Benicio Del Toro is in Guardians of the Galaxy and Star Wars Episode 8. I think this opens up the possibility for actors in Marvel movies can be in Star Wars movies. That idea of Hiddleston as a young Palpatine blew my mind! :)
+Labyrinth35 Where did you learn / hear that Hilleston could play a yong Palpatine. That's intriguing. IN fact, early rumors to FOrce Awakens centered around the idea that Adam Driver's character (Kylo) was a young cloned palaptine.. and I wouldn't throw that out the window yet. He just doesn't look like a Solo or SkyWalker, but does look like a young SHeev.. I wonder if they found him as a young, confused tot, and Han and Leia decided to do their best to raise him on the light side lol....
I just listened to Jedi Council, I think it was Kristian who said he heard a fan casting about Tom Hiddleston as a young Palpatine. That's an interesting idea by the way. :)
From someone that visited Iceland last summer for 2 weeks I will say that is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. It has it all from lush greens, uncountable waterfalls, mountains beyond mountains and places only best described as what Mordor would be like. I felt like I was on an alien planet and I didn't want to leave.
Yo, Harloff (and/or Jedi Council producers): I think the "What's the Deal With Canon" intro would be 10 times funnier (and hella cool) if you cued up a track that had a Darth Vader sounding voice uttering that phrase instead. For me personally, it would be a double-win, as I really dig Star Wars and Seinfeld :)
I just can't bring myself to buy a movie on iTunes just to have it a couple weeks before the Blu Ray. Call me old fashioned, but I just love buying and owning a physical copy too much
+sinister kiid I completely agree with you. I did this with The Hobbit extended editions. I never considered buying them digitally, I just waited for them to come out on Bluray/DVD.
You guys have no idea how lucky you are. I'm from Australia and have never had the chance to travel to the U.S in my 33 years. I do hope to visit within the next 5 years. There is so much I want to do when I finally make it over there but hearing you talk about Disneyland's Star Wars experience, I will just want to spend my entire holiday there! You are very lucky to be able to (when it opens) visit Star Wars land multiple times a year. Quite jealous.
My first thought for the trailer and essential elements to include would be soldiers yelling, blaster sounds, but the end should have Darth Vader breathing and then the quote"The plans you refer to will soon be back in our hands." Flash Rogue One title. I would love it.
It's about time you guys got critical about the Star Wars re-hash. I have it on good authority that Harloff didn't want to see a paint by numbers re-telling of the originals, but he's invested up to his eyebrows in the council and has to pretend to be pleased with the film. So my question is to the rest of the council. Given that Rey can figure out anything on the fly (she knew more about the falcon than Han So-old for Sith sakes) and she can beat down Kylo Ren, just like that, how are we the fans supposed to invest ourselves in a character that is seemingly so invincible?
. . . probably plenty have already said, but just in case, TR-8R's official designation (both confirmed on the site and in the Before the Awakening book) is FN-2199, nickname "Nines," who was a member of Finn's squad. They're all the same dude.
In the final episodes of Clone Wars, when Darth Bane was featured, it was expanded upon that his ghost was not at all similar to a Jedi force ghost. From what I gathered, Sith leave a dark presence in a location, but can't manifest like Yoda or Obi-Wan could.
Hi Mark, Kristian, John, and Tiffany, Having recently re-watched 'The Force Awakens' (AGAIN!!) , I was wondering whether "Tell that to Kunja? Club" will become the new "These aren't the droids you're looking for" and, if so, whether Mark can use it to enter all the swankiest Hollywood clubs "You don't know who I am? raised eyebrow.....Tell that to Kunja club" - Hey presto, Ellis (and friends) enter the building. :)
You can see Maz using the force on the back of the box for 75139 Lego Battle on Takodana. I think the reason for this is because the set was designed prior to the scene being cut from the movie. Lego designs their sets about a year before they are released, and this set came out in the beginning of 2016.
