Why Do People Give Warnings About Heelers? ~ Well, Meet Lucien ~

  • Why do people give so many warnings about cattle dogs when they are so wonderful? Well, bad pet parents or not enough training are some reasons but then there are also dogs like Lucien. There are many situations and reasons for why we warn potential heeler parents, Lucien is just one example. He is still a wonderful boy, even with all his derpness. :)

    Just adopted an eight year old healer for days ago from a friend of mine in Virginia, who passed away this healer, and been chained up outside for the last eight years and now he’s on my patio, loving all over me. He is one of the smartest ones I’ve had and I’ve had many in my 62 years. Love him to death. Thank you for listening, if you get one, just love it

      They are the best dogs in the world. I've had 7 in my life and fortunately 5 of them I got to call mine, 2 were fosters. Sorry about your friend but happy to hear he's got a good home with you. Take care.

      I got one make sure you train them well early they are so loyal and mine is an Alfa no dog has ever dominated him once he grew up and would do it with out fighting they would end up like in him and play .at barbecue the cook told 6 dogs who were after meats ready for cooking to get away .he instantly got inbetween them and they all stayed back.these were tough dogs doing what he wanted and happy to do it.

    100% this is my experience with my blue heeler. THANK YOU. I've cried out of frustration. From the peeing, biting, over-protective nature, even down to taking her to a trainer and behavioralist while GETTING COMPLIMENTED NONSTOP how "well behaved" my dog is. I'm constantly gaslighted by this dog/sour patch kid/demon. Love her to pieces and she's with me for life regardless. Thankfully peeing issue was resolved when she turned close to 3. I'll always warn people because the negative traits are not for the faint of heart and these dogs end up in rescues and euthanized left and right over what they literally are bred to do... bite, chase, and be tough crazy little dudes.

    • @TheHeelerMama
      @TheHeelerMama  3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Lu was 3 when we finally got the peeing and socialization and everything under control. All my heelers took work but man, yes, not like him. He was a challenge. That is also why I warn people from what you just said. They get tossed into shelters and euthanized and it just breaks my heart. I've seen way too many get abandoned and they were just doing "normal" heeler things not anywhere near Lu's situation. Thank you for not giving up on your girl. I know many people told me years ago to get rid of Lu and I just refused to give up on him.

    • @enlightndark6671
      @enlightndark6671 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Dear Jessica, MY HEART GOES OUT TO YOU! THE SOLUTION is using the SITTING COMMAND with treats, as it TURNS OFF AGGRESSION and HERDING INSTINCT in DOGS! AND you must PHYSICALLY SEPARATE AND DESENSITIZE your DOG around CHILDREN PLAYING until she LEARNS TO REMAIN CALM! Otherwise the situation will escalate forever!
      GET A WOODEN STRETCHY BABY GATE and PEN OFF your dog near the kids play area, so she can watch but NOT INTERACT WITH KIDS EVERY DAY! Even an open closet or hall or kitchen corner with a x cross-slat wood gate will do! (The old fashion stretchy wood gates cannot be stood on so dogs wont JUMP them/but if she does jump it, then either get a tall piece of WIRE CATTLE fencing/HOME DEPOT or put her in a TALL DOG crate WHERE SHE CAN SIT!) SHE WILL BE ANXIOUS but YOU HAVE TO BE FIRM FORCING HER TO SIT in HER CORNER PEN for TREATS TO SHIFT HER MENTALITY!
      It is VITAL that SHE come to understand that KIDS PLAYING IS a NEUTRAL ACTIVITY that she MUST IGNORE while remaining CALM! SHE MUST IGNORE IT and never interact with them, LIKE IT IS JUST A LOUD TV SHOW or TRAFFIC SOUNDS! So REMOVE HER FROM THEIR PLAY AREA but EXPOSE HER TO THE NOISE until she IS LYING AROUND watching it BORED and even falls asleep!
      If she gets agitated watching PLAYTIME, TEACH YOUR KIDS to go over and raise hand palm UP like HIGH FIVE SIGNAL and say SIT over and over and over UNTIL SHE SITS, then LET THEM give her small treat in FLAT PALM offered under her chin (fingers tight together avoids nipping). IN DOGS Sitting and eating treats TURNS OFF AGGRESSION and HERDING INSTINCT! If the KIDS are COMMANDING and FEEDING your DOG, they BECOME ALPHA LEADERS and over time SHE WILL STOP HERDING them! I DID THIS SUCCESSFULLY with TWO BITING BARKING HUSKIES around SCREAMING TODDLERS!
      I cannot imagine the struggle you are going through right now trying to negotiate between the love for your children and your dog! Trust me, SEPARATING your DOG from your kids play area and ESTABLISHING BOUNDARIES and a SENSE OF CALM in your DOG will give everyone the happiness and peace you all need! BEST WISHES!

