Johnny Marr songs are like _stories._ Not just riffs or typical chord progressions. I don't even bother to try to learn Smiths songs because i just can't remember *all that stuff.* Every song is like learning the intro to Little Wing, and it took me a lonnnnng time to get that down.... He's amazing. And Nathaniel has seemingly genius-level recall of everything he's ever played. I envy that. The chops, too, of course.
I owned that Echo Park for a while. Great guitar! Fun fact it was built for Dean Fertita of Queens of The Stone Age in 2018. He used it on the road and I have pictures. There was no COA so I had Gabe make me one in 2021 which is why it says that.
Nathaniel had such fun with that SG w/ CME pickups it truly made me smile, but the '79 Strat would totally be my thing. Get Nathaniel in the basement with some pedals and that strat and let him "Edge" out for an hour or two on a live stream 🤠🎸🎶
may we per chance be blessed with an acoustic episode? im so dying to hear what u have behind those glass doors p.s. i really enjoy these videos and resonate with your love for guitars a lot : )
Every guitar player in the world is envious of how easily Nate conjures great sounds out of any guitar he plays? As for this group of guitars, I'd go with the Echo Park, I share the last name of the luthier, and always wanted to buy a guitar from them...if only I had $3K+ to spend, nobody I'd rather give it to than CME, plus they are trustworthy gentlemen...except when they change the price on the phone!
I'm not sure if I'm imagining it, but I think there was someone else (prolly a few!) making the "Prince" Tele...had it on the tip of my tongue...the Chinese company that everyone was nuts for a few years ago - first it was a Les Paul style for under $200 usd, but I think they make one of those Teles. Given their simplicity, I'd think they'd be ripe for fret work, electronics and the usual hardware upgrades and you 'should' have a decent approximation. It's always down to the necks. If you can work with the neck, you're in business.
That's not a Tuxedo. It's a 360 MG/BT (mapleglo, black trim option). Ric's designation of Tux is for White/BT with a white enameled fretboard, and it's rare. MG/BT were common in the mid-80s.
great player, great guy, but you know theres millions of great musicians out there that no one has heard of only a lucky few get the breaks but nat deserves it, im self taught possibly 2/3's as good as nat on my best day? ha ha, just kidding, my favourites are the strats, so versatile, always sound good, nats strengths seem to be jazz style and country in my opinion
Thanks for the breakdown! Just a quick off-topic question: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
Can we get a explainer on the process of flying into Chicago to purchase a vintage guitar and amp. I would never want a vintage amp shipped, but don’t know how navigate the flying with an amp… Do you need to take the tubes out? Buy a road case? I feel like a second seat would be better than a road case and putting into checked luggage. Thank you
It definitely depends on the situation but we ship amps all the time with no problems. That being said there are some amps we list as pick up only unless the buyer insures the shipment. Accidents durring shipment can happen but our team does a great job of packing gear for shipment. The big ones are sometimes shipped via freight. I'm not sure how flying with an amp would go but I would assume you would need a road case and it would be checked with like a bag. We have personally flown guitars by purchasing an extra seat for them so if the amp fits that would definitely be the safest option.
Whilst an amazing mastery of the guitar neck as usual, I was left a bit disappointed with todays rendition as would have welcomed actual tunes, synonymous with the various brands. E.g John Lennon played a 325 in the early 60s hence we went out and bought same. So a demonstration illustrating those early Beatles riffs would have been most appropriate
Fair point! Funny because someone else mentioned wishing Nathaniel would play more original tunes. Can’t please everyone! The concept of this series is for Nathaniel pick up guitars and play what naturally come to him. Just like someone who walks into the store and trying a few guitars. Glad you enjoyed some of the video though and thank you for the feedback! 🤘🤘
Episode suggestions. Expensive guitar shoot out against the budget model alternative. Or, expensive guitar through a budget amp vs budget guitar through an expensive amp shootout.

@@chicagomusicexchange exclusive SG. I've been wanting one of those.
what was the name of that Smith's song he played?
I personally liked the echopark, but the Strat is a really close 2nd. Coming through that Vox, the echopark was just the most entrancing.
Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want and This Charming Man
🤘🤘
I’d love to call dibs on that Eastwood Mad Cat, for reasons.
Regardless of the guitar(s) chosen, it's the playing that I'm here for...Nathaniel is a master. Bravo.
🙏🙏
The Smiths on a Rickenbacker - Doesn't get much better!
🤘🤘
It really doesn't
What's the song? I don't know it, but I loved his rendition.
Please please please let me get what I want @shinjial
@@sillysausage4549 Thank you so much!
Is this the first time in history someone has talked about a Mad Cat Tele without mentioning Prince?

