I think Kylo should have absolutely taken the mask off, just as it happened in the film. It humanises him which was needed to have a different take on the generic bad guy. It showed that he was just a young, troubled guy.
I absolutely agree. People say "He wasn't enough like Vader"-guys. He WASN'T Vader. He's his own character, with different layers. I thought he was great and can't wait to see where he goes next.
As George watched Mark Reilly do Star Wars Trilogy in 30 min he finally didn't have the urge to say "Faster and More Intense". Happy Birthday George.... and thank you.
I love how character names are considered spoilers now. We're gonna get to a point in the near future where the fucking color scheme is gonna be considered a spoiler.
I love that Donnie Yen (can't remember the name of his character at the moment) is described as a "spiritual warrior" because it goes with my theory that he's force sensitive but never became a Jedi. They said there'd be no Jedi in the film, but there could always be other kinds of force users, especially with Vader all but confirmed at this point. And Donnie Yen's character appears to be blind. A blind guy wouldn't be able to just K.O. a stormtrooper with his walking stick like he did in the trailer unless he's got something else going on.
+TJ Hastie We've seen other groups of people in both canon and Legends who use the Force, but aren't Jedi. Such as the Father, son, and daughter in Clone Wars, the Witches of Dathomir who first appeared in in the EU then later canonized in Clone Wars, and the Fallanassi from the Black Fleet Crisis Trilogy who worship the White Current. The white current is how they perceive the Force, and they use it differently from Jedi and Sith just like the others I've mentioned.
This is the first time I see Maude on the council and I love her! She obviously loves Star Wars, understands the mythology, has a great knowledge on canon, good chemistry with the others and doesn't shout so loud like another certain blonde on TV talks, not mention her good looks and accent.
+GED I recently discovered the Game of Thrones episode recap show that the SourceFedNERD TH-cam channel does, and Maude Garrett is one of the people that does that recap show. I absolutely love her on the Game of Thrones recap show, so as soon as I saw that Maude Garrett was one of the people on the panel for this week's episode of Collider Jedi Council, I automatically gave this video a thumbs up. :)
LOVE THE SPOILER TAG!!! Just leave it up the whole time spoilers are being discussed. Please use this on all Collider videos such as Heroes, Movie Talk, etc. GREAT IDEA!!!
Consider his back story and what he's been through and he is one of the most powerful characters that will exist in the Star Wars universe. Hold your judgement until Episode IX or until he is killed off first.
You guys literally brought me to tears with your birthday speeches to George. Thank you for that and well done, guys! Excellent episode, great speeches, and of course....THANK YOU George Lucas and the happiest of birthdays! The Force will be with you, always.
+DustingBread Why? A couple of the products are OK, or is it because the ads are so annoying and you refuse to watch. Do you press the Skip Ad button? I hate those ads that are too short to have a 'skip'.
I love this show so much! It's honestly the one thing that I look forward to seeing every Thursday! I also enjoy trying to get other people to watch the show as well :)
The thing about Darth Bane being canonised in TCW is that he was actually originally created by George Lucas (at least according to Wookieepedia) when he was writing the backstory to the prequels, whereas Revan was, as far as I know, more or less entirely the creation of Bioware for KotOR. So it's easier to integrate Bane into the new canon because he was always a part of George's vision, he was always the Sith that created the Rule of Two. Granted it's fairly easy to fit Revan in as well because of course he's from 4,000 years before the films, but I think the story group might see it as more of a leap.
Oh man. That scene that they're talking about, that comes from Episode 8, sounds amazing. Seriously, tidbits like that are why I'm so pumped about Episode 8.
As am I, we must all remember this is not too far after he crossed over to the dark side. Therefore the loss of Padme, and what Vader assumes to be the twins too, still weighs heavy on him. I can't wait to see him raw as hell :D
Phil Corrigan it's still not that far off, there is a reason why this is supposed to be a brutal Vader. I mean at the end of Episode III they already started building the Death Star so this is not to long after that. It wouldn't have been that long, maybe a year or two if that.
+Dom Anthony Jesus Showing the Death Star under construction at the end of Episode III was just one of thousands of things wrong with the prequels. It made no sense. But Rogue One definitely takes place just before IV. It's about the mission to get the plans that Leia has on the Tantive IV. So Vader will be just like he is in that movie.
Phil Corrigan yes you're right, I remember in IV they said lots of spies died for this Intel so don't let their deaths be in vain. It was when Luke was going to be a pilot and Han was taking of, on Yavin 4 I believe? Right before the attack on the death star. That's why this movie has me so hyped, it will give even more back story to the star wars canon, I'm all for that.
