Thanks for all the lovely comments so far all! This is a bit different to the previous video, but I want to try and provide this kind of stuff from time to time as a bit of fun! Any suggestions do let me know!
I think as a suggestion maybe a primer video on what actually is larp would be really helpful. I think people, like myself, have an idea on what it is that might be a bit ignorant. So when you explain on the first package you open that the buckles aren’t real leather and “that would be fine for cosplay.” I was confused. Is this not medieval cosplay with mass role playing in large groups? If not what are we missing? Why is it a little downing to not have the leather? I just feel as though I’m missing more too it. Love the video and your content but I am lost in the drain.
Loved the video! If you do another of this type maybe do it like a "here's what an okay entry level larp outift could look like" with like a price guide to show roughly estimates on costs
Oh Mark, you've truly outdone yourself now... The "catway" poses... the honest cringe with many of the things... I think I've never related to cringe so much while also laughing myself to tears!
"I mean you could wear these as a cosplay" Me, the one wanting to dress up like a classic flippin assassino just once for Halloween because she's way too obsessed with Ezio for her own good: *"I'm listening"*
The Ezio saga is hands down the best story arc in the AC universe so far. I have a full on crush on Ezio and Rule 63 Ezio cosplays are one of my favorite things on the internet.
@@craigbryant9925 Agree, definitely have a crush on Ezio (i also have one on Edward). which reminds me, i really should finish AC2...but i being playing other games as i don't want to finish the series too soon. :D
Keep in mind with wish and other websites they steal a photo of a real item that is either for sale for hundreds or like Bernadette Banner something made by a creative person who spent more on materials than the entire cost of the wish item and months of painstaking research and work to create a one of a kind item. Then they knock it off. So you are never seeing an actual photo of the item you are getting. You are seeing the item they gave their designer and told them "Make this, here is 5 dollars, I expect 10 thousand units ready next week".
Why is ''real'' in '' I need answers (Also you could get this www.epicarmoury.com/metal-works/complete-sets/warrior-complete-armour/c-297/p-22430/ for the same price of all that)
Well, you'd better do more videos like this, cause now I'm stuck here living and breathing for watching you model this stuff with your top-class model posing! Love it!
"You could wear this for cosplay" Me and all the other cosplayers who go for 'as screen acurate as possible' and tend to spent up to 1k on Cosplay materials: "...
Me saying an item would be good for cosplay is not diminishing any of your hard work or effort. Some folks just want to wear cheap/bought costumes for fun.
Pretty much me too and honestly you have to do this to figure out how well you can move in it and how to pose for pictures with all the pieces on the cosplay.
As a cosplayer... I'm slightly offended by the "this is ok for cosplay" comments .... BUT I love this content still! Glad you shared this with us. Keep up the great work. Edited to add that I would love a follow up to this with good quality gear. Totally here for this!
I agree. I'd like to see a comparison with well crafted w good natural materials vs this made in China stuff for under 20d. You can't even buy a t shirt for 20d anymore. The bracers were unacceptable, didn't cover your forearm at all. Yea, please follow up with some well crafted stuff!
mark, even though im not interested in larp, i've watched the whole thing. Genuine, funny, and entertaining. Glad to see you outside the DM scenario as well. Keep up the nonsense xD
I was like... man, what were you expecting, but then THE DRESS happened. Totally worth watching. I use wish extensively for crafting materials (wool, beads, hooks, etc...) and small accesories and so far got things with good quality/price ratio. Guess it is a matter of what you want to buy.
I think my favorite model moves that Mark pulled off were the "I'm fighting with weapons, but I can be sexy while I do it." The "Look at these tears in my crappy dress. Aren't they lovely?" And finally "The Spank". Great work as always Mark 😂
The whole dress bit was already making me laugh but as soon as I saw the rips in the sleeves I lost it. I haven't laughed that hard at a video in a while. 10/10
Gambeson honestly looks iffy. Might work for an event or two, but definitely I'd not sew any arming point to it (although it looks so thin it could actually be easy xD) Original could very well be 200 euros, tho xD if the image is to be believed, it's HEMA-grade and that stuff's expensive. The pouch's closing system looks... questionable xD (especially for somebody like me who uses gauntlets) Cloak doesn't look as bad as it could have been, tho! The chestpiece looks unexpectedly legit!
I'm loving the new channel. A lot of the D&D channels I watch are quite serious in their tone so I'm loving the more relaxed and funny tone of yours. Good job!
Great tone-setter for the new channel! This makes me very glad that I already knew to avoid wish when I was getting stuff for my first Empire last year. Although I still have a long way to go in improving what I've got.
I'd just got a mouthful of tea when you did that turn in the elf costume to show us the ripped shoulders. It's lucky I've got good self control or that could have gone badly for my laptop. I'm not going to lie though, it was a close one.
I don't know mate, these items look pretty accurate to the medieval era. Cheap, made out of stuff you find in your barn and already dirty from your cows 😂 Very enjoyable video, keep them coming!
No the usual content I watch on here, but great none the less! Your reactions to the Wish products were great! TH-camr Bernadette Banner made a whole rant video about sites like Wish taking her photos of her hand made medieval gown and using it to sell the cheap knock offs like what you got. Thanks for the content! I'm looking forward to checking out the rest of your stuff!
The "leather" stuff looks like something for a bedroom roleplay :D But I am thinking about buying the gambeson as a jacket. It's cheaper than normal ones and doesn't look half bad! And you looked really good in the wig, elf ears and crown! :D
I got their "gambeson" a couple years ago. Slightly different design then but basically the same thing. The one I got had a really nice satin lining, a high collar, and once I added in gussets under the arms and adjusted where the straps were tbh it was a freaking excellent winter jacket. It looked cool and crushed down pretty small. Took a bit of work to get it where I wanted it, but for.. I think I paid around $34 with the shipping, I was happy. Do the thing! Have fun with it, you'll look rad!
"These are like child wrists" Me: looking at my wrists, where I can reach the bottom of a Pringle's tube "LIKE A GLOVE." Edit: Nice to see the chaos you inspire, Mark asdfghjkl
Love the video, getting into the clothing and gear is something really interesting (and expensive) about Larp. Also are you gonna go back to doing any event recap or storytime videos once events start happening again? Or is it not your thing any more