I'd imagine a lot of people are like me and received one of those "Limited Edition" digital copies with the mini posters as a Christmas gift. That was a smart marketing play by Disney to have those on the shelves at all the big retail outlets in time for the holidays. Very reminiscent of of "Early Bird" action figure cards from '77. I'll still buy the blu-ray with feeling cheated with a double dip.
Every time John talks of the scene he wanted where the saber goes flying by Ren in the woods and it lands in Luke's hand, I get goose bumps. It would have been awesome if that happened.
Well I hope you get some other responses, but I think the only reason why a lot of fans were disappointed was because she was marketed as this mean evil girl and she turned out not to be. But what's funny is a lot of people exaggerated the marketing for her because she's got a cool looking suit but all the administrators always get the cool stuff. I really like your theory though and I think that would be a really neat element to add to the story.
Force Ghosts mist definitely can interact with the physical world. Look at the Clone Wars - Lost Mission's episodes. Qui Gon Jinn not only cause a wind but lifted Yoda and objects in the Force to prove his presence was real and not a delusion. But I think that the Dark Side definitely diminishes the Light Side so that Ghosts are unable to be present
Hey, the more Rooney the better in my book. In her interviews she comes across, and has discussed the fact that she doesn't do anything unless she knows exactly what she's doing and can see herself in the character. She's very particular about her roles and it has served her career well. I could see that being a reason it didn't happen either. I totally agree with John where she'll win an Oscar or two VERY soon. Hell, she should get one this year, but it's looking like it won't happen.
I think Force Ghosts are always present everywhere. They have become "one with the Force" after all. The Force is ever-present, so becoming one with the Force does the same to one's "soul" or whatever. It's not that Dark Side presence makes them unable to influence, it's that the ONLY way they CAN influence anything is by communicating with a Force-sensitive who can sense their presence. On top of this, communicating with Force Ghosts is not an easy task, and this is why we see multiple instances of only a voice coming through, while other, more-focused conversations let us see Force Ghosts casually lounging on logs. Ben Kenobi could have been "standing" there watching the duel between Vader and Luke in Cloud City, yelling advice or even rude expletives the whole time, but since Luke wasn't tuned in to hear it in that moment, the audience didn't hear it either.
LOL!! Totally loved how Mark went off on how nobody wants the Emperor fucking with your head during a trench run, only to realize that's not what Kristian meant at all. Then played it off like a BOSS! -->Mark you're a fuckin' rockstar!
I think the film does portray Phasma as weak when she shuts the shield off, but having read the book, it made me realize that Phasma firmly believed that shutting the shield down wouldn't matter as the 'traitor' and his new friends would soon be dead. Remember Tarkin's last comment in Ep4, about 'evacuate? I think you overestimate their chances'...
Some Marvel actors that I'd love to see in a Star Wars movie would be: Tim Roth (Abomination), Sir Ben Kingsley (the Madarin {kind of}), Don Cheadle (War Machine), Lee Pace (Ronan the Accuser), and Hugo Weaving (Red Skull). All of these won't be very busy, at least with Marvel properties, any time soon and could play huge roles on either side of the force.
btw, did you guys notice that those cave beasts in The Honorable Ones are like one of the ones in the arena in Attack of the Clones? the one that Anakin used to save Padme. Definitely the same species, and they didn't have to go far to pick one
About other Solo kids, I think a big thing against it is none of the new actors announced fit that part. Of course, it could be 1. Rey (unlikely in my opinion), 2. a very small part that didn't get announced with the main cast (in that case it would kinda feel unnecessary), or 3. more actors will be revealed later (I don't really think so, the cast is already pretty big). But because of that I think the probability is way lower than it was before the cast announcement. Still could happen though! If Rey isn't related it would be really depressing if the only Skywalker kid was evil. And Kathleen Kennedy did say it would continue to be a family saga! All in all, I want there to be more SOlo kids, but I don't think it's very likely.
