Every American should be familiar with the works of the Bible, Plato, Aristotle, Dante, and Shakespeare. That's one way of making America great again.

It's nice to see an event like this with no one screaming insults or protesters throwing a hissy fit.

It's a good thing too, because he tends to lapse into a near whisper

I came to compatible views without the trouble of researching. All with sensible eyes can see.

Now in 2020, the title of his book needs to be changed to past tense.

For the speaker at the 51:00 mark, the answer is that the plural of anecdote is not data. Also, that the "social capital" flowing from the state and public sector indicates the failure of the communities in question to provide for themselves. And while the public sector can be a partner with the individuals in those communities, it's not effective in the long term nor is it sustainable for the public sector to provide the services which communities could and should be performing for themselves.

I’m intrigued by your answer, what would you say to programs such as the Canada Child Benefit or the European Union’s directives, namely Directive 2019/1158 which guarantees paid parental leave (versus FMLA)?

If a 20 year old college student cannot and listen to this man talk fore 30 or 40 minutes in the name of learning --- THIS NATION IS IN DEEP TROUBLE.

There are two cultures, government employees living large and the working taxpayers that support their lifestyles.

@@xy-fj2wk The sad thing is.... I don't think any of the audience or even the host takes to heart what Murray is saying. Fast forward 10-20 years later ; and nothings changed, in fact everything he describes here has only gotten worse and worse. The cognitive elite haven't the first fucking clue about how their policies might negatively impact the lower working classes ; because the negatives don't impact them due to their vast wealth, status and success(highly skilled un-autible job, high IQ, high income, etc.). Whereas the lower working classes don't have that luxury ; so their on the lower receiving end(job automation, IQ stratification, stagnant wages, unemployment, dead end service sector jobs, fatherless homes, etc.). I think it's abundantly clear at this point that the cognitive elite don't give single rats ass about the struggles of everyday Americans. One of the biggest problems I see in America today ; is a complete and utter lack of even the most basic empathy when talking about socioeconomic class structure and stratification. The contempt that the cognitive elite has towards the lower working classes is truly astonishing.
