this is so simple, only three guys to play it, a simple bass line, simple drum beat, no crazy guitar tabs, no extremely fast or high vocals, but its still one of the most beautiful things i've ever heard
i listened to this hundreds of times but every single time i come here the existance of such songs stones me

That's a good way to describe Failure. Not sad, but something similar... I was also just thinking about it at work today, how a lot of music I like isn't really similar to Failure. I like a lot of stuff with a groove to it... stuff that reaches the soul. Failure doesn't really reach the soul so much as the psyche... which in turn has an effect on the heart, but its not as direct as other music. A thinking man's rock band.
(I mean, sure its moody as hell sometimes, so maybe my description doesn't hold up to close scrutiny with every song lol. Also mainly talking about Fantastic Planet and the lack of syncopation... kinda wish they would do more stuff like that. Their new stuff is awesome and heavy, but it has a totally different beat to it. I think Ken even described it once, and I thought yes! That's what I'm picking up!)

Smth abt this song makes me wish I had someone, and I used to cry sometimes listening to this song bc it reminded me so much about this girl that I liked for a very long time and I wasn’t able to ask her out, out of a combination of fear and her own inaccessibility bc of an extended quarantine. I would literally be in TEARS. I got over her eventually, but this song still holds a place in my heart where I feel longing when I hear it. Patient time will carry me

The only song of Failure's that I heard have any airplay was "Stuck On You." That was back in the mid nineties. It wasn't until aught-four that I actually bought the Fantastic Planet album, and when I heard this song, I was totally blown away. It only took listening a handful of times for me to conclude that it is my favorite song of all time and has been so ever since. That whole album is fucking amazing. Failure is truly a phenomenal band.

their sound is so perfect for taking you to a place that's hard to talk about - a place where you want to cry, want to be held, want to explore, want to open yourself up and completely soak up another person or idea. this song will always make me think of a person who means the world to me. whether or not that works out is irrelevant. I met you at a strange time in my life - and you are the love of my life. you reminded me that life is worth living - you are what I couldn't find, and where I break down. thank you so much for giving me purpose again, and for reminding me that life is beautiful. my love for you knows not limits.

Failure are 100% my favourite band of the 90s. Their songwriting, instrumentation, themes of social isolation and addiction are only matched by Alice in Chains IMO. The fact this band never made it into the big 5 is tragic but also strangely fitting in a bittersweet sense.
