Hey all! Want to correct a mistake I said in the video. The Laphroaig Lore actually comes in a 45 PPM instead of 86 PPM like I stated in the video. Even Bulls make mistakes 😂
Great list of peated Scotch Whisky. My favs in order are: 1. Lagavulin 16. Complex and beautiful. 2. Ardbeg 10. Rocket fuel 3. Caol Ila 12. My go to whisky 4. Port Charlotte 12 5. Bowmore 12
My wife made the most incredible statement after observing the amount of bottles in your bar... she said "The more you have, the longer they last". Time to go shopping!
just did 5 accessible Islays (peated) blind w 4 of us (one bro from Scotland) and here was my lineup 5 Bowmore 12 (felt like Lagavulin w flavor-sliders dropped down) 4 Port Charlotte 10 - ok, just a level above in flavor from the BM 12 3 Ardbeg 10. Thought it would be top 2 and surprised it was less smokey and more peaty than it was. Really liked it but not as much as would have thought. VERY light in color. 2 Laphroaig 10 MUCH more smokey than we would have thought. Thoughtit was dirt/peat special (not in bad way) but was either 1 or 2 for all of us... Stunned 1 ....for ALL of us, immediately knowing/declaring this was the best Lagavulin 16...gonna say the fact its 16 years gives the advantage. All sliders pulled up to max. NGL we all did this to "prove" we weren't biased towards Lagavulin...nope. its worth the $88 it costs here in FL
Ardbeg Uigeadail is a favorite but I'm also very partial to Ledaig 10yo. From the Isle of Mull, distinctive campfire-smoke peat. Non chill filtered, natural colored. With a drop of water, very complex, sweet and sour, raisiny.
I completely agree with you on 3 of the 5 (Ardbeg, Lagavulin, and Port Charlotte). Haven't ever tried the other 2, but I just put them on my shopping list. Thanks!!
Ardbeg 10 was a lot more refined than I expected. A classy whisky. Ugadail uis amped up. Ledaig 10 is super. It's more like dried, smokey meat (bacon, capicola, etc....). Lagavulin 16 is so easy drinking. Then there is the Machri Mor, Port Charlotte 10, Laphroaig Sherry Cask.. I have an unopened bottle of Kilchoman Sanaig. I'm also a fan of Oban Little Bay.
Missed this a year ago but this is a gem of an SLB video! The wifely quips and excitement of Kurt enjoying things Trenton doesn’t really amps up the entertainment.
Awesome video! Ardbeg Uigedail is one of my favorite whiskies of all time and I’m primarily a bourbon drinker. So much complexity underneath a punch in the face of beautiful peat smoke. I would recommend Benriach smoky 12. Lighter on the peat but aged in bourbon, sherry as well as Marsala wine casks. It’s a peated speyside whisky that has so much to unpack
Very nice list.. My favorite peated whisky has been a Lagavulin Distillers Edition ...I have Talisker D.E. too ...their 10 year finished with sherry. All great choices .
For all the reading about scotch that I’ve done thus far, your brief explanation of PPM was huge to me. I had no idea. That’s a very important statistical figure that doesn’t get included in reviews very often. To a definite scotch rookie like myself, though, this means everything. Now, I can properly navigate my way through the Islays and even the Highland selections in a more informed way. Man, I can’t thank you enough for that. You saved me at least a couple of mistakes.
Great line up! You have three of favorite Scotchs, Ardbeg Uigeadail, Lagavulin 16, and Talisker 10. Talisker 10 is my favorite because it tastes what I imagine an Irish single pot still whiskey would taste if it were peated. At first I wasn't a fan of peated whiskeys, but after I revisited a year or so into my rabbit hole tumble into Irish whiskeys I came to love them. It brings a different character to the whiskey that's delicious. It's hard for me to overpay for bourbon when there are great single pot still Irish whiskeys and peated Scotchs available for MSRP.
Thank you for this video. I've been a bourbon fan for a few years but I am ridiculously new to peated Scotch. My nephew gave me a peated single malt from Oregon for Christmas and I just fell in love with the "campfire and band-aide" aroma. Since then I've picked up a Laphroaig Select that I also really dig. I'm gonna have to try some of those great sounding single malts on your list.
