Saw that movie in summer 84 as a 16 year old kid and boy I loved it. It just belonged to that time. The entire music of the movie is top class till today.
Jack Atkinson That’s because the movie had the fortune of featuring something that was relatively new to a lot of people at the time and the filmmakers wisely didn’t do much to complicate things and keep it entertaining at the same time.
wow just wow...... most of us who were lucky enuff to see this on may 4th 1984 when it came out. have sufferd great loss up to this day in 2022 mom gone dad gone gandma gone best friends gone from back in 84. ahhh well .... what can ya really do. im 54 today !!! i was 16 when i first saw this movie. an now with a family of my own an doin fine. you still cant help yourself..... every once in awhile , just to stop by an take a look just to remember when life was good and mom was still here. if i could go back i would.
🤠 oh my goodness I do so remember this movie and the second one as well. Both movies and soundtracks for excellent. I haven't seen this movie since I was a young kid back in the '80s. Hopefully, I can buy both movies on dvd. I wish they still made movies like this today
I hope Hollywood doesn't dare reboot Breakin'. I mean, they already ruined Dirty Dancing, Footloose and Fame. BTW at least we can relive these. I do agree tho.
I just saw this post and I went to look for his name. I watched this movie many times when I was like 13 years old. I did not know the main character's name was Shabba Doo. RIP. We all died eventually.
That is so sad. I missed hearing this. This movie and time literally captured me. I remember seeing it three times the first week it came out. RIP to one of the street dancing icons.
This was the 80s!! Kids where break dancing on the street, so the executives hurried up and threw a movie out there that had absolutely no plot, only that people in it where dancing...
It was composed for the trailer. The montage in the trailer was actually recycled in the actual movie to pad out the running time at the end because they ran out of money to shoot scenes.
Wow.. we were so brainwashed back in the day. I didn't see this movie in the movies, but at my elementary school. They also showed "beat street", and crush groove when they came out on either beta max or vhs. Why were they showing these movies in elementary schools?
add the token white chick to make white america feel comfortable to watch the movie...jus sayin ..lol...dont shoot the messenger ..i know y`al thinkin it...been doin that in urban movies throughout time...... anyway great flick ... Ice-T had bars ...lmao
It technically isn’t anything special plot-wise and the quality of the acting and narrative is barely there, but breakdancing was still very novel and new to a lot of people at the time and the filmmakers had the good sense to not complicate things and keep the entertainment value consistent.
@@RocStarr913 The title of the movie maybe called Breakdance "Breakin", but the art is called Bboying. People still get it twisted & even call it Breakdancing today which is a complete insult.
Man, this takes me right back in time to the 80's! We had it great in the 80's as far as movies, and WE ABSOLUTELY had the best music!
'70s and '90s too, dude.

A reminder of why Ice-T is awesome.

Everything "Save The Last Dance" and "You Got Served" could never be.

Stop dissing both films. I like both of them as well as Breakin', jabroni.
Thanks, dude.
I grew up on this. I watched the vhs tape a hundred times.

I hope they don't, I'm tired of the reboots.
@@shawneldridge4465 Same. Remakes were good back then but now they have run their course.
I have the original movies, Breakin 1 and Breakin Boogaloo 2. My favorite movies.
R.I.P. to Ozone and Pop n Taco 🙏. They're together again pop-lockin with the angels!
The dance battles at the Radiotron was the biggest highlight of the film too.
Rest In Peace Shabba Doo🕊️🙏

Coming to Blu-ray in April 2015!!!
Loved this film 🎥
R.I.P. Ozone. As if this year could get any worse! 😓

The music from the trailer alone is fucking epic. And I am a metal guy XD
ikr lol. I'm a No-Wave/Post-Punk/Geniale-Dilletanten/live-'80s-Neubauten fan, and I love this trailer song
Ice-T Did A Good Job As The Rappin' Announcer For That Trailer.
Lol!
0:14- Must everyone make a scene when they go outside in Alphabet City (1984)?
0:25- Just like the punk rock opus Suburbia (1984).
This was the 80s!! Kids where break dancing on the street, so the executives hurried up and threw a movie out there that had absolutely no plot, only that people in it where dancing...
But there's a plot
Cheesy to the max. But, I think this is a fun 80s throwback; I don’t hate it at all!
It took me so long to find this movie. I watched this in 5th grade. Lol.
Happy Anniversary !!!!!

Still breaking in 2020, Ice T d Don
This movie taught me how to dance.
I'm tall and can do the windmill did when I weighed 21 stones
I'm 50 and saw this classic in 1984 at age 14
So much better than the sequel
They should have not have pressed their luck filming a sequel back to back with this.
Loved this movie wen i was little:)
No one does it better!!!
Only Sir Roger Moore
Greatest film ever, i'm still pissed how the Oscar's, Bafta's and Golden Globe's snubbed this cinematic masterpiece.
Beat Street beat Breakin’ badly at awards season😜
Rip shabbat doo
I came here after watching RayGun’s olympic performance. Min 0:35 says what I think about her
Hood Certified Classic.
Ironically, it was produced by Israeli Jews.
I want to see this movie
❤️
The video tape I had had a shorter version with a different rap on it. Ended with 'this stories true so wait till part 2' any links to that one?
🇧🇷🔊🔥
What's the name of this trailer song? Is it an actual song or was it composed solely for the trailer?
It was composed for the trailer. The montage in the trailer was actually recycled in the actual movie to pad out the running time at the end because they ran out of money to shoot scenes.
John C Van Damm was in it
How did I get here🤣
can someone please send me the link or something where i can watch the movie? i’m craving this
It's on here just look up breakin the movie

I don't remember ever seeing the trailer for this, I think it caters to epileptic people.
More like short attention span people.
the most 80's thing i ever saw
Where is Vin Diesel
So it's 80s Step Up. Got it.
Damn, I'm too square!
Then it got torn down a later in 1985. I think it should have been left alone. So what if there were code violations.
Sad of the fact I wasn’t born yet
No tattoos. No politics. No woke-ness. No gangsta rap.
Miss the 80’s.
Well, this was produced by Israeli Jews. It helped they didn’t know that much about hip-hop street culture.

There are way more white people than there are black people, then and now. Movies, even a low budget one like this, cost money to make and release.
Don't remake Breakin', Hollywood. Thanks.
That will likely never happen. The rights to the movie are probably not easily attainable.
@@RocStarr913 Yep but I'm just saying.
Thanks Chappelle.