This once again just proves that no matter the price, no matter the type of guitar, Nathaniel plays better than you ever will.
😂
True 😂
He’s like Danish Pete. He could make a cardboard box with rubber bands for strings sound like angels singing
Couldn’t agree more.
He's such a great host for this channel's store.

Absolutely!
I believe Nathaniel would just sit down and play a J-160e for a large segment of that.
The best used guitar is any guitar that Nathaniel's playing!
amen! 🤘🤘
@chicagomusicexchange get him to play something on the least expensive guitar you sell! They would probably sell out in 24 hours!
The colour coordination of the Rick and the Vox is perfect, beautiful. The Smiths 👏
Cracks me up on the Rick -- this button does a thing....And then you make it sound the way you did. So well done. Cheers!
🤘🤘 Cheers!

Always a treat to listen to Nathaniel 🏍️🇨🇦
I have a suggestion for this show. It’s in desperate need of more episodes.
How to sell any guitar...... let Nathaniel play it! Always a pleasure to listen to. 🤘🏻
Any Full Band Fridays coming up??🙏🏻
Should have 1-2 more before the end of the year! 🤘🤘
If you're not playing a Prince song on that one i'm going to be really disappointed 😂
😬😬
Hope he plays either Purple Rain or Purple Stain
Great demo video... I liked all but the last black Strat (clean sounds were YUK)
Always enjoy watching Nathaniel play.
🤘🤘
Love listening to guys like Nathaniel and Justin Johnson playing guitars they could play a tennis racket and make it sound amazing.
The Echopark had a lovely bell chime.
🤘🛎️
The SG sounds so good - amazing playing too obviously 😊. It’s a steal at that price.
Right! Someone already nabbed it 🤘🤘
@ not surprised at all! They have taste 😉👍
Wonderful hands - Rickenbacker sounds fantastic.
🤘🤘
Great to hear The Smiths and Johnny Marr!!
🤘🤘
That SG is sick.
love these videos, thanks guys.
Thank you for watching!! 🤘🤘
I think Nathan should do a Busking demo of some guitars.
👀🤘🤘
my reaction time to turn the video way up when he hit that Tie Your Mother down riff was F1 level.
😂🤘🤘
Love the Echopark😀
♥️♥️
Man just played the top gear tune.. I'm crying 😭
😂🤘🤘
Nathan can make a guitar made out of broken popsicle sticks sound good.
😂😂

Thank you!!🤘🤘
I do like that strat. I have a tone wired in bridge. Then I can moved between middle bridge for solos.
🤘🤘
The pick guard sounds awesome. How do I get one for my Tele?🤔
When I hear Rickenbacker I think Beatles and John Fogarty CCR
That's my dream guitar right there..
🤘🤘
We can tell the age of the strat because of the bullet truss rod
Not sure why I always forget Nathaniel has a brit accent!

Definitely NOT a "Beatles" accent. That's Manc all day.
😁just like calling a Virginian a Yankee

Can we get an episode trying different used amps with a LP and Strat?
We for sure want to do an amp episode in the future!
How about showcasing the variety Gibson Melody Makers
We do have a few at the shop right now! 👀
Huh .. must not be a fan of Prince 😩
That rick screams Ed O’Brien
How does one not know what that Tele is. Played by Prince and Merle Haggard had a burst.
Any chance he can play Gavotte?
The overdrive in that amp is rough. I would love it, but it’s super duper rough.
Please don't feature a Gibson RD - I don't want the demand to go up. Prices are already high enough and I don't own one yet.

I had a tele like that. About 20 years ago. Got stolen. I’m sick over it.
❤❤❤❤❤
♥️♥️
Any chance of knowing the amp settings here?
EQ is mostly the same for the whole video. Everything at noon!
Great playing, some nice guitars... But awful modern Vox amp... sharp and crisp like hell!!
Like a swarm of angry mud hornets when he plugged in the SG: Atrocious.
Hmmm…can’t think of anyone playing a Rickenbacker through a Vox….
please let me get i want
Arn’t Eastwood madcats almost that price new? It trying to be a jerk here.
All good! $1400 new from Eastwood.
My bad.
P90 bridge and humbucker neck is so absolutely wrong.
lol Idk I kinda like it!!
I would like to see him play something original.
Oh man idk 2021 sg was outta this world 😅
There's something wrong with that Rick. Pups? Maybe? Those aren't toasters.
Terrible clean sound. Definitely not indicative of a Rick sound.
Best sounding neck pickups. Random yes, but just imagine the playing that Nathaniel will do in that video.