Hey bro , it's A bit pricey these days but pirt Charlotte 10 is an amazing malt !!! Keeps the great malt flavor you get in unpeated bruchladich, with A punch of peat. Great balanced stuff !
I love your enthusiasm! And they're all yours to enjoy!😂 I've got to try the Talisker, but I'm fortunate to have the others on your great list. Funny story: I asked my 32 year-old son (who lives about 2,000 miles away) what he's drinking these days. "Laphroaig," he replied. That's a really big change from the Buffalo Trace he enjoyed in college. I thought I was going to introduce him to Scotch; but it looks like I missed that boat.😄 Cheers, Kurt!
a solid list. The Laphroiag gives me a specially nice feeling that hits me perfectly. I will make the 2 hour drive down to Valpraiso to join you if you ever need company. I would add the Caol Ila 12 as being preferred to the Lag 16. At 16 years it starts to loose that Peat that I love. This grouping is my favorite whisky range. smoke and peat make me happy. But, like you, none of my friends care to join in!
Kurt love your choices. The Laphroaig of choice for me is the Triple Wood (though I love all of them). My current favorite is the Port Charlotte OLC: 01. Super viscous and the flavors are more intense than regular PC (though I love that too).
Great list Kurt!!! My favorite peated scotch is Port Charlotte 10. Absolutely love it. You had me at glazed meat 🍖😂😂 if you have any other suggestions of peated scotch with the glazed meat note please share😂😂😂😂 As always love the content! Cheers Kurt!!!
Thanks for the video just ordered some of the ardbeg on line can't wait to try it out really liked the lagavulin 16. Glad you are doing the scotch videos.
Thanks Kurt I love that you did the peated scotches. All good choices and I do love me some Ardbeg and Port Charlotte but my all time favorite will always be Highland Park.
I like what you said about others not liking it so it’s all yours. I have the same benefit as I love peated whisky. Not many do. I love Laphroiag, and Ardbeg too. Lagavulan comes third. Love the Talisker too. I really enjoy your videos. Keep at it. So informative
Great list, Kurt! It's me birthday, tomorrow...I've already picked up an Old Elk finished in Armagnac, but I may have to pickup up the Port Charlotte, Talisker or Lagavulin offering (already have the Uigeadail, and it's delicious)
Took me one drink of Ugedail to fall in love. I mean it's no Aberlour Abunadh or Glengoyne Cask strength but it's still fantastic. Kilchoman Sanaig a good alternative to the Ugeeee. Will have to give that Laphroig Lore a go after sewing it here
Very nice selection, Port Charlotte had me mesmerised for a while but sipping Ardbeg 10 while watching this list its just peat done right, although Lagavulin 16 still favourite
I'm just getting into peated Scotch. Compass Box The Peat Monster was my real introduction and much to my shock and horror, I loved it. I actually bought a Talisker 10 just today, and also have Laphroaig 10 and Ardbeg 10 waiting for me. If I love them just as much, then I go hunting for Lagavulin 16, which is scarce here in NC right now.
I know I'm a little late to this one, but my favorite peater is the Laphroaig 10 Year Cask Strength. As someone who is really just starting to explore scotch, I asked for a bottle that will challenge me. Damned if I didn't love it the first pour.
Another solid list...I have them all. I prefer the Corryvrekin. I also really enjoy the peat in Highland Park 15, Benriach Smokey 10, Coal Ila 12. and Bowmore 15.
Hi SBL. I’m from Scotland and I’m spoiled over here with all kinds of special whisky and distilleries on my doorstep. But there’s one I hope and pray you can get access to. It’s from the Annandale distillery, and it’s called “ the man of swords”, the founders range. It’s not overwhelming with peat, but it’s beautifully balanced . A stunning lightly peated whisky. I honestly think you will not be disappointed. Price maybe reasonably high, but its beautiful. Look out for it. I really recommend it. Wish you good health. Slainte mhath 👍🥃
Lagavulin 16 was my gateway to Islay Whisky, but my ranking is 1) Lagavulin 8, 2) Ardbeg 10, 3) Lagavulin 16. Port Charlotte was a bit of a disappointment neat, but opened up a bit with water.
Great selection of some of the very best peated whisky. If you want to save a little money & have something equal (or even better...) I'd try Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength. Stands toe to toe with Lore & costs about $30 less. Another recommendation (if you can find it) is Longrow Peated. It has a white label with rose gold lettering. That one is more refined than just about any peated whisky I've ever tried. Exceptional & costs about $70.