A few notes about the home video release of Force Awakens: The Blu-ray is going to include an iTunes digital copy, so you might want to reconsider buying it on iTunes early if you're planning to get the Blu-ray. Suck it up and wait. Don't get so excited about the prospect of a 3-disc Blu-ray overloaded with extras. As was pointed out, one disc is a DVD, leaving 2 Blu-rays. Of these, one is probably the 3D version of the film. So what you're really getting is three discs with the film in three different formats, and all the extras are probably on the 2D Blu-ray disc. So the idea of a bonus disc of extras seems unlikely, unless there's a retail exclusive at Target or something.
Until the specs are released that listing is relatively meaningless. But it's also not uncommon for foreign configurations to include bonus materials not included on the U.S. release, or reserved for certain retail exclusives. The Star Trek Into Darkness release was notorious for this and upset a lot of fans. Also, the free digital copy included with the U.S. version is not available in other markets, so maybe the studios put extras on discs for other countries to make up for this. There are many lines of thinking for how to put out Blu-rays but, being Hollywood, there's not a lot of logic to it (or a certain logic, depending on your point of view).
Let's be real. The fun of Star Wars is really the speculation and theorizing, not just the films/franchise but everything around them as well. This show nails that excitement.
great show again. Cannot wait for Star Wars Land. Might be worth making the trip from the UK. Definitely agree with you about Thrawn. Wouldn't it be great to see him get his own anthology movie. The back story and rise in the Empire all the way to his death is well worthy and long overdue for his own set of films.
+Rob 'Tigerman' Hewes I want to see the whole trilogy Khabarakh is such a badass character along with Thrawn and Mara Jade and the smuggler who is her boss bah can't think of his name. If they announce Heir to The Empire as the next anthology movie after episode 9 I would be so happy.
The Star Wars planet that was based off of and inspired by Iceland is called Sullust. We have never seen that planet in a Star Wars film before so this news excites me! Come on guys you must have played on that planet on Star Wars Battlefront!
Lets not forget we're already seeing Andy Serkis and Benicio del Toro appear in both Marvel and Star Wars films. I have a feeling were not done seeing Klaue or The Collector in the MCU.
Force Ghosts can actually do a lot more then what we think, remember what Qui-Gon did near the end of the Clone Wars series? And lets not forget what the Force Priestess were able to do.
I NEED Revan to be canon again. I loved the Drew Karpyshyn book and the character from KOTOR. I'd like the Exile to be canon as well however I see that being way more unlikely than Revan.
And by making us focus on luke we are distracted and happy while they can keep the mystery and probably the big twist hidden but we are feeling like we are getting more info then last time but really it isn't that much (set photos)
Seriously though guys, you should learn these Stormtroopers. Nines, Slips and Zero are kinda important. Not make or break, but Slips (who Finn always went out of his way to protect like a brother) died in the battle of Jakku, he had the hand print. His death sent Finn over the edge. Nines exemplifies the loyalty many stormtroopers have to the first order and the betrayal of people who leave. This was someone he had a real connection with. And Zero is still out there as far as we know. Could we see him in 8 confront Finn? Maybe. I feel like these stormtroopers are important to Finn's arc so we should remember their names.
Here's what I hope Benicio character's is: He's a bad guy, how does he fit into the story? Phasma. They have history, a great back and forth relationship. Phasma is put on a big mission, and she calls Benicio for assistance. He fight like a bounty hunter, but he's not really one, he's a different type of character. He's with the dark side of the force, imagine an evil Maz Kanata. Force user? Maybe. (Actually yes, but he keeps it a secret) In the end I want a reveal that he's Snokes apprentice, he IS a sith. Something like that, what do you guys think? The way I see what Phasma did was selfish. Maybe she turned down the shields because she cares more about her life than anything. "My life or some shields? *shields down*" 33:30 - 33:50 in 0.5 speed is hilarious!
