I went to Manchester Airport where the British Airways Concorde is now and went inside. When I walked into the cabin I could imagine the people sitting waiting for take off and looked out of the tiny windows that Concorde had and thought of how it would feel to be so lucky to fly on the Concorde. This was my favourite trip I ever took.

7:00 the Concorde always landed with the visor down, so the removable cockpit window piece should not be on the model when in landing configuration. That raised visor piece would be placed on the model for when the aircraft is being displayed as if it was at cruise altitude.

10:35 fun fact: my dad works at British airways and the car park is the staff park so if you work for BA and you go to the end on the parking you see it up close!

I got the JC Wings 1:200 Concorde (Same Mould) in the Pepsi livery and I absolutely LOVE it. Honestly one of the best models in my collection and arguably the best 1:200 Gemini/JC Wings mould / model.
I just got mine as well, and I agree! The detail is baffling, especially compared to other moulds. JC really went all out!
Lucky enough to have this model, such a beautiful one. sounds crazy but I remember the exact moment and where I was when I heard they were retiring Concorde, I was 15 and I was gutted and baffled. Bring BOAB up to us in Manchester and she can sit with her sister BOAC, we will take care of her.

Sad to hear of G-BOAB’s situation. She deserves better. Here’s to hoping they give her some new life and put her on display for people to see. These planes are so elegant and impressive to just leave them to rot.
I will get one of these eventually in 1:200. I already have an Airbus A350 in British Airways I bought from a guy on CL. I also have the Airbus A380 in British Airways which is huge. I also have a Corgi Spitfire in 1:72. But my best one is the Antanov 225. This thing is a beast.

Great unboxing video. When they were building T5 at Heathrow that Concorde there was going to go in T5 but I don’t know what happened probably did not have enough room when building T5

I have been collecting 1:200 of Inflight for years, because I love their finish. Do you personally think Gemini is better than Inflight models in the 1:200 scale, and why? Curious to learn your opinion on the matter, without saying which one is the best. Great video by the way! Keep it up!
In 1/200 scale I believe Gemini jet's are better, there's a lot more detail in Gemini 200 I find and Thanks man!

@@Aviation18 Also, the visor was never raised for landing. The way the plane was designed was for it to retract into the nose, then the pilots would lower the nose and that gave them the visibility needed for such fast landings.
I have this model but totally disregarded the fact the nose could droop purely out of fear of breaking it, and I totally didn’t see the rear real... but overall I agree what a fantastic model this is
Yes, I do that with a lot of military aircraft where the back opens, I don't want to force it incase it breaks

I totally agree with you mate that's not the way to treat one of our historical aircraft especially an aircraft which used to be the fastest aircraft the supersonic concorde, it's an absolute blady disgrace of how the spanish owners didn't give a damn about heathrow's history especially of our british airways concorde and just replaced the concorde model from the main round about and dumped it on the side of the runway and no one is doing anything about it no one!
I only opened the box once, to not to damage this beautiful model.

I have one of these models and agree with you this is a great model of IMO the best aircraft ever to fly. It is an utter disgrace that it has been left to rot the way it has makes my blood boil. I think at one time an idea was muted to place it on a barge on the Thames near the London eye.👍😍 I have a video on my channel of my model collection.

The interior of the Concorde gave me a stomach ache for 4 seconds.

Having only British Airways or only Air France Concorde's in one's collection is a heresy! Concorde is not AF or BA, she's both! Having only one of the companies is like negating history or splitting twins apart. Each company had common and own respective destinations (NYC and Washington DC were common destinations, Rio and Caracas were exclusive to AF while Barbados and Bahrain were exclusive to BA, among many others for both companies).
11:00 gave me a heartache, nausea and watery eyes! That's not a decent way to treat Concorde, one of the few human made modern marvels (and one of the two Anglo-French marvels, the other one being the Channel tunnel).
11:35 Don't know why but I really doubt that expansion will ever see the light of day, at least not in that shape or size. So many evictions, so much nature and city reclaimed... Not counting the road system and building nightmare it would be.
Concorde's end was one of the very few moments in history where progress regressed. I know it wasn't viable anymore, economically as environmentally, to fly them for either companies but it's so sad.

France's Nantes Notre-Dame des Landes or Grand Ouest Airport is a good example: a two runway + bar shaped terminal replacement passenger airport to the completely saturated Nantes Atlantique airport (LFRS, capacity 3.5M, terminal ridership rose from 4 to 7,5M between 2014 and 2019).
The project was fully validated, completely planned and designed, almost every evictions already executed and all, building and excavation machines on site and ready to start. But it was finally tanked after numerous protester camps emerged and riots happened onsite, turning the area into something resembling a war zone or a siege, with police in riot gear against hordes of "ZADists" protesters squatting the site, ground holes, makeshift sheds and trees included. (ZAD meaning Zone À Défendre : Zone to defend).
This project had way few evictions to execute (and were already completed) and was in a nearly empty area compared to Heathrow but opposition became so strong that the project was killed, costing millions. Opposition was almost only motivated by environmental and nature preservation concerns as there were no more inhabitants to evict, only one farmland remained with no homes left if memory serves.
No matter what, after years of squatters' riots, countless court filings and millions poured down the drain of the project, it was abandoned despite a local referendum supporting the project 55+% (44+% against).

From what I've seen of the Heathrow project so far, evictions and land reclamations are far from being done or barely even started (there are thousands to do) and local and national opposition is quite strong. And it looks like there's a far far far stronger local opposition surrounding Heathrow than in Nantes where inhabitants of the city itself were even more in favor of the project than other referendum voters farther from the project. Certainly because Nantes LFRS only runway points directly to the city center, the replacement airport would have had a pair of runways tangent to the city center, alleviating the noise for the city and restrictions for aircraft movements and maneuvers ; only Airbus activity would have remained at LFRS.
Nowadays, with environmental and ownership rights concerns, such large projects are far from done, wether they are validated or not. That's why I have so many doubts Heathrow will ever get its third runway and terminal 6 expansion, at least not like that as it's way too much urbanized around the airport and I can't begin to imagine the social nightmare (and civil unrest) that evictions and land reclamation will rise.
Paris 4th international airport project had the same fate many years ago (even though the project was in a way less advanced stage and only preliminary, it would have been a huge airport and some of the near dozen of possible locations would have been in the middle of nowhere between Paris and Orleans or in Picardie).
Finally, on a completely different subject but closer to the point of the video: the model is lovely and I want one ASAP but the nose of the model seems off, the pressure tube at the peak seems way too long and thick. At least for a series Concorde. Only the pre-series prototype had such a long tube on the nose.

Mine arrived today. Fantastic model, but beware (as Gemini warn), the engine clam shells are so easily damaged. I managed to do that within minutes of handling it. They don't break, they just 'pop out' and are REALLY hard to relocate. I spent around 3 hours. All good now but she's on her display stand, never to be touched again.