I agree my best bottle is Uig…my wife loves lag16, but cannot afford $140+…my new fav….Ledaig10, try to do a blind testing, ledaig10, lag16, and others….you will be surprised
I think Talisker 10 is the most accessible Scotch here(or anywhere?). It's got the all the Islay Scotch maritime spirit, complexity and long finish, but keeps the possibly offensive notes in the background. Ardbeg is certainly interesting, but I get tennis-balls tinge in there that spoils the fun and thats kinda how it goes for me with others except Talisker - it's great...except some medicinal or industrial note. Sidenote - 1.5oz Schivas12 + 0.5oz Talisker10 makes for a hell of an Old Fashioned.
just stumbled upon your video and really enjoyed it, the Uigeadail is also at the top of my list, right under my all time favorite Caol Ila 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky,
Good video, thanks for posting it. I love the Ardbegs (all of them). I would like to recommend that people try the Kilchoman offerings: Sanaig, Machir Bay, Loch Gorm. They are IMHO the best example of the peat and other flavors working well together.
Great choices. I agree with Lagavulin 16, Ardbeg Uigeadail, and Port Charlotte 10. I would round out my top five with Laphroaig Quarter Cask, and Ardbeg Corryvreckan. Talisker 10 is good but it’s $83 here (not worth it). Islay scotch is my favorite. I love the peat! Ardbeg is my favorite distillery. You can’t go wrong with Ardbeg. Even the Wee Beasty is tasty (and only $50 here).
Lagavulin is expense near you. Goes for about $80 in my area. I love all the bottles you showed but I would swap out the Lore for Wee Beastie since it is quite a bit cheaper. My favorite is octomore and supernova. I just picked up an Ardbeg Hypernova and I plan to crack it open soon.
I'll never be able to get another, but the original Ardbeg Supernova was by far the finest Peat Monster ever. Best description is to imagine the ultimate beach campfire and put the entire experience into a bottle.
Great just picked up a bottle of Ardbeg 10 and now I might have to get 4 more bottles. We don't have the Lore around here but we have the other 4. I might open the Arbeg 10 this weekend and see what I think of that before I go getting any more peated scotches.
Interesting!!! Im not into scotch but like learning about them. Really the only scotch I’m familiar with is Balvenie 21 year and it was really good over a single cube. Thanks again!! Great information 👍🏼
I would also suggest Caol Ila. It's a bit lighter than Ardbeg or Bowmore with a touch of sweetness. If you ever see a single cask bottling grab it, every one I've had has been delicious. Honorable mention goes to Compass Box with their Glasgow blend. Try using it in a Rusty Nail for a change of pace.
Locking forward to try the Uigeadail. My first meeting with peated whisky was the Talisker 10. Took me about 3 sips to fell in love with the peat. If you haven’t tried the Caol Ila 12, you should. To me it´s almost as good as Lagavulin 16 for a much better price. At least where I live.
Bottle 1. Yep.. Fav tied with Bottle 4. Bottle 2. Yep Bottle 3. Have not had it yet, would put the 10 Cask Strength - just found this!!! Bottle 4. Yep.. Fav tied with Bottle 1. Bottle 5.... this is where we differ.... Understand why you didn't put in Corryvreckan.. but even An Oa is better than this bottle.... I'm with you on the smokies.... love them, but can only have one a night, and at the end of the whiskey tour if I'm having more than say 3. Great List.
Absolutely gorgeous picks - the Uigeadail is my fave as well :) The Lore is the only one I have not had. I would also rec the Caol Ila 12yo, and some from Kilchoman - the Loch Gorm for a more traditional peated offering, or the Sanaig for a touch of sherry 👍🏻
Just had the Octomore 13.1 for first time last night. WOW just fantastic and now in my top 5 peated scotches. Glad the Port Charlotte is easy to get. Love your picks. Have all but the Lore.