Legends character I want the most to be canon? Kyle Katarn. I just don't know how they'd introduce him. Also tying it into the question about actors in the MCU in Star Wars. RDJ as Kyle Katarn.
My theory on Captain Phasma's perceived "impotence" in Ep. 7: perhaps the decision to make Phasma seem weak is intentional as a buildup to her taking on a larger role as a character driven in Ep. 8 to get payback for the embarrassment/shame she feels for her actions in Ep. 7.
I would love to Pre-Order the Blu-Ray on Amazon, which comes with the download, get the download on the 15th and then ship me the discs on release day. I will not double dip with Star Wars anymore.
Force ghost can munipulate the living world. I'll give you a sceen in ROTJ. After Yoda dies and luke is talking to R2, he then sees Obi wan and as luke walks up to him towards the log they both set on. As Obi wan is walk he is moving the leaves and branches to get to the log itself. So by that alone a force ghost can manipulate the living world.
I would of thought the movie would more than likely come out on Blu-Ray in May. If it comes out in April then that's even better. I know the date isn't final yet but it might be sooner or later. I'm wondering how many different sets the will have for different stores.
Very well. In addition to Alicia Vikander, you also had Russell Crowe, Daniel Day-Lewis (the greatest actor of all time, according to John), Denzel Washington, DiCaprio, Tom Hanks, Emily Blunt, Tom Cruise, Tom Hardy, Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet, Charlize Theron, Jessica Chastain, Chris Pratt, Eddie Redmayne, Christian Bale, Jennifer Lawrence, the three new young actors from "The Force Awakens" and Wilson, the volleyball from "Cast Away"! :)
Didn't Pablo Hidalgo confirm that only light siders can become Force Ghosts? Also Qui Gon Jinn moved furniture, blew out candles and lifted Yoda in season 6 of the Clone Wars.
Of The Bull will wreck. Campea with the Snatch reference! He won't be a sith lord (maybe). Antagonist for sure. Ellis! Finally! You/He remind/s the rest of the council about the law of gravity. #collidervideo #jedicouncil
Fortunately "Star Wars Land" is just the working title. If Disneyland want's a fully-immersive experience (including not taking away from the theming of Fronteirland), while at the same time keeping Disneyland's tradition for naming new realms. There is one name that checks 100% percent on both fronts..."The Outer Rim Territory"
I don't have a problem with the way Phasma was treated in Ep VII. Star Wars has always had a theme where big scary villains aren't nearly as powerful or scary as they portray themselves. Like Boba Fett. There really isn't much in the OT to show that Fett is that much of a badass. He has that reputation, but he actually doesn't do much at all. When he actually gets into a fight, he goes out like a wimp.
Speaking of Luke and Mark Hamill: Should they have told us he was going to be in Episode 7 at all? I would think his role would be small enough to have kept secret. Wouldn't ot have been surprising to see Luke standing there at the end when we know the film and the studio told his he is not in the film at all?
Can the dark side 'force Ghost'? No examples yet. Kristian says at 53:53 that that dark force ghosts didn't interfere with Rey in the lightsabre battle, which is correct, but in the TFA audio book, Snoke's voice in her head DOES tell Rey to kill Kylo whilst he lies injured. Suggestion that Rey's fate lies with the dark side then?
I can see kylo and rey switching roles in dark and good sides. I definitely saw some dark in rey just as there's obviously good in kylo (even still I think). thatd b so cool.
The filming location you showed in around 13 min. is Dubrovnik in Croatia - my native country (They start shooting on March 6th)
Mark's the best, I like how he plays along in the intro
Marks reaction to Kristian saying "let me finish my loves" at 40.48 is priceless hahaha
+josh blanksby Looks like old fat Ellis
I love listening to this while doing homework :)
me too
After all these years, council is by far my favorite movie talk show. Love Movie Talk and Heroes, but this is just the best. In depth sweaty Star Wars fest with entertaining guys that know what they're talking about and are passionate about a galaxy far far away. I mean common! You guys are da bes!
