You can't really stop the disease at this point. The way I see it, if you're at risk, you need to be quarantined to protect you from getting the disease until it passes or until they develop a vaccine.
In other terms, we will have more deaths than Europe because Americans are very unhealthy even at a young age. Obesity, cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, asthma, COPDs allergies, liver diseases and kidneys as a complication of diabetes and so on. Most people in America are small business owners, or contracted workers, so sick leave doesn’t affect them too much, in-fact, it will likely hurt them if they have to pay their employees while there’s no income. Only people who work for big corporations are affected by sick leave.

I hope your govt starts to tale this whole thing seriously, because it is. The only reason why you don't have pur numbers is that you're not running as many tests as we are. Our hospitals don't have enough ICU to treat all the sick, and the situation is spiraling out of control. Please be safe, guys.

He can now breath on its one after spending more then two weeks sedated and on a ventilator. Coronavirus is not a joke and you should be taking more measures to prevent it from spreading.

I'm 70 and I am amazed at some of my peers who think it is just overblown. Almost all young people will probably get it and recover. The older ones - not so much.
Those who can work from home - should. Employers should make this an option. Those who cannot work from home (trade skills) should continue to go to work. By me working from home in my IT job I’m reducing spread of virus for those who don’t have that luxury. As for other workers (drivers, wait staff) who will lose work due to decline in business as the rest of us stay home - we need an economic package to help them make ends meet. It’s a complicated problem but we can’t keep pretending business as usual. Why isn’t the government addressing this? Blue collar workers are the backbone of our society. The stock market decline is minuscule in comparison to what will happen if we lose our millions of blue collar workers.

Everyone keeps saying stay home if you're sick, but being bedridden when the regular flu came around last month cost so much out of my paycheck that my student loan and car insurance bills overdrew my account! Yeah I understood that guy doing all the things very well. A lot of people do that type of work today, pulling money in from different apps like ride services,food delivery, package delivery. I've done the package and food delivery thing myself at one point. It's true that most of these people can't afford to stop. Sickness or not. What's worse still is, that's not the only problem with this type of work. Upkeep on one's vehicle for instance. A lot of these people are not mechanics and when your livelihood relies on your car this becomes an issue. I've seen mothers doing this type of work with their kids in the back of the car because they couldn't afford child care. I've seen people who live out of their cars do this type of work. This type of work is a band-aid on a gaping wound. One of the last means of making bread for some people and a glaring indication of where this country is heading if something drastic doesn't happen. Next time you get food, packages, or even your own butt delivered using an app take into consideration, if not for a moment, what that person's story is. It might be advantages to keep your distance with a virus and an incompetent government running rampant but remember you can still talk to people. Just don't let them cough on me or I'm pulling out that spray bottle like the dad.

China accepted the Costa Serena Liner in Tianjin on January 24th: it has 4806 people and just like the Diamond Princess, 17 are displaying symptoms of fever--China demanded self-quarantine of suspected cases and evacuated the whole crew in 24hrs--it was too fast to be on the news like the Diamond Princess and hardly made a ripple in China’s fight of COVID-19. I agree China didn’t do a A+ as a whole, but she qualifies for a Pass. You can learn a lot from a equally diverse country with even larger amounts of workforce who can not afford to be quarantined. I’m working with my university to share the medical information already know to Chinese population and see if some of them can help my American friends.
That's what a response should look like. We should figure out a way to slow things down and urge people to stay home as much as possible for a bit to slow the transmission. Kids are coming up on Spring Break too, so this would be an ideal time to do so.

In Italy we have people in their 20's and 30's fighting for their lives in the ICU. Patient 1 was a 38 y/o male who had recently been doing a marathon. He can now breath on its one after spending more then two weeks sedated and on a ventilator. Coronavirus is not a joke and you should be taking more measures to prevent it from spreading.

Those who can work from home - should. Employers should make this an option. Those who cannot work from home (trade skills) should continue to go to work. By me working from home in my IT job I’m reducing spread of virus for those who don’t have that luxury. As for other workers (drivers, wait staff) who will lose work due to decline in business as the rest of us stay home - we need an economic package to help them make ends meet. It’s a complicated problem but we can’t keep pretending business as usual. Why isn’t the government addressing this? Blue collar workers are the backbone of our society. The stock market decline is minuscule in comparison to what will happen if we lose our millions of blue collar workers.
What was the percentage of Americans who could not afford a $400 emergency? Shudder to think what will happen to service and blue collar workers. Even many white collar jobs do not offer enough time off.
It is doubly frightening because we do not have a president capable of administering during a crisis.
Give those low skill jobs to robots and let the employees do simple problem solving and piloting for the robots.

THANK YOU for finally talking about how most workers in the u.s. don't have the luxury to be out of work if we're sick!! Everyone keeps saying stay home if you're sick, but being bedridden when the regular flu came around last month cost so much out of my paycheck that my student loan and car insurance bills overdrew my account! I've been watching corona coverage like a hawk and battling a fever and cough for several days but I literally can't afford to stay home when I can physically come in to work, even though I know I'm risking getting students sick! And when all of this is over everyone will forget about it and nothing will still change...

Yeah I understood that guy doing all the things very well. A lot of people do that type of work today, pulling money in from different apps like ride services,food delivery, package delivery. I've done the package and food delivery thing myself at one point.
It's true that most of these people can't afford to stop. Sickness or not. What's worse still is, that's not the only problem with this type of work. Upkeep on one's vehicle for instance. A lot of these people are not mechanics and when your livelihood relies on your car this becomes an issue. I've seen mothers doing this type of work with their kids in the back of the car because they couldn't afford child care. I've seen people who live out of their cars do this type of work.
This type of work is a band-aid on a gaping wound. One of the last means of making bread for some people and a glaring indication of where this country is heading if something drastic doesn't happen. Next time you get food, packages, or even your own butt delivered using an app take into consideration, if not for a moment, what that person's story is.
It might be advantages to keep your distance with a virus and an incompetent government running rampant but remember you can still talk to people. Just don't let them cough on me or I'm pulling out that spray bottle like the dad.

Just because it started in China does not directly indicate it started in China--there is no conclusion yet. Since China experienced it first, she has many experiences for the rest of the world to learn from, and I just think it is wrong to discredit China as a whole when there are a few setbacks. China is much more difficult to handle than America as it she has too much people and many, just like the American workforce, can not afford unpaid leave. But China offered FREE medical examination and treatment to ALL patients, and even farmers are donating their crops to the doctors and nurses. China accepted the Costa Serena Liner in Tianjin on January 24th: it has 4806 people and just like the Diamond Princess, 17 are displaying symptoms of fever--China demanded self-quarantine of suspected cases and evacuated the whole crew in 24hrs--it was too fast to be on the news like the Diamond Princess and hardly made a ripple in China’s fight of COVID-19. I agree China didn’t do a A+ as a whole, but she qualifies for a Pass. You can learn a lot from a equally diverse country with even larger amounts of workforce who can not afford to be quarantined. I’m working with my university to share the medical information already know to Chinese population and see if some of them can help my American friends.