      great dogs, but as an Aussie we grew up knowing that you need to be cautious around a cattle Dog in the sense that the breed is a 1 person dog and will lay down its life to protect you from everything and will not fear a 1000kg bull. they must have a job, their default job if you don't give it one is protect you at all cost. also the dingo in them is born to roam and hunt so 8' fence is not a boundry for them, the only boundry for them is a zone around you they feel they need to protect.

    • @celestejohansen
      @celestejohansen 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      That’s exactly right! It helps to be honest! Heelers are one of the dogs that are most likely to be dumped off at the pound! When I bred heelers, I would get people asking me “how big do heelers get?” “Do heelers shed?” That kind of stuff, I would nicely tell them that I sell pups to their forever homes and heelers are not a dog that just anyone can own. I would tell them to spend time with heelers before they decide to get a Heeler. Basically, I required the new owners to have experience with this breed before I’d sell a pup.

    • @TheHeelerMama
      @TheHeelerMama  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@celestejohansen That is what I expect from breeders but sadly so many breeders out there now are not even checking and talking with people about the breed they are getting and like you said they end up in shelters and other bad situations. It really irks me. But love that you do that! My two newest ones came from a breeder that loved the breed and I was impressed with all the questions and knowledge she had and she wanted to know what type of parents and life her pups would be getting with us. Not sure if they are 100% but that don't matter to me they still are very much cattle dog tough. :)

    I know I’m late here but thank you for making such a real and honest video about heelers. I have a Lucien of my own who is 3 now and he’s a great dog but he has his quirks. He listens on a dime and practically trained himself but it’s like he’s almost too smart for his own good and he knows when a training session is over and shuts off. He’s sweet to me and my family and loves anyone who visits the house but he has to wear a muzzle when we go out after he became unpredictable when he was about a year. He worked on a ranch and was well socialized but something just turned and he lost all of his confidence around people and dogs. I felt terrible like I failed him and this gives me some reassurance and hope to keep working with him and eventually it will (sort of) click ☺️

    Nipping ankles is where the name “heeler” came from. It’s how they herd cattle in the direction they need. They also have a fair amount of dingo in their lineage. They were never bred to be pets, but extremely hardy working dogs. We had one when I was little in the 1970s on the farm. I was always told to be careful around him.

      Wow. About the Heeler remark. U said. Is so true- I’m a small dog groomer was a show breeder- now having to take care of my Young Son RED HEELER. Wow- these dogs are amazing - bred to do what there were bred for. For me you are spot on, in your comment - what you said about them. This dog I think would have been a perfect farmers dog. Keeping us busy playing catch with the toys. ( giving her a job to do). !!! I have a hyper son- the dog cannot stand his fast talk and hand movements. Bites his crock shoes 👞. When my son s actions are to hyped up the dog senses and tries to correct him. I take the dog for car rides to ATM at night and WAWA gas stations. ⛽️. Nobody then pandhandles or bothers me. My male blue heeler is 4 1/2 months old, smart, stubborn, energetic....about what you’d expect. Potty training was almost effortless, crate training was effortless. We spend almost 2+ hours walking or playing him hard, and he’s pretty chill otherwise. Started teething, and wouldn’t say it’s that bad you just give him his chew toy and monitor. Seen so much negative content online about warning you not to get a heeler. End of the day they are all individuals and will have their different quirks, but as long as you exercise them, and work on obedience they are great. He picks up new tricks or commands almost on the first try or soon after, his attention span is just short since he’s a puppy. My lil dude is going to be a stand up dog citizen. Lot of work, but the companion you get out of it is so worth it! For anyone thinking about getting any dog breed, it takes a lot of work to ensure they listen to commands, but if you are an active person who enjoys a little work then a blue heeler is for you!

