Hello If only thank you for watching our video and for your very interesting question 💚 Slow release fertilisers do have a one or two year time limit - it says on the bottle - and ours in the video was a two year limit and so we will top it up this spring Have a great weekend All the best Melanie and John 🌸
Hello @GODFATHERItalianIT - thank you for watching and for your question 💚 It doesn’t really matter what time you repot either your olive or fig tree but just make sure it’s well watered in the summer All the best Melanie and John 🌸
Hello AndyW - thank you for watching 💚 Olive trees are hardy and can take -5C John will cover our potted trees in horticultural fleece if frost is likely but old towels or sheeting will do just as well to protect the plants Have a great rest of the week All the best Melanie 🌸
Hello @mehranashkanian2747 - thank you for watching 💚 It is best done late winter/early spring when the ground is warming and the tree is growing away Have a great weekend and Happy New Year to you All the best Melanie and John 🌸
Hello Sigis - thank you for watching our video and for your comment: the fertilizer used is a general purpose one as the olive tree needs a lot of nutrients as it's in a pot - herewith a link for you as to the one we use: we are Amazon Associates and therefore we may receive a small commission if you do purchase from our link but it does not affect the price you pay Miracle-Gro All Purpose Continuous Release Plant Food 1kg amzn.to/2F7ExDN All the best Melanie 🌸
I received an 18 inch olive tree 3 weeks ago. I replanted into a 10 inch pot with fresh organic soil. I placed it in my bathroom that has an eastern window. I have watered it twice. All but two bottom leaves have curled up and fallen off. Help me!
Hello John - thank you for watching our video and for your question If the leaves have shrivelled it sounds as though it hasn’t had enough water or it’s been kept in too hot conditions They can take down to -5C so keep it on the cool side until it has recovered and established and also keep it well watered All the best 🌸
Stephen Embleton Hello Stephen - best during the growing season but as you are not going to be disturbing the roots anytime will do Just make sure you water it well afterwards All the best 🌸
Hi Steven - thank you for watching our video If your olive is in a pot make sure it is well drained and in the light and it should recover well as Spring goes along In the meantime keep safe and all the best 🌸
Hello FollowYourHeart - thank you for watching our video This time of year it’s minimal pruning you need not hard pruning just taking out congested or crossed over branches and cutting back branches into shape - thin out branches to let light into the centre of your tree In the meantime keep safe 🌸
Personally I wouldn't be so keen on obstructing that single drainage hole for something like an olive tree, which generally detest damp roots. The jury's out on how useful crocks actually are in general. For similar reasons I prefer to increase the pot size bit-by-bit, rather than jumping to something significantly bigger. Some good tips otherwise.

Hello Romy - thank you for your comment and for watching 🙂The grit John recommends is horticultural grit and I link it here if that can be of help: Potting Grit 20kg by Westland Horticulture Ltd amzn.to/3nmDOQV - aids drainage and can be used decoratively on the top of your container too All the best and keep safe 🌸

You'll never get it out of the new pot again when you need to up-pot it! Not that shape pot, you'll need to break the pot or severely root prune the plant
Hi Ted - thank you for watching and for your comment which we appreciate: we had no other shaped pots available at that time but it doesn't hurt to root prune your olive tree when you want to up-pot it - All the best Melanie 🌸

You will damage the roots when potting on in years to come, due to the shape of that pot.
