I've had this experience with chrome tannages. Some are combo tannage and they're not as bad, but WOW,..they can really reek most of the time. What I did was hang it from a rack in the garage. After about a month the smell was nearly unnoticeable. I've found that it's often the finishes they apply during processing. They don't let them air out properly before rolling and packaging. The aroma becomes rancid and bonds with the leather. This side appears to have upholstery qualities. High flex almost like a beach towel. One can often find those discounted quite low due to manufacturing error (hence the smell.) Buyer beware. Lessons learned. Cheers. 🥛🍪🍪
I had to laugh when I saw you putting in the rivets. I have the same problem with my snippers, can't get enough leverage to cut those copper posts easily. I have been wondering where you live. If I had to guess I would say somewhere in New England.

@@pepleatherlab3872 Lesson learned is right! If it happens again I’ll leave it unrolled in the garage. Good idea.
That looks good I like it keep the leftover to patch it sometime in the future u new know when a log maks a hole
@@carelbrits That’s a good idea. This chrome is pretty soft. No match for a torn branch of oak!

@@dangvalverde lol, I feel wimpy trying to snip them rivets when I see others whack them right off! Got to blame the snippers, right?
Yep, I’m in MA.
You need a pair of nippers from a farrier supply store like Centuron Forge.
@@JBSLeathercrafts i knew I was shopping in the wrong place. I’ll check it out. Thank you!