      My other 3 are just like yours. No real problems with any of them just normal puppy dog stuff with the occasional stubbornness lol Lucien is my exception but he also had different things happen to him in his life and like you said they are all individuals. He just is who he is, and I've always just tried to do what's best for him. I do get irritated with the negativity as well but I've also seen so many rehomed or abandoned because pups like Lu or just ones who have a harder time in training and then get worse in their behavior issues end up suffering. My warning is mainly because, lets face it, there are a lot of people out there who don't give the time to their pets or training, and heelers can be challenging. Not always but can be. I'm glad to hear your pup is doing so well though. :)

    I have a cattle dog story!!
    I had a cattle dog when I was in 5th grade my family got a 9 month old heeler. At the time my family had no clue about the breed and she kept jumping out 6 foot fence and niping at our neigbors dog. My parents had to rehome her to someone with a farm because she was so high energy. Im 25 now and I still miss her dearly. She was the most loyal dog Ive ever had! She was super protective of me and always had her eye on me. If I climbed a tree or got ontop of a little shed we had in my back yeard she would freak!!! She would pace back and forth and bark and jump to try and follow me relentlessly until I got back down. She was also super patient and incredibly intelligent, she learned paw after three attempts and after she learned roll over, she would do it 5 or 6 times in a row because she was so driven. A cattle dog is my dream dog and Im saving for a house with more land so they will have plenty of space to be a crazy lil dog.

      Oh I'm so sorry to hear that she was rehomed. Sounds like she was such a good companion to you and looking out for you. That is so heart breaking. I can understand why they rehomed her though if they didn't know. We have 4ft and 6ft fences on our property, and I know my girls could clear the 4ft fence if they wanted but they don't. I couldn't imagine any of my pups constantly jumping the 6 footers. At least you know about the breed now and what to expect when you do get another one but I understand how she still holds a place in your heart. She really sounds like a special girl.

      What a great story and experience you had with your heeler. Honestly, I live in an apartment too, but have no issues with my girl indoors. I think the difference is, is that since I'm home with her, I can take her on a walk or to the park anytime she needs to release some energy. And if we get home after us playing ball or walking she needs more outside time, then we turn right around and head out the door again. I personally believe (and my vet agrees too) it really doesn't matter where you live as long as their physical needs are met. I don't know for a fact that if I was working and my girl didn't get worked like she does now, I'd be in big trouble and she would lack her physical needs

    I can tell how much you care for Lucien from how emotional you became talking about him at the end. I'm glad that he ended up with someone who was willing and able to put in the effort to help him. I got a heeler mix puppy earlier this year and she turns a year old in a few weeks, and sometimes I worry about her. Because of covid I wasn't able to socialize her as much as I wanted to and she's very reactive, especially around dogs and kids. I'm hoping that working with a trainer and her maturing will help, but she's already bitten a kid (who granted ran up to her without asking) so I can't help but worry about how she'll turn out.

My two newest ones were well socialized and were a year and a half when covid hit and I've noticed now that we haven't been socializing Clea is becoming very stand offish with people and other dogs on our walks. Her heckles go up almost automatically especially with kids so I know I need to do more training with her. I've told kids do not approach on our walks and they will still run at us so I understand those situations. Wishing you luck with the trainer and hope everything works out.

Lucian drew the line & said, "I'm gonna git you." It's actually admirable, but the world always twists it around on the animal, so they can charge you for it!
    Lucian's breed are extremely smart working dogs. They know how to discipline the sheep they work in the herding process. They quickly learn which sheep are knotty & out of line & then they fix the problem! That is all Lucian was doing when the boy shot him with a bebe...He was only doing his job! She also loves to walk with my middle son and has went with him and helped keep him safe (he is autistic and used to elope, basically he would run off). We had a heeler. Got him at the pound when he was a year old, he was the sweetest dog in the place. Got him home and he immediately chased our collie of his bed, establishing dominance. The neighbor kid and I were carrying on and buddy bit him on the leg. One winter another neighbor was skating on our pond, he grabbed his ankle and put him on the ice and proceeded to chew on his leg. Storms freaked him out, loud noises freaked him out and fast movements freaked him out. He chewed up our furniture once.
    We went to dinner one evening, it stormed while we were away, he grabbed on to the bottom of a hollow bedroom door and kept pulling on it till it came off the hinges and chewed it into smaller pieces. He attacked my chainsaw while I was running it, he attacked our rototiller, he attacked my buddies loud harley, just the tire, that one made me kinda laugh. My buddy didn't think it was funny.
    I built him a nice kennel outside and would put him in it when we'd go away for awhile, 5' high, he'd climb out over it, yep he'd jump as high as he could on the fence and climb the rest of the way out.
    After awhile we figured out the dos and don't. The last few years of his life we had some peace and quiet around the place, he was almost blind and deaf.