Talisker 10 was my first whisky love, and will also be in my collection. It is so lovely and so affordable. But current favorites are: 1. Ardbeg Ten 2. Springbank 10 3. Kilkerran 12 4. Ardbeg Uigeadail (a bit strong for me, but with water it is just fantastic) 5. Talisker 10 (maybe it should be Lagavulin 16, but can't leave Talisker out)
Great list of pleated scotches. My son enjoys Lagavulin 16. It isn't my favorite. It turned me off to pleated whiskey for a while. Once I discovered Ardbeg and Port Charlotte, I was hooked on peat.
Love the Uigeadail. Don't forget the Ardbeg 10. If you want complex, get the Laphroaig Cairdeas release that comes out every year. It is always at cask strength.
Caideas PX and Lagavulin Offerman are ridiculously good too! I would have also added Johnnie Double Black too but seems like this show was only for peated single malts…
Great list of amazing whiskey!! I have been drinking scotch my whole life and my current favorite is Laphroaig Càirdeas - which I’m sure you’d love, given your faves here.
Love PEAT! My wife says if it does not smell like a Sharpie marker, I don’t want to drink it. (But I drink lots of other Scotch, Irish, Rye, and Bourbon.) Another one I like and would add is Laphroaig Càirdeas (pronounced Car Chuss) aged in Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks. The only one of yours that I have not tasted is the Laphroaig Lore.
Of the ones I've tried, Lagavulin 16 is so far my favorite. I liked the Uigadial too - it's an experience, but it's so intense that it's not really something I can relax with. I'm currently on the Port Charlotte and I like that very much, too. I'd probably put it second after the Lag16, with the Oogie third.
Peat whisky is so good personally I've only had three islay scotches and still got em they're all good tho Arbeg 10 'the ultimate' Laphroaig 10 Port Charlotte 10 heavy peat
I much prefer Laphroaig Quarter cask to 10, but the recent price increase make me choose others. I wish 10 came at 46% instead of 43. would be of benefit
The first one I ever tried was Lagavulin 16 and I loved it. I have tried some Ardbeg and Laphroaig were a little over the top for me. Definitely takes some getting used to. Try the Lagavulin 11, it is also pretty tasty !! I visited the distillery on 2013 and if you ever get the chance it is worth the trip !!
Ardbeg 10 is my favorite. Laphroig cask was a bit disappointing...short finish. Port Charlotte was sweet, with a gret long burn finish. lagavulin 16 is a solid, smooth choice.
I love strong peat and smoke flavour, but find the strong iodine/medicinal flavours of Ardbeg and Laphroaig offputting. My favourites are: Bruichladdich Octomore, Lagavulin 16, Caol'Ila 12, Talisker 10 y.o., and Jura 10 y.o. or 12 y.o.. In my area Jura is significantly less expensive than Talisker, making it the value leader.
Nice choices, I'm fond of the Islay single malts myself. I've Laphroaig 10, Quarter-Cask, Cask Strength, 15 yr and an 18 yr (New Hampshire State ABC Stores are the bomb...I picked up the 18 yr there for $57 ! I've also several Bruichladdich's, Rocks, a Torrey Pines Links edition, Port Charlotte, and Classic Laddie.
Bacon... DID I HEAR BACON!?!? that's a first one I've ever heard described with notes of bacon... I'm sold. I've got the lagavulin 16 and I like that the peat flavors are seated down into the other flavors going on. It doesn't taste like someone put their cigar out in my glass.
I'm surprised Ardbeg 10 yr wasn't on your list. At $55 it's steal! Also I recently picked up a bottle of Port Askaig 8 yr. It's a blend but it is a wonderful pour.
Hey, I’m a Islay peat head, you need to stock Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength and Ardbeg Corryvreckan in your home bar, you can still get Laphroaig batch 012 on the internet for only $15 over retail and it’s a masterpiece, it’s stunning 👍
Arbeg AN OA and 10 year. Also like Highland Park 12. Would like to try the 18 year. Interesting that you just posted this, I just actually tasted the ones I mentioned for the first time yesterday. I wanted to see what the peated scotch tasted like. I actually like it . The Arbeg Wee Beastie is darn rich and smoky. One dram of that is enough for me. OUTSTANDING VIDEO!! 🙏!!!!! I do try to stay away from and whiskey distilleries who add coloring to their offerings, just my preference.
@@slbdrinks I actually like the Smokey Peat taste. Guess it reminds me of being a paramedic firefighter for 30 years. I feel it adds a complexity to your dram that bourbons don’t . I also enjoy the historic aspect of scotch and Scotland. Sipping makes me feel closer to being actually there.
