Hello, fellow TH-camrs. This video is for you BMW X5 e70 or X6 E71 owners. I wanted to show you guys an easier way to replace the roller blind sliding shutters for your interior cup holder. In the past we had a 08 BMW X5 e70 and the rolling blinds were damaged. I had to remove the entire center console along with the driver and passenger seat, just to remove the cup holder assembly from the console. Trust me guys it's not very user-friendly.
REMEMBER guys the bigger blind slides down from the top and the smaller blind slides up from the bottom. (Recap) Bigger blind is closest to the dashboard and the smaller blind is closest to the gear shifter.

This was just what the doctor ordered!! I was dreading taking out the entire console for the past year and ran across this video. 😂😂 ..Got it done within 30 minutes.
I'm glad that my video could help you, the very first time I took out the whole console to fix it and then it broke again and I was like I can't do this again I had to figure out a better way.
Roller blinds replaced thanks to this video! I believe this is the only one that shows how to replace the blinds without taking apart the whole console. I was scare to trim at the beginning but it’s all covered and works perfect. Thank you for sharing!!
No problem I'm glad I could easily show you how to replace your roller blinds. That's the reason why I recorded how to replace them because there were no videos on TH-cam to show you how to do it. TH-cam has helped me so many times in the past. I just wanted to give back to the community.
This video was SPOT ON. Took me a whole 10 minutes to get the new sliders installed. Hardest part was getting out the broken ones. PS; I also just used pliers to break the parts instead of grinding them down.

Have you tried this on 2017 X5? Great video… this is the only one I found that shows how to replaced the sliding cover.
No I've never tried it on a 2017 but it should be either easier or similar

My roller blinds on both sides of cupholder fell apart today in rolling them openon my 2011 X5M. I got first/ second slats pulled up ( with silver handle things )- but the other ones are kinda rolled back and down / under cupholder / cig lighter. How did you get them out? Your video is super - will do that tomorrow - just trying to figure out how to pull back slats (sticks ) out. Maybe needle nose pliers ?

I just broke the tabs off with a pare of pliers ans the corners at the top as well. No dremel needed:)
Yeah I know it's different ways to do it. Lol sometimes I just looked for reasons to use my Dremel

I'm actually having the trim pieces vinyl-wrapped with carbon fiber wrap that's why I didn't show it
Cool sounds in your intro. : ) My rear one broke today, surprised me. Thousands have probably tried Super Glue. But the surface area for contact is very thin.

Yeah I know what you mean I tried super glue multiple times it work for a little bit but then it finally broke. I got tired of always being scared to close it. This way is very simple and doesn't damage anyway

@@JOATD : going to look for one on ebay. Either that or just not even worry about it. Truth is, I don't use the thing. At all. It always remains in the open position, retracted. Probably became semi plastic welded into place from years of not moving. Then I decide to wipe it off, and there it goes.
Next problem I have with these cars is the rubber around some of the windows breaking off and departing the vehicle. First I have noticed of that was a couple days ago. Not impressed.

Thanks for this video, but how did you remove the broken one? how can i remove the individual sticks stuck inside the
Cup holder? I am not sure about buying the new sliding shutters if then I'm unable to install them due to the old broken part inside. 🙏

You remove the individual sticks just like if they were the whole piece. Stack them together and pull them all out at one time. Once you break off the clips All The Broken Pieces should come out.
I trust your judgement.the push down is for rattle did you add felt to fix the rattle or was that not an issue?
I have no issue with ratatoing at all. It's actually there just to stop it from coming out of the slot. But even though I removed them it still stays in place.
You dont need to break or cut anything.
How did you do that?