    We have two heelers and our younger one is similar to this. Though I will keep training and socializing him, we have accepted that he will never be a dog park dog. And that's ok. @@TheHeelerMama That's exactly what my stubborn cattle dog, Ringo, did when I tried that on him! I tried several collars and leashes, but he would always end up pulling me so hard he would gag himself.
      Then I bought 20 acres of mountain wilderness, and 2 years later we moved there when our house was built. He lived for weekends when we were getting the property ready for a house, but hated going back to the city. The day he realised we were there to stay, he was overjoyed! Never had any fences, except the corrals and pens for my goats. He was my shadow, so running away was never an issue. Without a leash, he walked right next to me, constantly bumping against my knee to make sure I knew where I was going! I had him 15 years and loved him so much.
      Tomorrow I'm bringing home a little blue heeler mix from the local pound. I'm not sure what possessed me to go to the pound a couple of days ago, but before I had the car parked, I already saw him... that perfect little blue heeler staring right into my soul!
      I swear, he looks like he might be mixed with coyote, but he was the only calm dog there not barking.
      The shelter folks say he's very shy, picked up as a stray but not aggressive. Ringo was the same way when I found him at a shelter 19 years ago. This guy's going to be a challenge, but I have the time and patience to work with him.
      Thank you for your excellent video. These dogs are very wonderful, but you're right, they're not for everyone! I think he will adapt here at the ranch. It's quiet, lots of space to run. I have a very smart 9 year old border collie who is bossy and I think he will help train the new guy and help teach him about goats. I just hope my goats don't think he's a coyote!

      @@TheHeelerMama I picked him up yesterday afternoon, and was a little concerned at first that maybe I made a mistake. I've never seen a more frightened dog! He wouldn't walk on a leash at all, he shivered and his eyes looked terrified. The shelter attendant had to carry him and put him in my backseat where he sat frozen in fear.
      I talked to him in a happy voice and told him about the cowboy poet/songwriter I named him after (Blaze Foley) and sang him my favorite Blaze song. I named him "Blaze" also because he's a blue, all black and grey except for his red eyebrows and red streaks like flames on the side of his face. I wish I could post a pic, he's so handsome!
      As we started up the mountain, I saw him change, he started looking out the windows and sniffing the smells from outside. 8 miles up, I turned on our road, and he got the wiggle butt (his tail is docked) and started licking my arm. Half an hour later, he was sitting in my 29 year old son's lap looking like the pup that won the doggy lottery!
      He's very sweet, but quirky. First thing he did when he got in his pen was take a huge dump, then he used his nose to completely cover it with the wood pellet litter from the dirt floor of the pen. I've never seen a dog do that! I hope he will teach my cats! What a good boy for not pooping in the car!
      He's not neutered yet, but I think he was definitely someone's pet, just not someone who cared enough to get him fixed and chipped.
      I just went to say good morning and got lots of kisses, I'll have to get used to wearing dog slobber! Not a problem! I'm kind of in love with my new guy.

      Heeler couldn’t care less about parks and other dogs. They need to move and are very happy to go for a walk for an hour with you. They usually like to swim in calm water especially love chasing sticks thrown and balls. They love to leap up and catch a ball often more than a metre off the ground. As long as they are touched, affectionately they are your protective friend for life. Don’t talk endlessly to the. No dog knows what a human is saying. Just give simple one word commands and when they mature, they love their tummy rubbed and lots of your touch, THEN you can talk nonsense baby talk! My Red Heeler is my devoted friend, companion and protector. Best watch dog in the world. They don’t like being crowded by other dogs at all. Better just with you. That is all they want, but will like certain of your friends or relations.

