My conclusion, I haven't watched the video all the way though, but game developers are SOOOO CUTE! WHY!? not that I'm complaining, cause I am one. But still
When you're talking about movement using raycasts... what would that be like exactly and why would that be beneficial? Is that like in the jumping cubes game, the "dash" move or something?
Amazing presentation ! Really insightfull ! I'm starting now to study game development with a bunch of friends and this really showed me how to aproach prototypes better !
'Paper prototypes' are a terrible thing really... the sooner you get some programming going that tests the concept, the quicker you know whether you should discard something that 'sounds great on paper, but simply doesn't work'.
They say it takes 2 weeks to complete. Stage 1 or level 1. No, I mean the whole game and whole stage. How long it take you? uhm....uhghhhh.... sigh* face palm.
For his scope is a lot more valuable than you think. Having a person create for you 3 sword attacks in maybe 2 days or something is nearly 150 euros. So... yes it is a good deal for a prototype.
Not often I have to put something on 1.75x. I'd have done 2x if it was still understandable. Just sayin, for somebody focused on getting things done quick.. soooo slooooowwww lol
Their prototypes look much better that all the games I made in my life together! :(
You gotta start somewhere. Don't get discouraged!
same
I got the same feeling ;)
To be fair it also looks miles better than all the games THEY have been making lately...
Don't feel bad they have graphic designers and stuff.
Note: Reuploaded with updated speaker information.
Conclusion: The man loves his cubes.
My conclusion, I haven't watched the video all the way though, but game developers are SOOOO CUTE! WHY!?

Why would someone dislike this?
Much knowledge, very like.
i was going to write the same thing xD
Bad presenter, too much "uhh"
The questions from the audience are amazing!
"I think cubes were enough, but you know.... people." I love this quote haha.
Still watching, but good stuff! Thanks Renaud!
15:31, would love to see this go some where
The talk is very good. It would have been nice to have a camera showing the people during the Q/A round.
Did the MMFeedback class discussed at 33:40 ever get released to open source?
Please, some tutorial of this Health Bar behavior at 32:30 !! So awesome!
These prototypes look better than anything Gameloft has developed over the last few years
Cool tips . It will really helps Developer.
Your Topdown Engine is GREAT!
Even if this is a reup, its greatly timed since the next Ludum Dare is coming.
I like those games but how do you made those cool cube animations? They looks so smooth
Animation Clip, I think.
@@thanatosor // This Cube is changing shape so either rigged cube or shader
@@wokarol seem like Jelly Cube Game Starter Kit in Unity asset store
@@舒杨-v9f 谢谢🤩

I need to play the game (the cube game)..
The game seems so smooth and amazing..
Love it!

that game is smooth because of polygon graphics
Anyone knows the game name of the racing game running at @05:31

Very interesting, I didn't know Houdini, he looks interesting as software! Thanks!

weird having a speaker talk and us just see a slide...
37:42 Is that Google's robotic voice asking a question?
careful with odin, I had some situations where it started behaving weirdly

The presentation could have been a lot better if a bit more effort was put on making it, if it got revised and if an experienced pitcher presented it
'Paper prototypes' are a terrible thing really... the sooner you get some programming going that tests the concept, the quicker you know whether you should discard something that 'sounds great on paper, but simply doesn't work'.
Depends on the game. Hearthstone could be paper prototyped and be the exact same gameplay experience, just a different presentation
I dont even know how he makes the cubes jump like that :(
Enduror19 you can use dotween
These prototypes are too well polished.
"Instant Juice"

Effectcore's VFX Packs - 30$ for 3 sword attacks? No.
For his scope is a lot more valuable than you think. Having a person create for you 3 sword attacks in maybe 2 days or something is nearly 150 euros. So... yes it is a good deal for a prototype.
This guy sounds like that AI made by google... Any second now he will make a reservation
it's his fucking ehhmms cause he's an anxious wreck
all game name?
Two minutes in and my ears are bleeding from how much this guy is saying uhhhh
just for future reference, try to limit the number of times you say "um". It's definitely a step to improve your presentation skills.
Too much "umm... Uhh" on his speech..
Not often I have to put something on 1.75x. I'd have done 2x if it was still understandable. Just sayin, for somebody focused on getting things done quick.. soooo slooooowwww lol
This is so outdated in these days lol
In what ways?
uhhhh
Uuuuuhm
Uuuumm , bla bla, uuuuummm
