      Thanks. Its amazing at how often I check on my planes and find a little issue that needs attention... I was surprised at how much I enjoy flying her.. She's so smooth and easy to fly.. Landings are pretty consistent too.. Just dial in the throttle and start playing with the elevator to slow her down and get the nose to rise... Thanks for the comments - Will

    That's awesome. It looks like a great flyer. I agree with you all around, bigger does fly very well, and buying used planes is usually the way to go for me with larger planes. I've purchased 2 F22s used, 1 6s and 1 8s cheaper than a new one and didn't have jitters on first flight knowing there's hanger rash already on the plane lol. Great video, thanks for sharing.

      Thanks BD.. Not sure why I was intimidated by this plane. Maybe due all the RCgroups comments about stalling. Due to the lighter than stock wingload, this plane flies great..

    • @BDTennessee
      @BDTennessee 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SteffenRC v1 with slats and hardware is much more prone to stall. Alot of feedback is based upon that one too. Glad everything worked out! What rates and settings were used?

    The Assan ag61 nose gear gyro comes in very handy on this particular EDF, I have them installed on two of my models, eliminating the zig zagging all over the runway when taking off and landing, It's designed for us who seam to cant keep the jet traveling straight on the grass or pavement lol

    • @SteffenRC
      @SteffenRC  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      100%.. At first I thought it was a gimmick.. Holy Cow this is great for keeping things straight and stress free. Love it and will install it on other bigger EDF...

    I really like how you went through it and have everything tidied up. Your landings were hot, but good. Very well done considering the nerves involved. Very nice, smooth flying Will. She has some punch. The nose gear gyro really makes her track, impressive. It is always great to hear the enthusiasm in someones voice over a new plane...even a used/new plane. I can tell you're really glad you got it. I'm happy for you bro! The last landing was awesome. You might consider an Avian ESC at some point. The reverse feature makes a great brake on a bigger/faster landing plane.

    • @SteffenRC
      @SteffenRC  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks Adam.. I appreciated your confident in my flying skills when I was a little intimidated by her.. I'm over that now and been flying her everyday since maiden.. That gyro is really handy.. No excuses for losing control on take-offs.. Straight and no swerving... Today, I'm able to get about 1/2 my landings at what I would consider slow enough on touchdown. I run out of runway pretty quick, so a reverse ESC is on the shopping list for sure. Always appreciate you support.

    Great looking plane! (Does the original owner want it back now? Ha.) I like the effort you put into it getting it ready for a successful 1st. flight. Everything about your flights was smooth and very scale - impressive! So . . . have you come up with a cool sounding Navy pilot 'call sign' yet?

    • @SteffenRC
      @SteffenRC  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He's a little envious at how much fun I'm having with her... :-). Thanks for the comments. I sure do like flying her scale.. I know some say she flies like an Avanti, but I'm not seeing that yet. She's a smooth scale flyer for sure... No cool call signs yet... The guys at the field will need to name me something.. But, I'm sure it won't be very flattering....

    Im running my v2 on 8s with 1350kv.
    Weight is 9 lbs with smc 5300's.
    Think im gonna lower my elevator rates because its dropped a wing on me more than once.
    Great flying and video sir👏

    • @SteffenRC
      @SteffenRC  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think my V1 with the airbrakes and slats motors removed really shaved the weight.. I'm at 7.6lbs AUW. I haven't had any issues with stalling on some of my tight turns, YET.... I've intentionally applied full elevator to get a stall out of her to see where that point is while at moderate altitude.. I think at the weight I'm at she's got a decent wing load. (haven't done the math though...). Based on my 15 flights so far, I don't think I'm gonna change much other than aileron throws and maybe dial in the cg a little.. Thanks Will

      Me too 👍🏻 my next landing will be on low rates , I am also installing as3x and only use it when I land .. she likes to bite sometimes especially on a cross wind with to much elevator and not enough speed … my last flight with her surprised the heck out of me ..

    if you have the original outrunner 12blade edf i highly recomend you switch to the newer 9 or 12 blade inrunner from freewing, i have the v1 and with the new edf unit even though i fly at 3000ft above sea level it flies pretty well it had a hard time getting up before and now i get 30 extra second of flight time, i did not have to change speed control or even speed control timing its just a drop in upgrade

    • @SteffenRC
      @SteffenRC  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Its the Assan AG-61 Anti-Sideslip Front Steering Taxing Gyro. Several places sell this.. Its pretty amazing how this wiggly landing gear on the T-45 tracks likes a laser down the runway.. Great addition to this plane.. Glad the previous owner added it..

      Its a great plane for sure. My timer is set for 3:10 and I land at 3.8v per cell. I'm using a SMC LIHV pack. I'm thinking about investing in the 6000's for a little more time.. I've heard the Viper 90mm is as good as it gets for fun sport jets.. Its on my list...

      Good. Currently, for EDF I fly the Freewing L-39 80mm with 130A Avian ESC, Avanti S V2 80mm w/30A Avian ESC, and my E-flight Viper 90mm w/130A Avian ESC. The Viper 90 gives me problems with tight turning, the large wing tips stalling, if that makes sense. You'll find yourself spiraling down towards the ground in a blink of an eye if you don't keep the power up. The former 3 are all perfect fliers any day in all weather. I'm two hairs and some air from pulling the trigger on the Freewing Phantom II "Ghost Grey" 90.