    My dog used to nip my ankles if he thought I was out of control. For example if we were running and he was done or if I was dancing wildly to music in my living room. It is sort of a nurturing thing in a way, at least from my dog. It wasn't an agression or fear thing, it was always a "hey, chill out" thing.
    I think the only reason why he hasn't nipped me in a while is he learned that nipping me is a no-no.

    I rescued a 6 month old feral Heeler that was hit by an 18 wheeler in front of my car. He recovered but did not recognize a food bowl, initially he kept trying to eat out of the garbage can! Apparently he had been eating off the street and had a scarred tongue. Turned out to be the best dog I could ever hope to have. All he wanted was a home and family and lived to be 20 years old. Several 10 mile mountain bike rides per week probably helped. He would nip my forearms but only while engaged in play. He never nipped anyone else.

Squirrels, birds, a new kitten, she loves them all. My Border Collie however, she doesn't like the kitten and harrases the chickens on occasion. The chickens and kitten will peck at or surprise attack the Cane Corso and she will simply look at them and go into play stance...

      I’m so glad I found this. Mine is so smart and wants to make me happy…and just when I think he’s perfect, his behavior changes. And there’s never a reason. So, I guess they’re just unpredictable? Like, he loved going to the dig park, and was sooo good with other dogs but only wants to play wrestle but so many dogs out there are so timid so they’re owners would think my dog is being aggressive but he wasn’t. He never brought out his teeth or got aggressive…he actually would submit. Then one day this guy brings his tiny puppy to the large dog section of the dog park - she’d Yelp and run even if a dog passed by her. Well, suddenly my dog WAS aggressive and would chase her and bark and attack her…and he’s always been gentle with female dogs! Ever since then, every time I’ve taken him to the park, he’s been aggressive! Like suddenly he’s an aggressive dog! What the heck! And now he’s an annoying barker - where, before he only barked if he heard a stranger. I don’t know if that tiny puppy triggered him or scratched him but he’s never been the same since. I’m so sad. Now I’m always anxious taking him in public bc I’m worried that his behavior is unpredictable and may need to fork out money for a trainer bc I can’t keep him at home and need the park to give him the exercise he needs so he doesn’t dig up the backyard!

    I have had auzzie shepherds, border collies, mixes and then 13 years ago adopted a Blue Heeler from a neighbor from a neighbor because she said he was too much for her. 3 yrs. he died & I was devastated, so got from a shelter another Blue Heeler, Pep (2 1/2yrs), who iis very similar to Lucien in looks & actions. When I got him he was very low key & had wary eyes. He immediately disliked my husband, who was not active, suffering from throat cancer. Pep hated men, especially those with work boots! He even went after a couple of women friends who had boots on. Like Lucien, I had a couple of legal actions with him. The first was when he ran down to the road below my house (I live on a private road in a rural area) and nipped a neighbor's heels but caught the flip flop sandals. They reported it to animal control. So I had to create a very strong fenced kennel & in Pep's case with a fence 6+ ft tall because he could at that time go over anything lower. His "prison" time was 3 years. I took him with me everywhere.A male friend who loved dogs adored Pep & got him used to men even with boots on. Then one fateful day I was doing an event & had Pep leashed to a fence away from the action. There were a lot of kids around who petted him. However one 5/6 year old boy, after I had told him not to go near Pep while was gone, did and teased, so that Pep bit his ankle! The kid, a mother's boy, yelled bloody murder and stopped the activity. Although it was a superficial bite on the kid's heel that cleaning with alcohol of hydrogen peroxide would have been good, she took him to emergency care that then had to report it to the county where I live. So, I was back in court with the 2nd strike. I had to pay the fines, Pep had to go back to "prison" & I was told I had to go to jail! Fortunately, my son is a DA investigator in the county I live and he found the jail part was a huge error!

      I'm so sorry you had to go through all that. One thing that really ticks me off is when you tell people or kids not to do something and they do it anyway and then we get the blame for their actions. How are things now with Pep?

    I’ve had many heelers some from pups and some just dropped of at the cattle farm I was living on. They definitely thrive best when they have the room to move and explore. Never caged them they learnt to stay near the house or in ear shot if called. Loved rounding up cattle for the stock yards. If they messed up they’d get sent to the back of the Ute and weren’t allowed off. Their ears and head would go down as they walked to the Ute and got up. Sounds like Lucien is constantly looking for work to do. Mental exercises are good.

