BART's Complete Trip from Pittsburg/Bay Point to MacArthur

- Experience for the first time one of the longest stretches on the Bay Area's Rapid Transit system, as a 9-car San Francisco Airport train travels from Pittsburg/Bay Point Station to MacArthur Station in Oakland during the mid-afternoon hours on a sunny Bay Area weekday.
In total, the stretch between these two stops is roughly 35-40 minutes each way, and is one of the couple sections throughout BART that runs alongside a freeway. Another example: the stretch between Bay Fair and Dublin/Pleasanton in Alameda County. Some of the visual attractions on this ride include a quiet trek on Highway 4 over the Willow Pass hills near Bay Point, passing by the Concord maintenance facility, and crossing county lines into Oakland through the Berkeley hills tunnel west of Orinda.
Pittsburg/Bay Point geographically is BART's northernmost stop, plus the starting point for all San Francisco Airport (weekdays) and San Francisco Airport/Millbrae trains (weekdays after 7pm, plus weekends). MacArthur is the first available southbound transfer point where passengers can switch between the Fremont, San Francisco/Millbrae and San Francisco Airport trains. During weekends and on weekdays past 7pm, the San Francisco Airport/Millbrae train replaces the Richmond-line Millbrae train as the only connection to Millbrae Station.
Among BART's five lines, the Pittsburg/Bay Point-SFO route is its busiest and longest, in terms of distance, total journey time and daily ridership. Consequently, it typically carries longer trains of 8, 9 or 10 cars during most operating hours.

I'm a kid and I've always wanted to ride the Bart subway. It looks so awesome.
It is fun but can be dangerous. There’s lots of shady people on BART. It attracts lots of homeless that stink up the trains
@@rachellemarie9291 I GOT LYSOL!!!
this BART operator sounds perfectly loud and clear
37:52 Hey Spongebob! The train is here!
nice, I always took martinez bart to fremont and the bus to san jose. but now I moved so I take the el cerrito del Norte train to fremont because it goes directly to there so I don't have to transfer off at like MacArthur.
Niko here they're going to expand to San Jose
Bart is my favorite

used to live in sf during the 80s. found a way to travel from concord to sf round trip for a dollar and 20 cents. u would enter bart at concord using a regular 1.20 ticket. exit in sf using a muni pass. enter bart in sf using your muni pass then exit concord with the 1.20 regular bart ticket. rode that way for years
im from argentina, i impressed from this video; amazing propulsion sound, and amazing speed, if i would build an railway system i chice this rolling stock technology.

Great video of the longest stretch. It's something BART riders and tourists would enjoy. By the way, I had this operator once on a Fremont train leaving at 3:58pm (she filled in for an operator called Steve). I only had her once, so I didn't get to introduce herself. I guess she does operate out of Bay Point. One thing I do recognize though is her voice when she's like "Train is going to [Destination]" In my case, Fremont.
I had this same operator on a Daly City train departing from Dublin Pleasanton at 1:44 PM on 8/18/14
I still like bart because I haven't rode it in a while
yup!
bartfansma BART is my favorite transit agency
I have a huge voice crush on this operator.
I live in Portland so I always have to ride the Trimet Max.
Why do you keep filming inside the train? I wish you would show the windows more often.

Great Video! Love the propulsion! Do you know what it is? I use to know, but I forgot.
It’s related to R142A, R143 and R188 subway cars
I used to take the train all the way from Balboa Park to Pittsburg/Bay Point. Not fun at ALL.
That’s farrr!
