i found Failure (hahah) yesterday. been through as many circles as i could get through, and nothing has resonated with me as wholly as this music. absolutely understanding that feeling you had.
Yup.. quick story about 'finding' an artist. 2007, I'm in Japan and go to Tower Records to shop and I'd decided I needed to get into Springsteen and grab his new record "Magic" I pop it on at a listening booth and am quite fairly uninspired by it. Just below that album in the booth the cover of Joe Henry's "Civilians" catches my eye.. I pop it on, and am instantly hooked.. He's been one of my favourites ever since. watch?v=pYvdTdhW2hg
@@Sasquatch10 Same! I'd heard them YEARS ago, but never realized just how much I'd love them until I recently did a deep dive. They were the soundtrack of my WHOLE summer 2021. Haha.
I had the same experience in 2013. I learned about Failure from Dave Navarro, he talked about Fantastic Planet being the best album ever, but I didn't really connect to it at first, because I only listened to it (in MP3) through my external computer speakers while doing other things at the computer. I finally listened to it more carefully in 2013 on Spotify (I don't use Spotify anymore), and I it was brilliant! Enough said, I bought Heart Is A Monster on CD, and then I switched to vinyl, I've bought everything they released in vinyl since 2014. I really like the band, my top 5, with ever changing top spot.
Failure is one of the very few bands that showed me what music can become. They are not just another band. I am really grateful and lucky to have found this band.
It looks like you guys are going to address the "drug situation" that broke up the band the first time, and let me just say I appreciate that honesty, openness, and sharing. The world missed you guys when you were broken up and we are all happy that you are back together and living well.
I’m pleasantly surprised to see Hayley Williams here! Paramore was the reason I discovered Failure in my pre-teens, their cover of Stuck On You had me wanting so much more of that SOUND!!! I’ve been in love ever since. I bought tickets for Failure’s 2022 tour today and this documentary has me even more stoked
I was 15 in 1994, saw Failure along with the Flaming Lips open up for TOOL at the Riviera in Chicago, still to this day the best show I ever saw, I immediately fell in love with Failure and still to this day love them more than any band from that era, hands down they are my favorite band of all time! I will be taking my 15 year old son to see them in Chicago this summer which will be his first concert ever as it was mine when I was his age! Going to be a great bonding moment in our lives!
I confess that i didn't know about the band... A friend show me this trailer because i'm a fan of music documentaries... And i was curious about the songs in this video. I listened to Fantastic Planet and it was mind blowing... A new fan of Failure has born. Can't wait to see this documentary.
If "supremely deserved" was a trailer, that would be it. Finally Failure, a band that has meant so much for so many of us, is getting the attention and the recognition they deserves. A wonderful day for great rock music.
Someone recommended me to listen to "Heliotropic" and I instantly fell in love with the song, then the album, and then the whole discography. Failure is one of the best band ever to me, I keep going back to it. Such an underrated band. I really hope I can see you live at some point. Thank you for creating such an amazing music
i found your album Magnified in a $5 specials bin when i was 16 here in New Zealand and got it because of the frog on the front...i could not believe how good it was and it quickly became a soundtrack to my life as has alot of the other albums...thank you thank you thank you
Can't really explain why these guys never got the recognition they deserved. Their music was brilliant, which explains why so many musicians were influenced by them. Looking forward to the documentary!! Keep making music guys, please!
Bad timing. Came out a bit too late. Grunge was dead, and hip hop was booming. New metal was on the verge as well. Still one of he greatest of the 90's!
This band was so ahead of their time. Fantastic Planet could've been released in 2022 and it would've been very fitting. What a huge influence for me musically and I'm glad they decided to come back out for their encore.
The band got to do their own thing on fantastic planet and made one of the most important albums in rock history . Pretty nuts how that worked out.. and how many bands wish or can say they did that?
I was actually in treatment and there was one other guy in the group that was my age. He's wearing a Tool t-shirt and the weekend prior I had gone to A Perfect Circle concert in my city. I asked him was he at the APC concert and he said no he wasn't but was going was going to one in about a month. He said, "hey, have you ever heard of a band called Failure?" .... That was probably the best suggestion I've ever been given. That was exactly 20 yrs ago and I've been a rabid fan ever since.
Failure just have this "aura" on their songs. So... weird... but delightful and beautiful. Kinda like a dream or a parallel universe where nothing is what it seems, a crook and quirk or the mind both in space and time. Kinda like drifting out in space were nothing matters, nothing makes sense but nothing needs sense either. Then there's that other "something else" I just can't explain. Found Failure a little over a decade ago though Paramore and nothing has changed. I like to call it "Space Grunge". Thank You Failure for been there even in the most crazy situations for me.
Just wanna thank you guys for being what was the soundtrack of my teenage years. Thank you Thank you Thank you. Can't wait to see you guys on stage here in TX. Will be bringing my 16 year old son with me to show to give him a chance to experience.
It is so cool to see all these other people who are also musicians I look up to . Love Failure as much as I do. Thank you Faliure for all the music through the years and congrats for coming out the other side.
The moment I discovered Failure I knew I had unlocked another dimension of rock music and found my new favorite band. That riff on Heliotropic still haunts me like a ghost that I can't help but let in my room every single time.
"Stuck On You" is one of my top ten favorite songs of all time, and I never thought I'd get a chance to experience it live. At the last minute, and just happening to decide to visit LA during the event, I was able to grab a ticket to "Cinquanta" at The Greek, and I could never thank Maynard enough for inviting Failure to play. The opening notes to "Stuck On You" rung out, I went into shock that this was finally happening for me, burst into tears, and had to sit down, sobbing. I will filled with so much joy, contentment, and gratitude. I will never forget how that moment felt. Thank you, Failure.
Awesome, cannot wait! Since I am not using any social media anymore (only TH-cam), I COMPLETELY missed their latest album release! So I am very happy that my wife couldn't think of a christmas present and now I have one :)
My first Failure experience was live when they were on tour for Fantastic Planet with Local H and Ednaswap in 97. Ever since Failure has been one of my biggest influences as a musician.
I discovered Failure in high school in like 2006, long after they’d stopped making music, and I’m just in utter disbelief that I’ve seen them play live as many times as I have since then, and that they’re still making music to this day. Incredible. Can’t wait to see this documentary. Thank you guys, for everything.
I remember hearing "Stuck On You" on the radio for the first time on my way to class as a senior in college (92x in Denver, 1996) and it blew me away. The very first Failure song I ever heard was "Saturday Saviour" on a local radio station back when Fantastic Planet came out. I was 15 then. I'm still blasting that album, as well as the others, today at 41.

