In this one, I finish my novel and also rewrite just over 47,000 in 17 days. Technically, I wrote those words in less time, but I did also proof and copy edit the whole book. It has been a WHIRLWIND. I loved hearing that as well. I also loved the addition of saying how long it took to finish a novel. It always feels like everyone pushes out novels in like 3-6 months and having a timeline of 1,5 years feels much more realistic with a full-time job.
I've never felt prouder of a human I've never met. You're already a published author before 30 which is crazy considering how you had to work so so hard to get there. That was astonishing. But this? This is huge. A novel. A whole novel, Christy. From that young person doing art and recording herself to this? I just...don't know how to describe the joy I feel for you. You're such an incredible human. People like you feel make the world feel more like home, feel more kind and hopeful and friendly. I will be honored the day I get to purchase your book. Then, lovingly open that first page and delve into this world you held in your mind and heart for years. It will feel like the highest honor.
I'm so proud of you, Christy! You may never know how much seeing you work inspires me with my own thesis writing frustration. I'll be honored to read this book however and whenever you publish it. It already has a special place in my heart, seeing it coming to life.
The read aloud feature is amazing! They made the voices super realistic and I can almost listen to an audiobook of my novel! It is not ideal, and especially in fantasy, they struggle with pronouncing things the way I want them to, but it is an excellent feature.
I’ve been thinking about life and time a lot lately. I’m staring down 40, and just recently have I been able to find space in my life to write. When I look back at the last 20 years, and lack of commitment to my creativity, it makes me feel so awful. Surely if I was hungry enough, wanted it enough, I would have made the time to pursue it? But, then I remember, I raised two kids, I’ve worked almost nonstop since college, my career is intense and high stress but has enabled us to live our current life, and I know my limits. I’m beginning to feel more comfortable about my late start, and feel better about my choices. I have the space in my life now, where I can commit to something else, without neglecting other priorities, and it feels wonderful.
I still remember watching the video where you first told us that you're working on a new novel, and I have stayed long enough to watch the process and ultimately the end of you're writing journey with Project Teacup! Congratulations, Christy! We are all excited to see your book in bookshop shelves and to read all the words you have written!

As a painter and illustrator, yeah, everything you just said about being a creative person but also juggling a day job really hit home. I feel very burnt-out a lot of times. Even though we're creating things we love and are passionate about, it's still a tremendous amount of work and takes so much emotionally and energy-wise. It's like working two full time jobs.
Anyways! congratulations on your novel :) can't wait to read it.

Writing a novel is such an interesting concept - some authors take years to write one book, and others write a book in 6 months, so interesting to see how different people approach the same hobby/career differently

I got emotional with the video because I've been following your whole journey with project teacup and now I can't wait to read this novel 💜
I started watching you when your video "I Tried Neil Gaiman's Writing Routine" popped up on my recommendations. And then I discovered your writing blogs and kept coming back for more. I'm an artist and a writer, but the writing is more difficult for me to follow through and finish. I think it's because I have so many ideas that I struggle to stick with a longer/larger project. But watching you work through Project Teacup is very inspirational. And I've found myself writing a lot more these days. I'll often put your writing vlogs on as background for my own writing time, so, thank you for that. And yeah, trying to squeeze in the time for something like art and writing is a challenge. Some days, the "day job" drains you of everything and all you want to do is sit and stare at the TV. I can't even to begin to image what it's like for someone with a family. Congratulations! It's well earned. And good luck.
