Regarding the "Reanimate" affix.
It does NOT work as the Raise Skeleton skill from the Necromancer. Instead, it works as the Revive skill from the Necromancer, if it was applied to a corpse from the Returned enemy that appears in areas like Tristram, the Black Marsh and the Halls of the Dead (not to the actual enemy corpse that's consuming). They're revived monsters, not skeletons. That's why they aren't white, and also why they move weirdly: everyone who has played a Necromancer knows that monsters raised using Revive have a dumber AI than the skeletons.
I remember that, years ago, I used an inventory editor to have some fun messing around. I found out that this affix isn't hard-coded, and the enemy selected by the affix can be changed to any enemy in the game. Warning: selecting enemies not normally able to be raised by the Necromancer may lead to undesirable results, as some enemy skills are hard-coded to work against the player regardless of which side the caster is. For example, selecting Diablo as the enemy to be revived may sound fun, until the revived Diablo casts Bone Prison on an enemy, but instead, it imprisons the player.
Since Blizzard fixed the attack speed bug we are back to classic frame breakpoints, and tomb reaver is one of the few items you can use to get to 4 frame fury. This fortunately only needs 30% ias to reach, which means in an ethereal you can use a zod with 2x ed/ias jewels and still hit that breakpoint.
This change disgusted me. I don’t think it’s 4 frame anymore. Wolf hits like a chump now. I use a Tomb Reaver and the kill speed change is drastic.

I had no idea that this is one of the best druid shapeshifter weapons. I main shapeshifter Werebear
Tomb reaver is a Ilvl 86 unique though. so even though the base TC is rather low, this means only uniques, minions and champions (not counting superuniques and bosses) in area 83 and up can actually drop the tomb reaver. It will not drop from chests or regular monsters anywhere. Bosswise only Baal, diablo and Nihlathak can drop it.
I found one off a trash mob in the pit the other day
@@brianm7109 Simply not possible. Must have been a minion of a unique. Pit is Alvl85 and regular mobs do not get a bonus to their Alvl=Mlevel formula so cannot drop an Ilvl86 item. Just look it up in any d2 drop calculator and you'll see 0 hits on regular monsters.
@@barryschalkwijk9388 Ah, you're probably right, there was too much death and destruction to tell for sure what it dropped from... But as far as the drop calculators go, I found a Jah rune off a regular monster in Hell Tristram and that wasn't on any drop calculators that I checked.
Jah is Ilevel 65 and can drop in act1 hell from regular monsters but not from chests. I have not seen any calculators on runes btw.

Just found an Eth 248 ED 3 OS. I’m super excited.
On some of my Merc variations, a ShaelBerBer Eth Tomb Reaver works pretty nicely.

If I recall correctly shapeshifting can only benefit from the weapon IAS and any other IAS is pretty much useless to him. A Shealed Buriza-Do Kyanon actually carried me throught hell untill I made my BoTD.
It was nice with the ias bug off weapon ias helped like it should.
I always thought "life after kill" was an under-stated keyword: for instance if you do 100 dmg then 10% lifesteal would net 10 dmg, minus resistances its at least 1-2 hp per hit. That is WAY more valuable than post kill health (in-combat stats better than post-combat). I think it should be double or triple expected ls values. Like +20-30 on later game items like this.
Lifesteal is a weird mechanic, i still don't know if it's based on damage, enemy life or damage but influenced by difficulty. Try it out, players 1 or players 5, you steal a LOT more health on higher players. Players 1, i'd regain like 150-200 health per hit, players 5 i got 700-800 per hit.
Just found a very nice one now wondering if I should give to my magic find barb or druid....
This was my first gg Merc item I found in d2r I got a good Ed roll but only 2 sockets.
It's a great Merc weapon, especially for magic finding.
i use this with my merc (javazon). its very good. socketed it with 3 p skulls and arm my merc with tal rasha helmet and he is now immortal. the revives are useless and they only cause more harm than good.

The regular tomb reaver with the ias bug was stronger than the eth one is now. It’s was fun while it lasted.
that can only be true if you attacked more than 50% faster when the attack speed bug was up.

2:52 when you switched weapons you also switched abilities. (switching from feral rage to Fury) this makes the hit speed comparison invalid.
Interesting I didn't notice. It hardly makes any difference though the Buriza is still way faster. Just as the cryptic axe can hit 4 frames.
The 100% on the Buriza is actually overkill.
@@GGMentor Agreed that it is certainly way faster and that 100 IAS is surely faster, its just the frenzy and fury animations are so different and even with the same weapon frenzy and fury abilities will look to be "different speeds"
they need to fix the character's hand placement on polearms, it looks so silly and wrong. Same problem with taller shields the hand placement is way too high and looks really wrong as well.
Last night I saw this video about super rare Tomb Reaver, and suprisingly today I got (Ethereal Tomb Reaver cryptic axe) from finishing Baal Hell Mode. Only from 1st attempt with my Sorcerers. 😂 😀.
I made it with +315% Magic Find

hmm you know I don't think I have ever checked that. My assumption is yes it does, but is also doesn't really go off that often.

You were comparing feral rage and fury. Of course it's gonna look slower.
Yes I noticed after, bit even after going back and checking again it was still noticably slower.
u use diferent abilities to attack, in the case of buriza u use one that increase sped attack, no sense.

This entire thing has been made moot however by the druid IAS change in 2.4
Shit weapon, unless it's close to perfect and eth with ZOD, which is impossible to find from anywhere else than internet. I got one with not the best ED and it has pretty much the same damage than tresher insight. You should use mid stat items for evaluation instead of perfect items so we would get something practical out of your item reviews instead of just inspirations to go spend 50$ to an internet store. Love you
