everything should be padded before moving it to avoid damage to the furniture or appliances. you should never go up a ram with a piece of furniture on the dolly in front of you you always go up backwards.

Do they have anything that's similar to a car jack? Like a machine you can put under a heavy piece of furniture, that lifts it automatically or by cranking it like a car jack?

Don't EVER put furniture on a Dolly/Cart with out padding it first and stop tipping the dresser on those little legs. You're lucky they legs on the dresser didn't snap off.

    What about moving appliances

You typically want to go from the side when moving appliances. Its at it's less width and theres not plug's or vents that'd get in the way or damaged.put a piece of cardboard or like this guy was doing a moving blanket. Its best to have 2 people doing this one to push one to receive on the hand truck. If you're going off a curb go front first not backwards the edge of the appliance can hit the top of the curb and fall off. Hope this answers the question