Benicio Del Toro is in Guardians of the Galaxy and Star Wars Episode 8. I think this opens up the possibility for actors in Marvel movies can be in Star Wars movies. That idea of Hiddleston as a young Palpatine blew my mind! :)
+Labyrinth35 Sam Jackson's already ahead of all of them lol
That's true, lol. XD
+sam gokhale He definitely has the nose and mouth to play Sidious. Good call.
So glad to see Mark Ellis is back!!!
You guys are the real MVPs of the Star Wars fandom. I hope the people at Disney watch Jedi Council.
Man, Tiffany mentions Lord Of The Rings in conversation as much as Kristian mentions Plaguies. I love it.
Refreshing since collider movie talk.
+Zac Barrows No. He means that he's been waiting for this since movie talk.

I'm from Croatia and I'm soo excited that Ep VIII is filming in Dubrovnik, Croatia. First Game of Thrones and now Star Wars! Nice. :)
+TabsLabRed you guys are soooooooooooo lucky, I wanna visit Dubrovnik even more now
It's a beautiful city. You should visit it. :)
TabsLabRed I REALLY WANT TO, I hope I get the chance
Wish you all the best and hope you'll have a chance. :)
TabsLabRed THANK YOU, all the best to you too ;)
I just can't bring myself to buy a movie on iTunes just to have it a couple weeks before the Blu Ray. Call me old fashioned, but I just love buying and owning a physical copy too much
I know right! Especially when it's a franchise cuz I feel so accomplished when I have them all
Same here!

Ellis is finally back!
Idk what's more surprising. Shane McMahon being back or Ellis being back
I am really looking forward to a Rogue One Trailer! It is time!
Seeing Vader would be awesome.
My first thought for the trailer and essential elements to include would be soldiers yelling, blaster sounds, but the end should have Darth Vader breathing and then the quote"The plans you refer to will soon be back in our hands." Flash Rogue One title. I would love it.
Can't wait for rouge one trailer
I love how you guys know the really obscure Star Wars info but don't know basic stuff like FN-2199
+FarnsworthIII Everybody just have in their head nickname TR-8R im also using this name for him.More memorable.
It's about time you guys got critical about the Star Wars re-hash. I have it on good authority that Harloff didn't want to see a paint by numbers re-telling of the originals, but he's invested up to his eyebrows in the council and has to pretend to be pleased with the film. I know!!!! I was yelling at my screen
Riot trooper= dumbest shit in that movie. Sorry, second worst. Rapthars sucked ass a little more.

Ha!! That's exactly what I was going to post.
+MrAyaneFan Sorry. I forgot to write the 'in my opinion'.
Hi Mark, Kristian, John, and Tiffany, Having recently re-watched 'The Force Awakens' (AGAIN!!) , I was wondering whether "Tell that to Kunja? You can see Maz using the force on the back of the box for 75139 Lego Battle on Takodana. I think the reason for this is because the set was designed prior to the scene being cut from the movie. Lego designs their sets about a year before they are released, and this set came out in the beginning of 2016.
Happy Birthday Campea! Much success to you in your future endeavors
Ellis is that you, i almost forgot what you looked like!
+Star Wars Community Kanjiklub didn't
Welcome back Mark!
love the whole council is on this week! great ep.
Revan and Thrawn are both characters that MUST be made canon. No ifs and buts about it.
FYI: I believe Iceland was used as a template for Sullust in Battlefront. :)
I wonder if Benicio Del Toro will play a Sith Lord who will train Kylo Ren in Lightsaber combat, as requested by Snoke.
For some reason I can picture him in an imperial admiral uniform
The picture for the Star Wars land story, the artwork on the bottom right is from the Art of The Force Awakens.
