Brilliant, this is by far the best tutorial on speed ramping I have come across in YT, One can explain it in this way only when he/she has in-depth knowledge on how graph works, you have really done a great job, I am sure it will help many people, thank you so much.
Hey buddy!! That is exactly what I was hoping to accomplish with this video 😊. Thank you so much for watching and supporting me. Seriously means the world 🙏🏼
And to think that I only had to do an easy out at the beginning and an easy in at the end of the time to manipulate when my mistake was doing it in the entire keyframe. Even understanding the concept of graphics, derivative and speed at the point I had not been able to get the Time Remaping to look that polished, you are a genius my friend, keep it up!.
After 10 tutorials I've watched about time remap speed ramping trying to find a way to fix my graphs and number of keyframes, I found your tutorial, it really helped me alot and i understood alot more from urs than i've learned from others and it also works on my gaming edits, thanks alot bro i wish u the best in ur yt career
So glad it helped you more than the others brother!! I've always noticed that most people doing speed ramping tutorials don't even get it themselves lmao. They'll be like "well, you just pull this bar really far this way until it looks like this" without understanding any of it. So I made this video :)
How to smoothly connect two clips with AE speed ramping. This is exactly what I wanted to know. The actual video helped me understand it better. Thanks for creating such videos.
Great tutorial. I think the key information I got out of it, which made me tweak my footage, having the footage go in the same direction for the transition. Thanks.
Any specific ones you saw in there that you would like me to make a tutorial for? Sorry for the late response! TH-cam doesn't give me all the notifications for comments anymore for whatever reason. Feel free to dm me on instagram; i reply fast on there
I'll see what I can do bro!! Any specific ones you want to see? Feel free to dm them to me on instagram and I'll probably be able to look into doing them sooner!
Lovely Tutorial man I really learned a lot.... Suggestion: I think it wouldnt be easier though if you just precomped both clips and did a speed ramp as one layer
Hmm, I don't really get it. You create 4 keyframes, the two middle ones indicate when the speed ramp should start and end, right? Why do you move the last 2 keyframes in then? (I'm talking about what you're doing at around the 03:51 mark)
If you don’t move the last keyframe there with it, then the portion between the 3rd and 4th keyframe will be extended causing that portion to try to play in slow motion - unless that is your intention and unless you filmed at a high enough frame rate, that portion will become choppy in between those two keyframes. Hope that makes sense!
Every time I watch an After Effects speed ramp tutorial, I think about stop doing it in Premiere. Loved your tips. Btw, I am a Mechanical Engineer too who is now working with AV haha
It’s so smooth with graph editor in AE man!!! And bro, I actually know another mechE from my school who switched over to doing AV in Chicago 👀, that’s dope
Hey man, it's just a much quicker, easier interface to manipulate in AE in my opinion. You can accomplish the same speed ramping in Premiere, it's just a tad more difficult to smooth it out in comparison to AE
Thanks Drew! Great stuff...I've been using Premiere Pro CC for my speed ramping (and honestly think it sucks). AE just looks so much cleaner! Have been watching a bunch of other guys using Final Cut Pro and I think Final Cut really has speed ramping/time re-mapping down...but for us Windows guys.....AE is def. the way to go.....was getting so frustrated with Premiere when it came to speed ramping. Very helpful...thx again!
Flashback express! For the mouse click pop ups, could you give me an example of what you mean with a time stamp? Or are you talking about the yellow around the mouse? That’s automatic on the software Edit: same with the red circles on the clicks. Automatic w the software
Hey bro hope you are well and having a great day so far. Just found you today and really pleased we have your videos are awesome bro. Fantastic editing skills and great footage bro. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and expertise with us really appreciate it. Stay safe and catch up again real soon God bless you bro.
Thank you bro! It will definitely work for speeding up your clips. As long as you’re not pulling keyframes apart to slow down the footage, you’re golden 👌🏼
Hi Drew or anyone else reading this. I´ve been trying to find a tutorial for how to make a speedramp transition but still keep the duration/lenght of the clip, or how to speed ramp to music. How to you do it? thank you
Hey man, your clip must be shortened if you’re adding a speed ramp to it (assuming you aren’t shooting at a higher frame rate than your timeline frame rate; then you could stretch out the slower portion before or after your ramp since there will be more keyframes available. To speed ramp to music, simply time your speed ramps with the beat!
@@drewkocak thank you very much for the answer. I want to keep my speed 100%, but add a speed ramp at the end at start. Let's say I've already made a sequence that follows a beat, do you know of any easy way that I can add a speed ramp to a clip, and make it still fit the beat/have same lenght? Thank you for heping out man, it's really apreciated
@@Holg-uw1hk you’re welcome! The only way to do it would be to decrease the speed in the middle - so you can’t keep it at 100%. You would have to slow it down some. Depending on your frame rate though, that might make it choppy. You can use the timewarp effect in after effects to artificially slow it down in a smooth fashion though
@@drewkocak thank you. I'm aware that it has to be slow down in the middle to make it have the same duration. I was just curious if there is some automatic way that Adobe can make it fit inside a defined space, if that markes sense. Thank you very much though, I apreciate you are taking the time to help others!
This tutorial was well put together mate. Wish I could've found this when I first started a couple years back PS. You click on your mouse and keyboard very hard🤣
Nice tutorial! I am wondering, what if I have my edit already done in Premiere, and I want to speed ramp in one single clip like you did in the first part, and the speed ramp should be synchronized to the beat in the music? I could guess the timing but how can I get the preview in after effects with music to really nail it?
When you import your clips into AE, just import the song with it man! You can import audio into AE along with your video clips. That's how I do it at least
Also have a couple questions- when I click a single keyframe then click graph editor, it doesn't show the zoomed in view of that single keyframe like in your video, it shows all keyframes I've placed on the clip. Also, which graph view are you using? Value or speed graph? I'm having trouble manipulating the slopes without messing up the speed after the keyframe. I adjust using the yellow bars but it also adjusts the portion of the clip after the keyframe. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
First 😆, nice tutorial! Intro was so clean and smooth!
My man!!! Everyone who sees this comment, go check out my boy Preston's channel. Young talent right here 🤘🤘
