In America, lots of brick and mortar stores are closing at a rapid pace. Employees have found out they lost their job by going to the store and seeing that it closed!
I think the middle class, who use these sites, are now not shopping as much due to the economy not doing well for a majority (people are losing their jobs-the tech industry is getting decimated, in America).
I have read that luxury brands get a lot of their money from the middle class who would continuously purchase, however, now that people are tightening the purse strings, these sites will continue to lose traffic. I thought that was interesting. However, those “to the manor born” will keep shopping from the brand directly-sparingly.
Oh, the Louboutin metallic clutch is stunning!
I agree that you should wait a bit to see if the prices go down!
You looked lovely Jess💕
Deflation, even regional banks are closing in America.
You hit the nail on the head! So many good points! 🥰 thanks so much 🌸🌸🌸🌸
Even in Asia we can see shops that promote beauty & slimming services are shutting down bcus economy is slowing down and essential goods and utilities are pricier
I’ll miss Matches, they’d have the best deals for most things.
Great video today! It's sad that so many are losing their jobs when a e-commerce business closes. Good for those seeking a sale, but not so for the employees. Most of us are trying to shop smarter, and that reflects in business' sales. Hopefully it won't last forever. ❤
Agree! I feel for the people who lost their job
For me, my desire to buy less online is simply because I've been burned too many times going to a brand's site, and the actual colours of items I've purchased are simply not the same as they are in real life. As an example, I purchased a Burberry bag that was, online, what looked to be a perfect dusty pink/beige, for example, only to get it and it was a dull taupe/grey. Or a seemingly neon Versace orange tote that was a dull Crayola orange when I got it. I just can't trust that the images I see online are true to life. So, I've gotten to the point where, if I can't see it in person, or I can't find a non-studio produced image (just a picture of someone's bag on Ebay or Poshmark, for example) for reference, I won't bother.
same even from sites like CHO they lied about a Barbour jacket and sold it as white, it was a dull grey, they edited the picture, which is bad enough, but lied in the naming of the colour!
Thanks for sharing your experience!! I can relate
Wow. I didn’t know they were going under. I have purchased from them around 2017 & 2018.
Hope you’re well Jess ✨🌟💫
Thanks Mel!!! Have a beautiful day 🌺
The last time I purchased from matches was in 2018/2019. Idk what happened but they went downhill after. Shipping was no longer free. Mechanics were quite confusing. Site also became quite difficult to browse through. Things became more expensive it makes no difference vs buying from the actual boutique. Am from Singapore and certain brands are also excluded from the site e.g. Prada
It just no longer makes sense
Thanks for your thoughts! 💭
I really enjoy your videos. I hope that someday soon you start to gain subs at a faster rate. It would be well deserved.
Awww thanks nubby 🥰 I’m glad I have grown as much as I have in any case
Thanks for this video! I’m so happy to see you have an Issey miyake bag from Japan. I got one too, but yours is so cute!
Hehe yes!!! I love the mini crossbody styles too but they are like $1000 on matches!!!
I use to buy quite a bit from Matches, in fact I was able to score hard to find Louboutins there. I can't recall why I stop shopping there? I think I just moved on to other brands? It was always a good experience for me. I still have some of the reusable boxes they use to ship items.
Just got a Toteme piece I wanted and now I am looking at The Row. Didn’t realise they were also 20% off.
It’s very tempting!
The only thing that concerns me is that costumers are complaining they are noy able to return orders before they went into administration, so the question is if you'd be able to return items?
Good point!!
I never heard of this. I wanna check out that UGG bag
Insightful and informative ❤
I generally purchase with an online discount after I've checked the item out in store. I only buy instore if the SA has given me a lot of help finding item size, or advising on size/styling etc 😊 My shopping has changed this year. Its nearly April, and ive only bought one top, one pair of jeans, and one vintage bag (Coach daypack in colour british tan)
Good work!!! I have bought a few pieces of clothing but not as much as in recent years 🥰
@@Jessiestyle I did an online styling course, and it emphasised planning what to wear for the activities you have upcoming for the next season (office time, wfh, gym, going out, special nights out etc).then working out if you have outfits for each activity (given how many times you are comfortable rewearing an outfit etc). It gave me a clear idea on what I needed...which was nothing much!
Interesting how things have changed. I’ve never shopped on their website but theses sales are very low.
I’ve noticed net-a-porter has reduced their stock and new items quite a bit. Hopefully they are preparing for whatever seems to be coming.
I love shopping on Outnet but only when sales are 85% off 😂
I was sooo close to buying a Pleats Please jacket in Japan last year, but they didn’t have my size... might go scour Matches for it! Thanks for the tip off, Jess! ❤
Ooooo exciting!
They needed influencer marketing, never see them.
❤
Far too expensive for what we get, pls be serious !
