 questions: 1 in which format should the sd be formatted? (in the manual it is not mentioned I tried to format it fat32 but the drone does not write to it) 2. which is the official website of the manufacturer?

I used fat32. You might want to try a different card. Don't know the answers to questions 2 or 3.
Also make sure that the card is 32GB or less. The card reader may not recognize high capacity cards.

Hi great review i have just bought the same drone, very impressed with it. A quick question as im new to this sort of thing, when i download the flight footage it only downloads the video !! how do you download the flight video with all the flight information that you see on the phone app such as height speed distance controls ect like you have in the bottom right corner of your review ? .

Yes, this returns with plenty of time remaining on the battery (perhaps too much remaining time).

I won't go into it but I had to buy a new drone. I just went with the "drone only" option seeing as I had everything else from my first purchase.
Anyway, I turn drone on, turn remote on, turn wifi on, phone connects to drone wifi, I turn on app but when I hit calibration it says "please connect to device first". Everything seems to be working fine up until that point. Any ideas?

Nice review ... I have a problem.. my phone is Xiaomi 7..and is 4g.. when I'm going for searching for my wifi... I don't see my drone. I don't found in my wifi settings.. which means I can't connect with the drone... and now what? I must buy a new phone with 5g..please help me!!!!
You are confusing phone data networks with WiFi. They are two different things. This drone requires a phone that is capable of using 802.11ac WiFi. Unfortunately, your Xiaomi Redmi 7 can only use 802.11b/g/n WiFi, and will not work with this drone.

The latest version of the HFun Fly app does have some camera settings including exposure, brightness, contrast, and white balance (auto, sunny, cloudy, night).

@@driewiel I really don't know how. I checked and do all calibration before flying it. I only have 20-30 alt. and 5m distance when my drone starts to turn around and start to move even I don't control it.
@@AJayChannel Sorry to hear this. Maybe you did something wrong? But sometimes yes they do fly away. Have you tried getting your money back? Always try.
Many SG906 have been sold. People seem to be happy with it. So I wouldn't write the model off just because this happened. SG906 Pro and Pro 2 are really cheap for what you get. And please don't buy anything before you watched a couple of honest reviews!

Hello my friend. I need to pick your brain again. It's your fault. You really seem to know what's what when it comes to quads ( you know I can't call em drones because they're not), but anyway.
Do you know of any way to add an auxiliary on-board diagnostics system or module to this quad?
I realize it probably has enough, but I don't know yet. I ordered mine last night after watching your videos on this bird.
I hope Iike it as much as you do. You've never steered me wrong before ( other than the Cheerson X333. And THEY changed the mother board between the one you purchased and the one, or two rather, that I ordered. No big deal, I got all my money back.

How do you turn on the camera or video...All we have is black screen on our phone. We have tried every button but nothing just says not connected...we can fly it but it's very difficult while not seeing any video. Is there a diagnosis function or anything to verify camera isn't defective. Thanks
See the above video from 6:45 to 7:25. Then Google your phone's model name, and the terms 802.11 and specifications. See if 802.12ac WiFi shows up in the search results.

Well, then next question. Did you first turn on your drone, and then open the WiFi settings of your phone? Next look for the drone's WiFi signal, and connect to it (the same way as connecting to your home WiFi). After you're connected to the WiFi signal, then open the app to see if you have video.
@@Quadcopter101 Yes, we actually have no problem connecting to the drone wifi and it will actually fly with the phone but we just can't see anything on any phone we have tried it on. We tried the gimbal calibration you talked about on the video and it seems the gimbal mechanism is limp doesn't move or try to calibrate. Thanks again for all your help.

Are you flying it professionally? If not, you don't need to register under Part 107. Instead select "recreational flier" here (no serial number needed). faadronezone.faa.gov/#/

drone is broadcasting 5g wifi while all mobilephones are usually capable of receiving 2.4ghz wifi. what is the solution ???

@@waqassipra7357 turn on the drone, and place it on a flat level surface. Next open your phone's WiFi settings (make sure that you have 5G WiFi turned on). Look for the drone's WiFi signal, and connect to it the same way that you would connect to your home WiFi (no password required). Next open the app. The video should now be available in the app.

No, it will not. Samsung A01 has 802.11a/b/g/n, but does not have the needed 802.11ac WiFi.
Great Videos, maybe I missed it, but if this drone (Pro2) loses contact with the transmitter does it come home automatically wthout your input, or does it need to be in contact with the transmitter?

Unfortunately, your phone does not have 802.11ac WiFi. As such, it will not connect with this drone.

@@Quadcopter101 hi thanks for the message well its only 25 meters away with both phones I do the calibration good to fly plenty of satalites 16 so much picture lag unusable and just hovers there disconecting every time S8 Samsung and the honor 20 work fine on my dji mini 2 I had a couple of sg906 the first one with the fish eye lens A OK shame really as I like the size of the drone and no problem with the other 906 drones I had two previous that friends asked me to sell them to them after doing a few flights out together very frustrating oh yea same area as the previous 906 drones flown

When I did this review two years ago, it was using the HFun Pro app available on Google Play here bit.ly/HFunProAndroid and App Store here bit.ly/HFunPro . But it may have changed in the past two years. Check your instruction manual to see what is currently recommended.