I wonder if you could cheat with some of this. Like replace the buckles on the padded shirt would be cheap and you could use it with nicer gear. Same with the using thin shirts and pants under some nice chaps and leather armor to reduce heat to sort of bootstrap your LARP
Dude this is the first video of you I see, and it's awesome. I've hesitated so many times to buy on wish, and I must say I'm definitely not surprised of what you got... except that plate. Now what surprises me even more is that you got your "real" leather armor for a 100pounds, given how here on the continent it's closer to a few hundreds when you leave Epic Armoury's safehaven... Will subscribe!
I'm so happy to see more LARP content from you I started watching from your first empire larp video and been wanting some more vids. the video was a laugh aswell seeing u doing like a mini cat walk type thing was hilarious.
Great video,I made the mistake of buying a few things from Wish for Empire,Wasted money as never going to use any of it lol,Great video and A+++ for all that mincing around and poses lol,Keep this kinda content coming.
Can tell right away how much fun you are having! May take awhile to build traction with this being a new channel but I sincerely hope it does, fun and educational to watch.
So I subscribed, the history and fantasy lover in me wants to hear more because I honestly don’t know as much as I would like to about either. (Also, really cool that you said female presenting. Idk why that caught me so off guard, but it did.)
"They're paaaants" LOL I had to go back and listen to that a few times and it got me every time! First time watching this channel/creator and I love it!!
This video does a good job of showing that you need to be skeptical when it comes to buying anything from Wish, LARP-related items or other things. I've personally had more good luck than bad, but most of what I've bought has been jewelry and small items, less so when it comes to more specific items. I still buy things from the site but make sure to scrutinize what items I'm interested in buying. As far as LARP stuff goes, it's a mixed bag much like what your purchases showed.
Photos can be misleading which is why I always try to buy from sites I know I can trust & have bought items from before. Amazon is a good one, have yet to have any sorts of problems from them. I stay away from sites like Ebay, Wish, discount sites that offer "the same stuff" as other pricier websites. This is a nice video about being careful where you buy things & doing plenty of research before committing to a purchase. Having a title that includes numerous key words instead of actually stating what the product is and the size is a big red flag I've learned over the years. If the title isn't to the point and the sizing isn't listed right on the page, DO NOT BUY. That's the seller trying to pull one over on the buyer by making them think they've gotten a great deal when in reality they've been cheated. And good luck trying to return the item or get any response from the seller! Once they know they've cheated you, they'll do everything they can to NOT refund you or take the item back (something else I've learned).
The best bit of this was the excitement from Mark over the leather armor, only to watch that excitement slowly drained from is soul as it turned to bitter disappointment over his supposed elvish dress.
This was great! As the parent of a teen who is just starting in local LARP where they embrace cardboard armour... this was really helpful. Ok the rules for Empire may be strict but ours aren't so I can buy him good stuff for Christmas and actually if he wants to buy the grievers or tiny wrist things... it won't cost him a fortune and it is good enough for what he needs.
This was a great watch! I've always wanted to get a really good costume for RPing but alas being quite introverted have never really looked into LARPing. That being said maybe in the next year or so I will take the plunge and finally get something, looking forward to your video detailing the right stuff to get. Hopefully it will apply internationally (am in Canada), for the good places to check out and order from!
Someone needs to make a gif of him slapping his rump in that dress. Honestly, I'm pleasantly surprised. I've actually seen a lot of those items advertised and the majority of them are far better than I expected. Obviously I don't know how they fit or feel but visually they look OK. Not incredible but OK. The grieves can't be saved. That's going straight to the tip. But everything else is salvageable. Even that dress, as awful as it is, could be usable as a base for cosplay of you're just looking for a basic dress shape to heavily adorn. Everything else has potential and could be adapted to look pretty good if you like making your own costumes but don't really have the showing skill to make the article of clothing but you have the crafting skill to improve it, then great. Not sure how affordable it will be in the end but at least it will be unique and it's a fairly cheap way to slap together an outfit to try out your first LARP or 2 before you're sure you want to commit a lot more money to something better. Where I live though, you're lucky if you ever get it. I still have at least half a dozen items that I ordered through WISH that apparently made it to our docks but then disappeared so I'll rather use AliExpress or something where I can select my shipping options and avoid our thieving postal service.
I never knew there were so many different ways of being uncomfortable. So thanks for that Mark. I would like to see what you could get ahold of from a proper retailer, so if you find the time. Nice to see you on youtube again. :)
i love this video really made me laugh, youve done the cosplay/larp community a huge service with video, i look at this stuff on wish and think bet that'll be shit, and yes thanks to your video its nice to if it is or isnt thanks alot, love the rpg stuff in the background btw dude ... peace
You know, I'm looking at these and thinking they'd be great to tear apart and use as patterns for making your own gear with much higher quality materials.
Lolol ... I bought that leather gladitorial boot thingys, too, and I was just as disappointed and surprised by the sheer audacity. I have got some pretty cool items from wish (a white brimmed leather head with some rivets for a plague doctor outfit, that was exeptionally well made), but it is always hit or miss.
Maybe there's something about plague doctors. I bought a mask and it was actually really high quality. Not perfect but it's better than most of their products.
honestly, you could make a pretty hilarious character out of that look with the dress and crown. I like to imagine a new-ish magician that likes to scam people but one scam went too far and oops... killed some royalty. so in their panic they tried to shape shift into said royalty so no one would know what happened until they quietly slipped away. but the spell went bad and the transformation didnt go so well. They now permanently look like this and cant change clothes as the transformation has fused them to their body. They still are sneaky and try to trick people, but is now taken a lot less seriously.
This was a very fun and good video! Scripted, pre-written Mark is very good for tutorials; but do you know what? I like this Mark, too. Keep up the good work.
Such great modeling poses and what a catwalk strut!! 🥰 I also approve. Plus - what a great way to show “Buyer Beware”..... *Wish.com*, I “wish” they were as portrayed on the website.