Man oh man it's so great to have Maude back. We missed you something fierce! (However...what is wrong with jumping, bouncing, ass-kicking Yoda? It was AH-MAZING!)
To the council: Mads Mikkelsen's first name is pronounced without the "d" in it. Very common in Denmark -Just say "Mas" ;) Great show guys, thanx again for making my Fridays so much better :D
POTENTIAL EPISODE VIII SPOILERS I read the action scene description. If it's true, we're gonna get something I've always wanted, which is an outdoor lightsaber fight at sunset. Rian Johnson definitely knows how to shoot a beautiful-looking scene in those kinds of conditions. This is like a dream come true.
If Yoda is in 8, I can't think he will still be 'guiding' Luke. Luke should not need guidance anymore. I think Yoda may be around more as a friend. If he was around for guidance, where was he when Luke was training Ben Solo?
the one who should appear in 8 of the ghosts is anakin i just think it makes more sense to the story and can give wisdom from experience in the dark side
+Tol Haller Maybe, yeah. If Yoda is there I would think it's more like the relationship between Mace Windu and Yoda, pretty much conferring in each other and being close friends.
Maude is tha best! bring her back again soon! (this time less than a year)! great show guys! thanks for all the spoiler alerts, i still watched all the way through tho cause i wanna know everything about star wars! :D
I completely disagree with Maude the thing that makes Kylo different from Vader is that from the first film we see him as a human being and in a lot of ways this new series will be his story as well. Lucas added layers to Vader with Empire and Jedi but I really love that from the start we see Kylo as a person who is lost it gives him his own flavor and shows how much he wants to be Vader instead of making him another Vader that is an important difference in my opinion. This character is nowhere near as intimidating as Vader and as such does not need to have the shroud held as tightly but can be seen as flawed from the start, and I think that is something really cool about what the Force Awakens kicked off and this new series can take that character to so many amazing places.
As for Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO, I think they are REALLY close to making it cannon, and for KOTOR too. AND their newest expansion with updates for it are AWESOME story telling
I think it is really hard to rate the new canon books because they are all so different. To comment on the "Top 3": Lost Stars is great because it works so well together with the original trilogy and the different perspective really helps to understand the SW universe better and makes watching the old movies an even better experience than it was before. I also liked that the story is about two very unimportant characters that just live their lifes without affecting anything on a galactic scale. This really makes you emotional invested in these characters. However, I thought the writing was a bit "cheesy" at times. Bloodlines introduces us to a time we don't really know anything about. So we learn a lot about canon. The writing is very good and the plot serves the overall story well. We also visit many worlds which is nice to keep the imagination going. It answers a lot of the questions we were left with after TFA and we get a better inside view into Leia. There are other characters but we don't really get to know them that good. So emotional we basically only follow Leia, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Lords of the Sith feels very different from the other two books because of the different author and because the story is about only one day and not a longer period of time. We learn more about the two Sith themselves and we get a deeper inside into an occupied world. However, I thought the second half of the book was a bit too long with only very few things happening. That being said, I liked the darker atmosphere. This would probably be a good "war"movie because it could have easily been told in 120 Minutes and has lots of action that would look great on the big screen (I hope that Rogue One will feel like this book). Which one is the best? I'm not even sure for myself so I definitely can't decide for you. In my opinion, these three books are all worth reading.
really liked "fall of the resistance" for ep 8 title! the character descriptions for rogue 1 were interesting, but nothing I couldn't already speculate. I want to see cad bane in rebels!!
I've been playing Galaxy of Heroes every day since it was launched. It's a lot of fun. Not much going for it in the story department, but the roster of characters is incredible. Lots of fun! I recommend it for all Star Wars fans and mobile gamers! Amazing graphics and gameplay!
+Vinton Bonner Commander has a small story line that is in the Star Wars Universe. Just like KOTOR, it's in the Star Wars Universe. They don't actually tell the Star Wars story just apart of it. So why can't you guys have acceptance for that. Same with Star Wars Uprising it tells someone else's story in the Star Wars Universe. You guys are always asking for the SW Universe to be bigger, well here are some other stories in the SWU. Yeah they aren't that big of stories cause yes they are only app games.
John Meschke I'm not complaining, and please don't group me together with the people who are. ''They don't actually tell the Star Wars story just apart of it. So why can't you guys have acceptance for that.'' ''You guys are always asking for the SW Universe to be bigger, well here are some other stories in the SWU'' I have nothing to do with either of those statements, and you are wrong to put me in it with the people who do. I'm thinking perhaps you misunderstood my comment, because I was defending the app games, specifically Galaxy of Heroes.