I love your selections Kurt, Ardbeg and Port Charlotte are among my all time favorites, I think if life on planet earth was about to be ended a giant meteor I would be hanging out on my back deck with a big cigar and my bottle of Ugeadial. Trenton you really need to get up to speed on this stuff.. bourbon and Rye whiskeys are great but these peated scotch's are a whole other level!
I don’t know much about scotch. I would like to see some sort of comparison between scotch and bourbon. …and some help with some choosing some good scotch to try to start.
Kurt, we share a similar love of Islay and Wild Turkey. My only dissent would be the Laphroaig Lore (10 is better IMHO). I would pick up a bottle of Corryvrecken before the Lore for a similar price. That said...the Uigy is my absolute favorite whisky. Love the channel!
I love your videos and appreciate the effort you put in to each episode. I would really like a video on the best neat whiskey or bourbons that make fantastic mixers.
Hey all! Want to correct a mistake I said in the video. The Laphroaig Lore actually comes in a 45 PPM instead of 86 PPM like I stated in the video. Even Bulls make mistakes 😂
Great list of peated Scotch Whisky. My favs in order are:
1. Lagavulin 16. Complex and beautiful.

4. Port Charlotte 12
5. Bowmore 12
My wife made the most incredible statement after observing the amount of bottles in your bar... she said "The more you have, the longer they last". Time to go shopping!
Hey glad it worked in your favor lol!
She's not wrong
just did 5 accessible Islays (peated) blind w 4 of us (one bro from Scotland) and here was my lineup
5 Bowmore 12 (felt like Lagavulin w flavor-sliders dropped down)
4 Port Charlotte 10 - ok, just a level above in flavor from the BM 12
3 Ardbeg 10. Thought it would be top 2 and surprised it was less smokey and more peaty than it was. Really liked it but not as much as would have thought. VERY light in color.

Great video, I discovered peated malts 25 years ago and loved them from the start. Laphroaig probably my favourite, for the price.
Thanks.
I completely agree with you on 3 of the 5 (Ardbeg, Lagavulin, and Port Charlotte). Haven't ever tried the other 2, but I just put them on my shopping list. Thanks!!

I’m binging on all your videos. When I came across this one it made me HAPPY!
I LOVE scotch and anything smoky. BBQ and whiskey. So yum always.
Without getting into special releases. A+ list!
Thank you!
Oh man o' man. I'm salivating a little bit and I've got every bottle but the Lore.
Love some peated scotch!
This channel covers it all!
I love the passion behind your descriptions...I actually have the Lagavulin that I've never opened.
You will enjoy that one!
That’s a great one as well!
If you can, search out Kilchoman. It's one of the newer Islay distilleries but they are doing some amazing things. Cheers!
That’s one I don’t have any of. I need to check into those.
Great list. All are excellent.
Great vid! I have 4 of those currently. Only missing Talisker due a bottle kill about 3 weeks ago. 😢
Very nice list..
My favorite peated whisky has been a Lagavulin Distillers Edition ...I have Talisker D.E. too ...their 10 year finished with sherry.
All great choices .
Those finishes sound lovely!

Your welcome! It’s all been a learning process for me as well especially with scotch. Enjoy the journey my friend!
Thanks for introducing your side of the peated scotch whiskey. The rich smell aroma of a cheap band-aid is usually what I get when I try them.
I can’t say I have ever picked that up but now I have to try!
I was shocked as to how much I liked peated Scotch. I only have tried Artbeg 10. Looking forward to trying more. Cheers
Great line up! You have three of favorite Scotchs, Ardbeg Uigeadail, Lagavulin 16, and Talisker 10. Talisker 10 is my favorite because it tastes what I imagine an Irish single pot still whiskey would taste if it were peated. It brings a different character to the whiskey that's delicious. It's hard for me to overpay for bourbon when there are great single pot still Irish whiskeys and peated Scotchs available for MSRP.
No doubt about that! My peated journey was similar to yours. First taste was 🤢 but in time was 😍
Funny you say that, although I don't consider them similar but Redbreast (Irish single pot still) and Talisker 10 are my favs.
