I got my Heeler tired once. She passed out and didn’t move for six hours. Then right back to it. They get tired but are so tough and dedicated they don’t show it. The greatest dogs IMHO.
I take mine for long walks and play tugowar with her till my arms fall off and she still keeps going lol. My uncles red heeler loves fetch and if you want to stop then you have to take the toy away and put it where he can't reach or he'll keep bringing it back. ❤
Heeler/Border Collie mix I have will do 2-3 hours at dog park playing with dogs twice her size and still wants more when we get home. At least all the other dogs at park are tired.
Mines the same way. Like I’m a very active person with my dog and I’ve only truly seen him tired one time. A lot of times I’ll think he’s tired and then he starts running around with his toys.
Mines still got his origanal soft toys and never damages anything cought him going to piss on the floor when a pup ,said no!,outside so has never pissed in the house ever so smart and very tough and when l say the other dogs are good he never starts fights but never backs down seems to know how to manage them and they end up playing .the are so quick when he puts his head up and says behave the do.they are very strong .Aussies you did a great job breeding them ....little else 😊yes lm a kiwi ❤
Sorry you don't have your good friend anymore. Yeah, I'm missing mine too. We lost her during Covid after 15y 7m 1d. So, almost 16 too. Very healthy up until the last few days, and then she passed. It was from hemangiosarcoma (I think). Hardly no signs until a seizure (or syncope event) during the last week.
I had ours tired a few times but it took Non stop Frisbee throwing for a long time and she would have to get a drink and would vomit after drinking and be ready for more. She was a machine. She died in about 1982 after chasing a Doberman down our long driveway and across a busy road. She never went down there but must have thought that she was protecting us.

If you do just know they are very very very active dogs. If you can’t give them an active life their going to be a nightmare to handle. Plus they go threw a rough faze when their pups. Like mine I got at 6weeks old and until he was around 8 months he was a fucking demon dog. But if you can provide all that and tough out their puppy years they are the best dog ever. Super fucking smart really loyal and really protective. I could see why people would want them for a emotional support dog also because they literally follow you everywhere you go.
@@xaphan8581 I've heard as much honestly! They sound almost on par with Belgian malinois sometimes. Everyone I've spoken to has said pretty much it takes a whole lot of blood sweat and tears but they really sound like the picture perfect dog in the end! It's gonna be years before I'd get one but in the meantime I plan on going to these shows that a localish Australian Cattle Dog club holds, as well as talking to breeders and getting myself up to date on dog training for a dog far more... Well just more lmao to make sure that I'd actually be able to handle one!
My 3-yo heeler is sweet and quiet, laying on my bed for naps. She does enjoy a walk, but she is not anything like the uncontrollable balls of energy sometimes described.
I had a blue heeler. She was my soulmate dog! I had to do a bedtime routine for her (I don't have kids yet but I feel like she prepared me well). Every night at the same time we went for a walk then she went to bed. I had to have her sleep in the laundry room with the door shut, otherwise her brain wouldn't turn off. She would only sleep when she had no other option. 😂 There is no fiercer love than from a blue heeler. 💙
My friend whose a trainer taught me that working breeds can never tire they will continue to work its their drivem you need to work them mentally jot physically. I have a red heeler so I understand
Yes they need both mental and physical stimulation, but it can be done. I have tired mine out before it just lasts like a minute before we are on to the next thing. 😆
It's the same with my 2! haha They come but from an hour's walk, have a drink and MAYBE couple of minutes of laying down but if you pick up that lead again they are up on their feet prancing around for ANOTHER walk haha
I have 3 red heelers, momma, and 2 brothers Jade, Tank and00am Ruger. They are never tired even when they are tired...lol. Give them a ball and they will play for hours.
Youre a saint . I have one of these dogs. A red healer. Got him at ten wks old. I had a one year old son at the time. The patience and time i put into both of them. These kinds of dogs are so intelligent. My son is now 2 1/2 yrs old and let a stranger get near him lmao. He heards me all day long. Hes literally my shadow. He is he is the most affectionate and intelligent dog ive ever had. As long as you keep them engaged and happy they are good . If you dont get them enough attention they become destructive. Will never own another breed after this!!! Do your research tho they are not for everyone. They dont get tired and need a lot of attention and excersize. Its funny too because my neighbor have two rottweilers that love my dog. He's known them since we got them. He tries to Heard them andthey let them. So funny to see a 34 lb dog chasing two fully grown rottys. They run for about two hours until the rots are like ok thats enough were worn out go home young pup!!!