You guys forgot Tarkin. Here's my list in order of preference (haven't read Battlefront: Twilight yet): Lords of the Sith, Lost Stars, Bloodline, Tarkin, New Dawn, Dark Disciple, Aftermath, Heir to the Jedi. Enjoyed them all, but Lords had me feverishly turning pages with excitement. More from Paul S. Kemp and Claudia, please and thank you.
So happy to see Maude on Jedi Council again, I forgot how much I missed her with this group
I think Kylo should have absolutely taken the mask off, just as it happened in the film. It humanises him which was needed to have a different take on the generic bad guy. It showed that he was just a young, troubled guy.
+Josh Blanksby - It's a great subversion of expectations. Why would Han and Leia's son look evil?
+TubeEamo Precisely.
I absolutely agree. People say "He wasn't enough like Vader"-guys. He WASN'T Vader. He's his own character, with different layers. I thought he was great and can't wait to see where he goes next.
+Fortner Films 2016 Exactly, and they even used that knowing he wouldn't be able to top Vader and added it to his character.
Not only that but that reveal that JJ made about him later describes just how disturbed he is.
Maude thanks for coming back. You're the best, never been forgotten, and greatly missed 😟
Ikr, it's like the name of a movie is going to be a spoiler. It's crazy!
You're correct. Once the title for episode 8 is leaked it will be considered a spoiler.
Wait, there's an episode 9?!?! Fucking spoiler for episode 8! Now I know episode 8 isn't the end!
+KingofDemise666 the title was already leaked and people are freaking out because of it.
episode 8: c3-po dies
Nice episode it's great to have Maude back
If this was the permanent line-up from now on, I'd be more than happy. Come back home, Maude. We miss you.
Thanks for not spoiling the Ep. 8 scene, it's way more exciting that way !!
I havent being here since the amc days so maude being here is a treat.
Thank you for reading my question out. Made my day. Keep up the good show
Nice to see Maude back on the show, even if it's only temporary. This was a pleasant beginning to my evening.
I read the article. Holy shit. I'm thinking VIII is going to be the best Star Wars film yet. Rian Johnson is insanely talented.
+Jarrett Edwards Where I can find this article I went to starwars.com and I don't find it. So where
Thanks
+Isabelle Malo makingofstarwars
The theater cleaners are going to have to go overtime after Episode VIII.
+Jarrett Edwards That scene is gonna be incredible. Luke Skywalker is a total badass. That bit w/ the green lightsaber and force push. AWESOME.
Exept for the part where Rey is reluctant to do it. That does not match with Rey from TFA. Since she wanted to do it when she was captured.
Thanks for coming back Maude, don't be a stranger :)
This is the first time I see Maude on the council and I love her! She obviously loves Star Wars, understands the mythology, has a great knowledge on canon, good chemistry with the others and doesn't shout so loud like another certain blonde on TV talks, not mention her good looks and accent.
Great show. Welcome back Maude!
First time I've seen Maude and I fucking love her..!! Now that's a StarWars fan.!!!!
+GED I recently discovered the Game of Thrones episode recap show that the SourceFedNERD TH-cam channel does, and Maude Garrett is one of the people that does that recap show. Kilo Ren is SUPPOSED to be vulnerable, you see his face in order to see how weak he actually is in the first movie.
Consider his back story and what he's been through and he is one of the most powerful characters that will exist in the Star Wars universe. Hold your judgement until Episode IX or until he is killed off first.
Jedi Academy: A Star Wars Story staring Sebastian Stan after the events of Return of The Jedi
Oh shit, Maude is back! This is great!
Maude!!! So glad to see you even if it is just for this one episode!! Guys, love the show, as usual
You guys literally brought me to tears with your birthday speeches to George. Thank you for that and well done, guys! Excellent episode, great speeches, and of course....THANK YOU George Lucas and the happiest of birthdays! The Force will be with you, always.
I will never buy a product from a TH-cam ad.
+DustingBread Why? A couple of the products are OK, or is it because the ads are so annoying and you refuse to watch. Do you press the Skip Ad button? I hate those ads that are too short to have a 'skip'.
you realize this is a business, right?
I will never even watch a TH-cam ad.
Hello? Adblock? I never have any ads show up
Great episode! Loved seeing Maude on the show.

Does anyone have a link to the making Star Wars scene leak?
+Declan Pollard You can find it on Making Star Wars pretty easily.
The scene might be the most bad ass (not best) scene is Star Wars EVER. Comics, games, books included.
Battlefront burned the fans. It's going to take an amazing game with an outstanding campaign to bring the fans back.
I missed Maude and her random Pokemon references so much. Glad she came back for an episode.
"funny that you said night" = sick ass scene introducing the Knights of Ren
Welcome back Maude we love you!!!
being both a fan of sourcefed and collider, this made my day :)
I'm hoping to see Darth Vader as being almost like Jason Voorhees, just relentless and brutal.