Thank you for this video. I've been a bourbon fan for a few years but I am ridiculously new to peated Scotch. Talisker is a great place to start! Peat is a bit more subdued and gentle in that bottle. Great story as well!
a solid list. The Laphroiag gives me a specially nice feeling that hits me perfectly. I will make the 2 hour drive down to Valpraiso to join you if you ever need company. Unfortunately I never see the scotch special releases here. Would love to try the PC!
My favorite segment of whisky. I found Lagavulin 16 on sale for $73 so I bought 4 bottles. I haven't had the Port Charlote yet but I will try it.
Great buy on the Lagavulin!
Great list Kurt!!!
My favorite peated scotch is Port Charlotte 10. Absolutely love it. You had me at glazed meat 🍖😂😂 if you have any other suggestions of peated scotch with the glazed meat note please share😂😂😂😂
As always love the content!
Cheers Kurt!!!
Got to have some glazed meats lol!
Thanks for the video just ordered some of the ardbeg on line can't wait to try it out really liked the lagavulin 16. Glad you are doing the scotch videos.

I agree - Lagavulin 16 is as good as it gets. Hands down the best.
Took me one drink of Ugedail to fall in love. I mean it's no Aberlour Abunadh or Glengoyne Cask strength but it's still fantastic. Kilchoman Sanaig a good alternative to the Ugeeee. Will have to give that Laphroig Lore a go after sewing it here
I love peated whisky, laphroaig is what I'm drinking at the moment but I have tried many.
Laphroig is so darn good!
If I love them just as much, then I go hunting for Lagavulin 16, which is scarce here in NC right now.
Lol! I need to try the CB peat monster.
I love Cragganmore 12 year. It’s lightly peated and has great citrus notes. Goes down easy, one Trenton and your wife might like.
I would love to see if they liked it!
I know I'm a little late to this one, but my favorite peater is the Laphroaig 10 Year Cask Strength. As someone who is really just starting to explore scotch, I asked for a bottle that will challenge me. Damned if I didn't love it the first pour.

I have never had either so I appreciate your recommendations!
I agree my best bottle is Uig…my wife loves lag16, but cannot afford $140+…my new fav….Ledaig10, try to do a blind testing, ledaig10, lag16, and others….you will be surprised
I've enjoyed this very much, high time I tried a wee bit of some peaty fire water
That combination sounds great!
just stumbled upon your video and really enjoyed it, the Uigeadail is also at the top of my list, right under my all time favorite Caol Ila 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky,
I love!
Ardberg Corryvrecan
Port charlotte 10
Lagavulin 16
Kilchoman sanaig
Greetings!
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Ahhh yes! Thank you!
Good video, thanks for posting it. I love the Ardbegs (all of them). I would like to recommend that people try the Kilchoman offerings: Sanaig, Machir Bay, Loch Gorm. They are IMHO the best example of the peat and other flavors working well together.
I do not have one at this point but need to change that!
macnair lum reek has a lot of peat I loved it. Can’t find it anymore now they have the 12 yr
Islay peateds are just fantastic!
I’m putting the Talisker 10 on my list to try. I usually bounce between Laphroaig 10 and Ardbeg 10.
Hope you like it! A bit more subdued on the peat but a very nice pour indeed!
Lagavulin 16 is one of my all time favorite whiskeys! I miss the days you could get it for $65 - $70. I never see it anymore for less than $100.
Neither do I 😟
$75 at Costco!
It was good at $60 but at $90 there are better options.
Wow, that one is delicious!
Great video. Would love to see your recommendations for Japanese whisky’s.
Need to do that one day.
Great suggestions! I need to add a Caol Ila, do not have a peated compass box.
Caol Ila is vastly under-rated.
Talisker 10 is around $75 around N Dallas.
Crazy how pricing varies so much!
Bottle 2. Yep
Bottle 3.
Great List.
I love the Corryvreckan as well! Not so much on the OA. Agree with you on one and done. It’s like a nice rich dessert lol
Appreciate your recommendations!
Ardbeg BizarreBBQ is my favorite. I also really like Octomore 13.3. For non/less smokey scotch I like Highland Park Dark Origins and GlenDronach 15.
But current favorites are:
1. Ardbeg Ten
2. Springbank 10
3. Kilkerran 12
4. Ardbeg Uigeadail (a bit strong for me, but with water it is just fantastic)
5. Talisker 10 (maybe it should be Lagavulin 16, but can't leave Talisker out)
Great list! Absolutely love Springbank 10!