My grandparents were afraid of an incident where he might bite someone and be put down so they sent him to Arizona with us. At first he was still a bit crazy, bit me a few times and gave me some nice scars, but now he's calmed down quite a bit. I can actually pet him without him lunging at my hands and ankles. My heeler has been a hell baby since day 1 ( I say that with love lol). He was so easily trained and behaves like an angel at training or out in public on his leash. The most problems we have with him are at home. We also had an incident with a neighbor kid. He was on his bike and our boy here went for the wheels (herding). The dad flipped out on us about it and basically threatened us even though our dog didn't even touch his kid since he did a complete 180 back to us immediately when called. I understand and would also have been upset, but I do think he blew it out of proportion seeing as nothing had ever happened before and nothing even happened then. It's something thats hard to address in training too, because he's a model student. He definitely keeps us on our toes!

    I had a texas heeler for 13 .5 years. He was the colouring of a speckled heeler, with the longer fluffy coat of an australian shepherd. He was so good with people, men, women, old, and young, even infants that step on his tail, or pull his ears. Any stranger could walk up to him and pet him. He was a fearless dog. He could also be left at home all day, while I was at work, and he never destroyed anything in our house. He did also have two undesirable traits:
    1) He would also go after certain other dogs large dogs that were dominant/aggressive in their body language.
    2) he had a lot of prey drive, and would go after any squirrel, skunk, raccoon, cat, chicken, duck, deer, or coyote. He killed a skunk in our yard, and also several rats.
    These behaviours are completely genetic, I believe. Both the liking of all people, and the prey drive. No amount of exercise or training completely eliminated these behaviours. It's in their DNA, and the best you can do is manage it through training or other methods. In the city, unless we were in our yard, or a trail far away from roads or cars, our dog was always on leash. You can also carefully choose your dog from parents that have desirable temperaments, be selective of which puppy you choose from a litter, and socialize the dog well from an early age.

    love my red heeler "ginger" she is so sweet and yes very much a Velcro dog and very protective of the family. The biggest thing to remember is to keep this breed active.
    you have to engage their mind and give them something to do. this breed is not a couch potato .i set up a chase system with pulleys in my yard to wear her out .

      That's actually a really good idea with the pulleys! Would give me a break from throwing or kicking the ball lol even after a hike mine are still like 'what's next?' 😊

    I have a Texas heeler. His name is Rowdy. I’ve had a lot of dogs over my 44 years on this Earth however none have been as smart as Rowdy! I got him when he was 3 months old and he is 5 months old now. He had two accidents in the house when I first got him but hasn’t used it in the house again since. He loves to fetch, he sits on call and loves to follow me thru the mountains. I’m still having trouble with stay, lay and down. He’s still teething and the biting is aweful. He keeps everything ran out of the yard but when we go places he loves playing with other dogs. I have two goats for him to herd and will have a few cow soon. Best all around breed I’ve ever owned and I’ve had Rottweilers, Red Doberman, Walkers, Redbones, Pits and still have a 14 year old daushound! None of them compare to Rowdy intelligence and willingness to do a job!

    I a ranchers daughter. We've had 2 different male heelers, you had to be very careful around them. They were aggressive but they were sneaky. They'd get you from behind if you weren't paying attention.

      Yes, they get rewarded for chasing and nipping ,so where to aspect any difference, only the kind ones know better. Usually the kind ones were raised kindly. Some want to please.

    My heeler bit a kid when he was a pup. Kid was in a Batman costume and was running and screaming. Still got written up by the county. Took a few years til I felt totally comfortable with him around almost anyone; still watch him close or put him away when young children are around. To anyone thinking they want a Heeler just know the first few years is a full time job or else your dog will be off the wall. But I can’t imagine life without my Red Boy.

      It took us a long time to get Lu to a good place too. He ended up doing really well in many situations but I was always watchful of him as well. I would give anything to have him back with us. I agree completely. I always tell people you have to get through the first 2 years and the training and they are amazing.

    Mine just passed this year , she been with me for 13 years , she was extremely protective and close to me , when i used to go out she wouldn't eat or even drink water until i was at home , she used to poke me to go to bed so she would sleep on her bed that was next to my bed , my dad or my girlfriend couldn't even touch me that she would jump in and get in between , i never got to train her sadly but she always did obey and listen to my calls without me having to say twice , i can say Heelers are very special.