I would like to see a video of where to buy proper larp stuff, how much it would cost, and what to buy
funny stuff!
I suspect that this whole video was just an excuse for Mark to wear a dress and a crown and I approve very much.
You think Mark needs an excuse to wear a dress and crown?
He really rocks it tho
Don't reveal my secrets!
Mark, you look wonderful 🤣
I suspect that this whole video was just an excuse for us to love mark in a dress and a crown 🤣

at least he didn't say 'runwalk'

love a fine elvish princess who can just absolutely hulk out of her dress
Got total Merida vibes from it :D

I want to see the outtakes where Mark knocks stuff over while swishing around the cloak and Nina comes to yell at him
I want to see the out take where Nina reacts to Mark in that dress then laughs at him trying to get out of it.
I kinda imagine him sitting on the couch in it, having a pint, waiting for someone to come home and help him get out of it.

cosplay does not need to survive mud and rain, nor running downhill through brush and thorn while being chased.
Cosplayers arnt stuck out in the rain and mud for 3 days straight
maybe she's born with it, maybe the dress is ripping
at the seam at that. the dress is dead i don't think that can be fixed with any potion.

I love how seriously you take the whole catwalk/showing off the clothing. I needed this today.
I would personally love to hear about your recommendations for where a beginner should go to get larp kit!! You seem really knowledgeable about this
Well I only really do one system and don't know much about costumes, but I will do another video buying some good stuff for sure!

Tfw you cosplay and try to make everything historically accurate and high quality but then wish stuff gets labeled as cosplay
"They have deceived us." And that sums up the video 🤣
I don't know mate, these items look pretty accurate to the medieval era. Cheap, made out of stuff you find in your barn and already dirty from your cows 😂

I don't LARP, but I had to stick around the absolutely brilliant commentry.
absolutely ;-)
No the usual content I watch on here, but great none the less! Your reactions to the Wish products were great! TH-camr Bernadette Banner made a whole rant video about sites like Wish taking her photos of her hand made medieval gown and using it to sell the cheap knock offs like what you got.