Still looking for the Kilkerran 12. Heard it’s fantastic!
@@slbdrinks It really is.
I know you guys sometimes have a hard time getting some of the scotchs, like we in Europe lack the full range of bourbons.
Great list of pleated scotches. My son enjoys Lagavulin 16. It isn't my favorite. It turned me off to pleated whiskey for a while. Once I discovered Ardbeg and Port Charlotte, I was hooked on peat.
Thank you!
thanks
Port Charlotte 10 is fantastic, like a smoked sugary biscuit. One other I'd recommend is The Peat Monster blended Scotch.
Others have recommended that as well. Must be good!
Lagavulin 16 is top!
Great list of amazing whiskey!! I have been drinking scotch my whole life and my current favorite is Laphroaig Càirdeas - which I’m sure you’d love, given your faves here.
I have the Cairdeas finished in port and wine casks and it’s delicious!
That is my current favorite as well!
I absolutely love the Cairdeas! Great choice!
I love the Ardbeg also. Best after dinner drink to replace desert.
That’s exactly what I say to!! We must be brothers 😂
Lagavulin 16 is unparalleled!!
Soooo good!
Peat whisky is so good personally I've only had three islay scotches and still got em they're all good tho
Arbeg 10 'the ultimate'
Laphroaig 10
Port Charlotte 10 heavy peat
I much prefer Laphroaig Quarter cask to 10, but the recent price increase make me choose others. I wish 10 came at 46% instead of 43. would be of benefit
Great trio!
Caol Ila 12 is absolutely fabulous. Love sipping it while grilling a nice thick steak with mesquite charcoal... smoke meets smoke ;)
Oh wow that sounds delightful!!
Lol very true on the Lagavulin! My wife laughed at me after that video for my bacon and glazed smoked meat descriptions 😂
@@slbdrinks hey man, it won me over. All I could think after was that I wanted more Easter honey ham...
Great selection, I have them all and they all are yummy. Have you tried the Octomore?
I have! For me, it’s a heavy hitter! I do like it but have to add some water to tame the beast!
My store was out of Ardbeg so I got a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black instead. I just can't wait until more Ardbeg comes in!
Ardbeg is so good!
We love Caol Ila.
I'm surprised Ardbeg 10 yr wasn't on your list. At $55 it's steal! Also I recently picked up a bottle of Port Askaig 8 yr. It's a blend but it is a wonderful pour.
To many great ones to include everything lol! Need to try your other recommendation!
Good lineup for sure! I’m also a huge fan of Ardbeg Uggy! Such deep, complex flavors!
Ohhhhhhh no doubt!
Thanks for the heads up! I do have the Corryvreckan, phenomenal, but need to add the Laphroig 10 cs.
@@slbdrinks Any time, I just found your channel recently, I’m a big fan, keep up the great work!
bowmore 12 yr $55
the best peat. nothing better. wow. oh my! yum. not for the faint
Great price!
Not a bad practice! One pour the s enough for me to. I refer to it as a rich dessert. One is enough.
Two places I want to visit before I pass on; Scotland and Ireland!
If i ever get shipwrecked on an island I hope it's Islay!😂
I love your selections Kurt, Ardbeg and Port Charlotte are among my all time favorites, I think if life on planet earth was about to be ended a giant meteor I would be hanging out on my back deck with a big cigar and my bottle of Ugeadial. Trenton you really need to get up to speed on this stuff.. bourbon and Rye whiskeys are great but these peated scotch's are a whole other level!
absolutely ♥️Laphoaig TFS this....will try the others
Awesome!
I don’t know much about scotch. I would like to see some sort of comparison between scotch and bourbon. …and some help with some choosing some good scotch to try to start.
Good idea!
First one for me was Laphroaig 10 and it was love at first sip😉
There you go!
@@slbdrinks sipping on Laphroaig lore for the first time, my new favorite, thank you
Peat Monster by Compass box is very good. right in the mix of Laphroiag and Caol Il
Have never tried that CB!
I love your videos and appreciate the effort you put in to each episode. I would really like a video on the best neat whiskey or bourbons that make fantastic mixers.
Thank you for your recommendations!
Try the Talisker Port Ruighe