Interesting. I was a Junior in high school around 96, and ditched school for the day. I remember going to a friend's house who put on a recording of MTV 120 minutes from the night before. "Stuck on you" came on, and I was like "Who the F*k are these guys?" Loved the guitar. Troy has class, and played that Digitech Whammy pedal with such good taste and creativity - much better than other guitarists that were "raging" at the time. Well done, Troy!
I didn’t know who she was at first lol that’s cool. Failure was an important band. I hate to say it but Fantastic Planet has gotta be too 25 most important rock albums of the 90s easily. The other albums not so much but still great.
Have been a Failure fan since the late 90's, the new stuff is every bit as phenomenal as the Fantastic Planet that hooked me from the start. So many dark days made brighter by their music, Thank you......
This gave me chills. Failure has definitely influenced me over the years and I've only grown to appreciate their music more as the years tick by. Can't wait to watch this doc!
I heard Failure and Kyuss the same day in the 90s. I was coming back from snowboarding and my friends older brother put them on when we were driving home. I still remember the drive. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. It shaped the way I play guitar to this day.
I want to say thank you guys for being such an important part of my formative years. Your music continues to mean so much to me at such a visceral level. I hope you are all well, and please never leave me again.

Then when I was 15 an older boy put stuck on you on a mixed tape for me. Then when I was 17 I fell in love with a boy who loved your music and introduced me to all the albums. Pillowhead was one of the first songs I learned on the bass. Basically your music has been a soundtrack to my love life for 20 years. Undone video is right up there next to heart shaped box for all time favorites. It gets me emotional. I love you guys as well as your other amazing projects. Literally one of my favorite bands of all time. Their music has been a part of my everyday life for a couple years now. So grateful I came across their music
I'll just say this: when I got Fantastic Planet for the first time, it made me forget that I also listened and loved to so many other bands and records for quite a long time. It simply took me to another dimension in many ways, they work together like very few other bands can. They're from another planet, a fantastic one.
Helmet, Failure Quicksand,FAR,At The Drive Inn, Snapecase,The Refused..... these bands shaped my taste of great music..
Don't forget HUM
Man, Brian’s comment about Failure being a band you find and those being the bands that mean the most to you really resonates with me.

I never get tired of this music, it's phenomenal and I'm so glad I found them, even got me into guitar.
I'll just say this: when I got Fantastic Planet for the first time, it made me forget that I also listened and loved to so many other bands and records for quite a long time. It simply took me to another dimension in many ways, they work together like very few other bands can. They're from another planet, a fantastic one.
This is much deserved. You guys are too awesome to *not* have a documentary!
I saw them live in "93 opening for Tool in a small club. My ears are still ringing.
Can't wait. Failure is one of the best bands ever.
Proud to say Failure is definitely on my top 3 favorite bands ever.
I’m going to see these guys live no matter what it takes. So stoked for this.
Best fucking band ever....in my opinion