Someone here said that these dogs definitely need training.. I had a nice red female heeler that lived to 14 yrs. She had a patch over her left eye.. She was the runt of a big litter. I named her patch. She was from a breeder that only breed pure heelers.. Patch was at full weight at 25 pounds with her thick tail. Patch was fat at 26 lbs. I loved her, fed her, played with her, and i found she automatically would herd the chickens, so one day i said to her, go get the horses and pointed.,, she would heel them by nipping at back feet and barking at them, she brang them to me. She had great herding instincts in her blood and brain through breeding.. A good dog has herding in there blood line already breed in them.. She was super smart. Except she would kill mice & rats & the baby chicks that came through the fence from next door.. we had two acres for the animals. Patch never tried to kill baby pigme goats. She just killed the baby chicks, rats & mice, and ya did not have to say anything. She just had the natural instinct to do that.. She was a dog that always wanted to be with you every where you went.. But patch stayed with either one or the other Rottweiler in front yard or backyard Rottweiler 😊 The long haired border Collie eventually stayed in front yard with the frontyard Rottweiler & patch was in with the other Rottweiler. The small light brown pure boxer at 25-30 lbs was a rescue dog. That was TRAINWRECK,, Trainwreck was a starving, dehydrated, cuts, lumps, bruises, laying under a new van when i found her at the Railroad drop yard.. I looped a rope around her and pulled her out, because she was ready to die & i was not sure of how she would react after i put hands on her to pull her out.. Anyway she was about 5 yrs old.. i took her home and she was a beautiful loving dog in the end. She loved to play and jump and run.. i had her for about 10 yrs.. One morning i looked out window and she was doing her normal patrol duty of property, i thought that after i make tea, i would go out and play with her.. Keeping in mind she was super fit, no health issues whatsoever right.. So i go out with hot morning tea in hand. I spotted her laying next to the extra refrigerator we had on front porch like any hillbilly would have, LOL .. anyway, trainwreck had just layed down and went to sleep. And she was gone.. That was a sad day... So that was a story of Jack, Manny, Suzie, patch, & Trainwreck. Oh Trainwreck had been hit by a rail car backing in the southern Pacific railroad drop yard for new cars. 😊😊😊i have had many other dogs in my time.. I find myself now with an acre of forest property in northern Arizona and wanting now to find another red & blue heeler. All my horses, goats, chickens, dogs, red durroc pigs have all been gone since 2014. I need a new friend. Oh the dogs in my life of about 20 dogs total,, they were all rescued from abusive folks, that had no patience for an animal.. Except for patch, the 25 lb runt of the litter, red heeler, i paid for, the pure breed heeler was found at 4 weeks old eating wet food and had all her shots. I had no job at the time back then, she had no papers for some reason.. the parents was there at the feed store.. I paid 75.00 for the potato sized heeler, and so we road home that morning..😊😊😊😊😊 She was blind when she had a seizure one afternoon.. that was the day i lost her.. I,m sorry, i had a full grown black & white pure breed long haired border collie named Buddy. I found buddy one evening behind walmart just laying there scolded like. I had him for 6 years.. i lost buddy in 2015 of February.. Going to build a nice off grid cabin for me and a new future red & blue female or male heeler.. remember people, a neutered animal lives longer.. Hoped everybody enjoyed my story. Not sure why i shared. Maybe i needed that.....😊😊😊😊 ✝️🇺🇸🤠🪕🪕
My Blue Heeler Maverick just hit 5 months old yesterday. Still teething like crazy, but I found that freezing a bag of baby carrot and giving him some when he's whining helps a lot. He loves them! He still isn't a big fan of walks or the heat, will play fetch with a frizbee but looks at you when you throw a ball like "why did you throw it away? That was a perfectly good ball!" and I have to retreive it. LOL
Baby carrots are the best for teething puppies! I know what you mean about having to retrieve the ball lol. Took Sully forever to understand he should bring it back lol
I have a Heeler/husky I adopted he is the hardest working in my household 😂if we don’t wake up when he does he will howl and sprint around my house until we do every morning like clockwork
I have a Blue Heeler/Rottweiler mix, and let me tell you from experience, that dog is never tired. He wants to play catch, even when it's raining, or muddy outside.
LOL! I agree totally! We have a female Red Heeler named Moose (We didn’t name her) and we have to take her for walkies roughly 5 times a day to exercise out her zoomies. She even comes looking for me around the house when it’s time for her to go outside.

Our Clea is very lazy and loves her couch more than work lol. She's also very calm for a heeler.
