Great video. I was tickled by you saying you want the bows to be conducive to sneaking up on an animal so the orange wood wouldn’t work. Then you backed it in bright red. Lol Mad skills and respect.
I love watching an artist at their craft. I might give the PVC one a go, but my skills are not up to the task of wood. I really deeply appreciate your taking the time to capture the process. Happy New Year!!!
Just wanted to say thank you for the content. I've gotten back into archery recently and have gotten interested in trying to make my own bows instead of just the old ones I have from when my dad and I used to shoot as a kid. Your videos are the big inspiration behind me wanting to try and make my own, so I appreciate the instructional format, as well as the variety.
I didn't expect the PVC bow to be satisfying to watch. I've never seen the tubes being shaped before. That being said, could you make a better bow with lumber? Pine is super cheap, but oak is probably also available in most hardware stores. The build process of a wooden bow seems much more enjoyable
@Benjamin.stevens cool - i will add it to my watch list :) your videos really make me want to build a bow - unfortunately i dont have a good place to shoot it
Try spar urethane on your Osage bow to water proof the back Enjoying your videos. I’m 72 and have made 18 bows this past year and have built about 30 bows in my life time. Working on my first bow of Sugarberry(hackberry family) seems like a very strong wood. Just started tiller work this morning. Wish me luck. I’m baking it in digital camo for an army veteran friend .
Hi ! Happy new year !! On my first hazel bow, I have glued a triangular piece of legs beef bones (this one you use for the sup ! :P ) to make arrows rests ! :) Nice channel ! :) Best regards from switzerland. (Sorry for my english, I speak frensh)
I’ve been hunting and shooting archery for a couple years now and after watching your videos you’ve inspired me to create my own bow. I have a couple questions that I would really appreciate an answer to. 1. How do you determine how long your bow should be? 2. Does wood type matter? 3. You said to make sure and stretch the paracord before you use it. How do you do that? 4. If I have just a rasp and some clamps can I create this. I appreciate any advice thanks a bunch!
Cool! It’s very rewarding. 1. Your draw length plus the static parts of the bow (handle and fades). There is some wiggle room but I like 64 with a 4 inch handle and 2 inch fades. (I draw 28 inches). 2. Yes wood matters, but there are lots of good options, oak, hickory, ash, Osage, birch… too many to list. 3. Probably use a real bow string and not paracord. I only did that for the pvc bow to keep costs low. I recommend b55 string material. 4. Yeah, rasps and clamps will get you started. A draw knife is nice to have.
j'adore vos vidéos . j'aimerai me procurer un bois d'osages en france on en trouve pas . comment peut on en trouver aux US et le faire venir en France?

Really like the concept of using cheap and expensive materials. Keep the videos coming 👍

Be proud of the birch.
Awesome time 😅
Another hit! The tanned salmon skin is awesome! (Dare I call it salmon leather?). Very cool.

It’s tough here too. You’d have to find someone with a good supply on Facebook.

Hi. You could try black locust sometime:))
I’d love to try black locust!
Stains the wood because he thinks the NATURAL COLOR of the wood is too bright. Proceeds to glue a bright red fish skin onto it.
I thought you were serious until you brought out the para cord. Then I moved on.
