Watanabe and higashino, The most unique mixed combo. Probably the only pair not reliant on both the male’s power and the woman’s defensive skills. Purely just speed, talent, trickery and precision.

Watched this live and YES!!!!!!! I knew they could do it, history is made for Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino to be the first Japanese Mixed Doubles pair to win the Japan Open! The Thai pair kept them on their toes and played well to come back in the first game. Great Final and Yuta/Arisa are in great form right now!

Watanabe constantly finding the gaps in the opposite court is just amazing!! Pure talent, dont think any coach can teach you that.

I can do the same easy, it is innate ability but I dont have coach... :D

Yes, I remember a doubles opponent at a club I used to visit saying to me 'Gary, I have realised why you're so difficult to play against, it's because you always hit the shuttle to where no-one is'. I laughed and replied 'well, there's no point hitting it directly to the opposing players'. So, I appreciate Watanabe's style, the little angles and pushes into gaps, because it's a fun way to play, much more so than smash smash smash all the time. And it wasn't coached to me, I just developed that style through playing.

@@nguyenviethung6794 yes of course, see, if i had a coach i would be world number one in mens singles, doubles, and mixed because of my innate ability. unfortunately i dont, so i cant.

Asking commentators not to talk throughout the play is such an innovative idea. I prefer listening to their commentary. That makes more sense and the match more interesting.

@@Aragorn333 They can comment between points and say a quick few words during play. Have you not been paying attention or turned off the volume? They always talk about other stuff such as history, etc. which is totally unrelated to the match when players are playing.
