    The front backpack thing is a lot more common in Tokyo in busy times than in less populated areas, where less people know about it. It's good for people in other areas to know about it too tho.

    They actually do this in other countries too, like the Philippines, but for completely different reasons.
    They do it to mitigate theft as it allows them to monitor their bag better compared to when it's on their back, especially when the train's packed.
