Can you believe there are 23 people that don't like this beautiful song? The poetic lyrics, smooth harmony and the slow rhythmic music are both timeless and classic.
One of my favorites by the great Peter Gabriel. I think my all time favorite is Games Without Frontiers. Kate Bush sang backup - that's her singing "Jeux Sans Fronteires."
@@auntiedoodles6898 Unfortunately, I recently found out that Anne Sexton was physically violent to her husband and two daughters, and sexually abused her elder daughter. Now I can't listen to this song anymore, I just feel so sickened. 😿 (To be fair, Peter Gabriel would not have known about these horrific revelations at the time of writing and releasing this song, as Diane Middlebrook's biography of Sexton, and daughter Linda Gray Sexton's own autobiography, came out in the '90s.)
(Wear) your inside out. It speaks of bearing your soul, vulnerability, your child like character and your true beauty inside outside with those you love most. Some have this. Not everyone is capable of doing it. Those are called the emotionally crippled.
Sabe disso. Um dia descansa.
Is the line "of kissing Mary's lips" a reference to the blessed Virgin Mary--? And does the Anne mentioned at the end of the song refer to Saint Anne--?
Master piece of art.

Is the line "of kissing Mary's lips" a reference to the blessed Virgin Mary--? And does the Anne mentioned at the end of the song refer to Saint Anne--?
It is actually referring to the author of the poem 45 Mercy street, which is what Peter Gabriel based this song on.