I'd imagine a lot of people are like me and received one of those "Limited Edition" digital copies with the mini posters as a Christmas gift. DICE took photos in Iceland for the Sullust map. Maybe it's Sullust.
Benicio Del Toro as a Bond Villain's Henchmen is one of his GREAT underrated roles of all time.

Nines (TR-8R) was in Finn's fire team and trained in hand to hand combat with Finn, according to Before the Awakening.
Good job on your Seinfield canon take today! Lots of enthusiasm.
It will be awesome to see the perspective of the Rebel soldiers in battle.
I can't believe it, I missed Mark.
great show again.
When you guys finally post up the Empire Strikes Back commentary im gonna be ready, snacks, beer, and bong.
at first I thought it said thong and I was like Woa what the fuck
The Star Wars planet that was based off of and inspired by Iceland is called Sullust. We have never seen that planet in a Star Wars film before so this news excites me! Come on guys you must have played on that planet on Star Wars Battlefront!
Lets not forget we're already seeing Andy Serkis and Benicio del Toro appear in both Marvel and Star Wars films. I have a feeling were not done seeing Klaue or The Collector in the MCU.
After reading Lost Star novel, I think Nash Windrider might be the founder of the First Order. Maybe even Hux's father....thoughts?
Force Ghosts can actually do a lot more then what we think, remember what Qui-Gon did near the end of the Clone Wars series? And lets not forget what the Force Priestess were able to do.
I love your Jedi Council show! Keep up the outstanding job, ty!
I NEED Revan to be canon again. I loved the Drew Karpyshyn book and the character from KOTOR. I'd like the Exile to be canon as well however I see that being way more unlikely than Revan.
I've never agreed with one of John's comments more. I can't wait to see a world in Star Wars with more than just one climate! lol
And by making us focus on luke we are distracted and happy while they can keep the mystery and probably the big twist hidden but we are feeling like we are getting more info then last time but really it isn't that much (set photos)
I think they used Iceland for the scans and mapping for Battlefront EA. Could it be Sullust? They have featured it a couple of times in New Canon...
Keep up the great weekly content guys! - - I will probably purchase both digital version and Blu Ray
So close Kristian. Mark gave you the answer in his designation... "Nines"
Here's what I hope Benicio character's is:
He's a bad guy, how does he fit into the story?
*shields down*"
33:30 - 33:50 in 0.5 speed is hilarious!
Legends character I want the most to be canon? Kyle Katarn. I just don't know how they'd introduce him.
Also tying it into the question about actors in the MCU in Star Wars. RDJ as Kyle Katarn.
The guys number is fn-2199 and Kristian still thinks he was called sixes
My theory on Captain Phasma's perceived "impotence" in Ep. 7: perhaps the decision to make Phasma seem weak is intentional as a buildup to her taking on a larger role as a character driven in Ep. 8 to get payback for the embarrassment/shame she feels for her actions in Ep. 7.
YEAH!!!!!!!
I'm Icelandic, i'm sooo going to try to be an extra in SW8
To John, it seems that EVERY working actor today is a "top 5 actor". Still going to miss him though on the regular Collider shows.
Please name every actor he has mentioned along with the "top 5 actors working today"
DUDE IF IT IS RELEASED ON MY BIRTHDAY. BOOM!!! BEST BIRTHDAY EVER. My birthday is the 15th, and I'm turning 21. That would be awesome.
Didn't Pablo Hidalgo confirm that only light siders can become Force Ghosts? Also Qui Gon Jinn moved furniture, blew out candles and lifted Yoda in season 6 of the Clone Wars.
Funny thing is in season 3 he actually materializes himself on Morris, but in season 6 he hasn't fully learned how yet.
Maybe it's different in a nexus in the Force ...
Mark is baaaaaaaack!!
The 3 BluRay discs will probably be the DVD disc, Regular BluRay disc, and the 3-D BluRay disc.
Lol @ John. Great way to put it about getting the iTunes release.