As am I, we must all remember this is not too far after he crossed over to the dark side. Therefore the loss of Padme, and what Vader assumes to be the twins too, still weighs heavy on him. I can't wait to see him raw as hell :D

Great show guys, thanx again for making my Fridays so much better :D
Maude is so Star Wars savvy please keep her on!
Yeay! Maud! Welcome back! Missen you so much! :)
One stormtrooper saw Vader's face in Vader Down comic. Vader quickly force spins his neck on a 360
Opening gives me chills every time
SUPER FREAKING EXCITED FOR EPISODE 8 THANK YOU FOR NOT SPOILING THE SCENE!!! I WILL TRY TO AVOID IT UP UNTIL IT SHOWS UP IN MY YAHOO NEWS AT LEAST
Where's Tarkin in your list Harloff?
I happened to like Yoda flipping around and being a badass thank you very much...
A new Jedi Council has arrived! Now the weekend officially begins for me! After this, on to Schmoes!
POTENTIAL EPISODE VIII SPOILERS
I read the action scene description. If it's true, we're gonna get something I've always wanted, which is an outdoor lightsaber fight at sunset. Rian Johnson definitely knows how to shoot a beautiful-looking scene in those kinds of conditions. This is like a dream come true.
"You're wearing an Empire hat as we speak!" Hahahaha!
I really hope we see all three force ghosts in Episode VIII.
If Yoda is in 8, I can't think he will still be 'guiding' Luke. Luke should not need guidance anymore. I think Yoda may be around more as a friend. If he was around for guidance, where was he when Luke was training Ben Solo?

Maybe he WAS there. We don't know.
Just speculation.
+Tol Haller Maybe, yeah. If Yoda is there I would think it's more like the relationship between Mace Windu and Yoda, pretty much conferring in each other and being close friends.
Ahhhh
Wouldn't be Thursday w/out my favorite Star Wars talk show!
Great to have Maude drop by!

Many Bothans died, to bring Maude Mothma back.
And then there's that old compromisin', enterprisin', anything but tranquilizin',
Right on Maude!

Welcome back, Maude!
MISSED YOU MAUDE XOXOXOX! SO HAPPY!
Awesome Maude is back!
Great panel today
As for Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO, I think they are REALLY close to making it cannon, and for KOTOR too. AND their newest expansion with updates for it are AWESOME story telling
Good to have Maude back on the show!
Great show. Maude was great to have on council. Bring her back when can.
great group and awesome news excited for everything to come
amazing episode every member contributes so much to the conversation! x(tiffany)x
Another great solid episode. Thanks!
I think it is really hard to rate the new canon books because they are all so different. To comment on the "Top 3":

Holy crap! He actually said something nice about the prequels! 32:15.
I never once thought that Vader wasn't gonna be in it.
Maude is here! I miss the Star Wars show on SourceFed.
OMG MAUDE!!!! YES!!!
Maude we've missed you hope you come back on again soon
You guys forgot Tarkin. Here's my list in order of preference (haven't read Battlefront: Twilight yet): Lords of the Sith, Lost Stars, Bloodline, Tarkin, New Dawn, Dark Disciple, Aftermath, Heir to the Jedi. Enjoyed them all, but Lords had me feverishly turning pages with excitement. More from Paul S. Kemp and Claudia, please and thank you.
Honestly, Ciena looks exactly as I pictured her in Lost Stars.
I was expecting shorter hair but other than that she's pretty close
Please let the Jedi Council be a real news channel, to me I think that it is implied that a news channel has spoilers.
you guys played up that battlefront scene so much. I was so disappointed by it since you all made it out to be something crazy
Can we have more Maude on Jedi Council? She's great!
great to see Maude back the Queen Amaudala. Damn it Kristian, you had one job! lol
O.k. guys you just made me go look at the description of that scene and all I can say is OMG, yes, yes, yes, make it true.
It's great to see Maude back!
OMG Maudie!!!!!!!!! I love you Maudie! You made my day by popping into JC. :)
Kristian your George Lucas impression is fucking hiliarious
Lords of The Sith, Tarkin, and Battlefront: Twilight Company are my favorite Star Wars book.
So happy to see Maude again!
Nice to see you Maude Garrett
Wish you guys were going to Star Wars celebrations, even just one of you!
I'm so glad Maude came back
you forgot tarkin in your list kristian!
Underated film, more people need to see Willow.
YESSSSS Maude is Back!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really enjoyed New Dawn after reading Tarkin in that 'Rise of the Empire' or whatever it was called. Also appreciated it having watched Rebels.
I've missed Maude. :(
Maude please come on more often!
