    Awesome video. Never heard of Spinebreaker but glad they made the list. You have a great voice for narration.

    Brutally Deceased has an awesome sound. Left Behind is pretty good sounding too. I am glad to see new death metal bands are still popping up, especially here in the USA. FWIW, I bought my HM-2 new in like 1986 and I have checked out distortion pedals ever since but nothing has gained my favor over the HM-2 so it still is on my pedalboard to this very day. The Swedish sound(turn all 4 knobs all the way up) is only one sound it makes. Leaving the distortion knob low and tweaking the tone knobs also gives a unique amazing sound like a twisted fuzz overdrive that is smooth and rich. I have since added a Black Arts Toneworks Pharoah Supreme fuzz (YOB a doom type band uses those) but no other dist. Nice videos btw (I watched your other HM-2 band video) ps Wolverine Blues blew me away when I first heard it and I still play that CD \m/ Entombed \m/

      The HM2 sound is such a beast, once you fall in love with that unique buzzsaw tone, it's hard to shake wanting to use it above everything else. I bought mine used off Reverb, but I've had it for years with no problems. Nice, YOB is heavy! Thanks for the support! and yea man, wolverine blues is badass!

    Give BAEST a listen. They are a Danish old school death metal band, they of course use the pedal too.

    I used the Behringer HM300 copy pedal on Ihmistarhaus C-casette witch can be found here on TH-cam. We're using that one also on my new band called Major Mistake. Currently working on demo for that band and our guitarist recorded the guitars today. Grind n' Roll up your ass!

    It seemed like Spinebreaker doesn’t use that tone anymore. It sounds like they ditched the chainsaw sound in their live performances, even on their most recent release.
    I’ve seen a live video of them from 2016 and they’ve definitely got that killer tone.
    They’re from my hometown, San Jose, and they’ve got performance there on the 15th of April, next month. I’ll hear if they’ve got that sound in person.

    The Metalzone pedal ran through the effects loop sounds amazing . When I was 15 I tried out the Heavy Metal pedal but the Metalzone was just so much thicker .

  • @itachi9567

    This pedal is fucking awesome, i bought a 1986 MIJ and nothing else caught my attention since then. Only a side note, this pedal is EXTREMELY difficult to use if you don't play classic death metal with SIMPLE riffs. Since i have so much fun with the HM-2, now i want to use it with my band where we play very technical and avant garde death metal and, sadly, for this approach is extremely difficult to obtain a sound where you can hear technical riffs and i found myself buying a bunch of other pedals (tube screamer, 10 band eq, changed two noise gates...) just to "tame" this beast. I'm still trying and i don't want to surrender because i really love the "chainsaw" but i think this is a specific tool for a specific job and it's really sad it's so "limited" as a pedal

    • @diabeticmonkey
      @diabeticmonkey ปีที่แล้ว

      Just dial the level and gain back while you play with the eq. Should make for a killer lead tone if you need to stick out

    Fucking great list. Go check out all the new crust/blackened hardcore bands, most of them use the HM2 or a modern clone. My favorite bands: Alpinist(disbanded), Jungbluth (Alpinist replacement, also disbanded), Wolf King(releasing album this year), Totem Skin (disbanded), Oathbreaker(on hiatus, used HM2 on older records I think, produced by Kurt Balou)