I am jealous. I can't fit up to my knuckles in a pringles can
I've got tiny skinny wrists and forearms, so they'd definitely fit me. Not that I'm buying things from wish anymore
It’s such a handy life skill, until you’re the designated crisp reacher
I'm absolutely loosing my mind about how the image package 10 is almost definitely just a Galavant screenshot
Love the video, getting into the clothing and gear is something really interesting (and expensive) about Larp. Also are you gonna go back to doing any event recap or storytime videos once events start happening again? Or is it not your thing any more

That’s the trick to saving money. Cheap stuff, a few nice pieces and a bit of diy!

the little fashion show segments oh god adorable
"They're paaaants" LOL I had to go back and listen to that a few times and it got me every time! First time watching this channel/creator and I love it!!
When you turned around for the first time and we saw you hulked out of the "gown" (firmly in quotation marks) - I DIED.
Keep in mind that shirt that you think is thin and good for hot weather is likely plastic (85% polyester) and will be very hot.
As an actual costume maker, this is actually making me cry xD
Rofl I enjoyed this way more then I should have! Mark as always thank you for a very lovely video.
Bro, from one fake sword swinger to another, not all cosplayers use this cheap fake crap! xD
Also that last dress killed me!
Great video 😆
Yeah lmao he said "cheap, could be used for cosplay" and I was kinda genuinely offended TuT
But we also shouldn't shame cosplayers who can only afford cheap tat. @silverstring9928
This video does a good job of showing that you need to be skeptical when it comes to buying anything from Wish, LARP-related items or other things.

I love how "I guess this is fine" quickly becomes the most positive response
Expectations vs Reality Wish Style. lol
This was fantastic, the catwalk shots were amazing!
It's been a year, and my favorite thing is still the way you've Merida-ed your way out of those dress seams.
Photos can be misleading which is why I always try to buy from sites I know I can trust & have bought items from before. Amazon is a good one, have yet to have any sorts of problems from them. This was a great watch. You have definitely helped me with deciding on future purchases
I wasn't sure what I was getting into when I clicked on this video... but I knew I had to stay after the cute gambison cat walk moment
excellent music choices for all the "runway"/"catwalk" shots! delightful video overall!
Mark wearing a dress and wig = my new number 1 Waifu
Have you seen his Bowsette? That's something else
He does look pretty darn good when he crossplays.
@@arcticbanana66 He looks really good when he's in an actually good dress haha, this dress wouldn't look good on anyone
@@MazHem Yeah, this thing looks like a cheap convenience store Halloween costume.
32:07 Oh god, that cracked me up good, man. The cloak revealing that ripped fabric on the arm. Thats effin funny.
I absolutely love how you model everything. Perfection.
Thank you! 😊
Super fun vid to watch! Missed your content so much Mark 😊
I moved away from my larp group a week before covid hit and its been so awful I miss them all so much, this video made my heart ache, thanks mark ♥️😂
Sorry to hear! I've not had any events this year due to COVID and really missing it too!
All of the cat walks were amazing. I think you showed that something crap on the table can look kind of okay on someone with the right lighting.
03:22: walk in the room sword first 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I never knew there were so many different ways of being uncomfortable. So thanks for that Mark. I would like to see what you could get ahold of from a proper retailer, so if you find the time. Nice to see you on youtube again. :)
This is the most adorable video ive ever seen. Mostly negative reviews for items that are nicer than 93% of larpfits that exist.
With the blue coat you look a bit like a disney character. Love the video!
I honestly will admit that I watched to the end because of all the 'cat walks'
Nonsense is what we all need from time to time :)
Ngl. That chestpiece could be useable for some more cosplay outfits. Like, if you wanna go for "light chestpiece under a jacket," or something.
I've never had the opportunity to larp being a wee uni student, but I've always been interested. Great vid really interesting to see the process
i love this video really made me laugh, youve done the cosplay/larp community a huge service with video, i look at this stuff on wish and think bet that'll be shit, and yes thanks to your video its nice to if it is or isnt thanks alot, love the rpg stuff in the background btw dude ... peace
Good video Mark the new channels quality is amazing!
This was an absolute delight to watch!
You know, I'm looking at these and thinking they'd be great to tear apart and use as patterns for making your own gear with much higher quality materials.
That what I usually do 😂
Medieval Vogueing has been created. Excellent work Mark. Absolutely fabulous.
honestly, you could make a pretty hilarious character out of that look with the dress and crown.
There’s no way that dress would go around boobs ugh
I love your commentary and looks of disgust haha. Great job :)
Those 'catway' walks were fantastic! Keep up the great work :D
Mark has small feet...
Must have a small SOCK
So glad to see more larping content, it's something that I can't exactly try but love to hear about!
