I'm a 56 year old man , and Peter Gabriel's songs still bring tears to my eyes.I've never been to any church where the music could put me as close to The Spirit as this man's compositions.I think he is a foretaste of the music that must fill Heaven( which,by the way,is an ocean).
Peter Gabriel is the single greatest "Rock" artist whose career started in the 1960's to still be relevant today (Sorry...Paul McCartney, Robert Plant and Neil Young). The fact that he is not in the Hall of Fame is a joke. His career had easily eclipsed his time in Genesis. He is a true "Artist", he writes, plays multiple instruments, produces, contrives theatrical performances and is unique in so many ways. Watch this concert from beginning to end.it is masterful. No one out there can touch it.
I was in a devastating. life shattering car wreck. when I was finally able - this song made me inspired to work my ass off. I was told I'd never walk again..... 95% back to normal! thank u
Peter Gabriel still has that signature sound all his own. You can always tell it's a Peter Gabriel composition, and performance. The harmonies were captivating.
Jesus. I was 12 at the time of this concert. I think I could easily repeat my adolescence just to be there. What a moving and truly beautiful song. Only Peter Gabriel ;)
Probably the live version I prefer all among the others. I got goose bumps, can't moove, only my ears. Peter is like a good wine : older, better. Thank you so mutch...
Today, being halfway across the world, I had received word of a loved one who had died and I am not able to either attend the funeral or provide support to my family, but this song is what keeps me going. Thank you Peter Gabriel, thank you Anne Sexton, this is so beautiful. Thank you
Questa canzone mi entrò nelle ossa e nelle vene da adolescente, sono passati tanti anni ed è sempre un brivido.. 19 anni fa ero lì, sotto il palco e il prossimo anno, dopo 20 anni, sarò ancora lì ❤
What Peter is so gifted is that he promotes otherwise (perhaps) unknown artist into mainstream. OK, I admit I personally don't know some of these fabulous artists, but they are incredible. Again, I must say that those who vote "thumbs down"need to just stay away!
Brilliant ...Brilliant .Brilliant!........This world will never see a man so talented like Peter Gabriel again........Enjoy all of his magical creations ........Thank you Peter!
Haha - great comment. The fact that he's been doing this at a consistent, amazing level since pre-1972 is astounding. Peter Gabriel is one of those artists that are a true gift for anyone that loves great music.
It never fails to make me scratch my head in wonder why people who don't like this kind of music can't just move on and not leave obnoxious comments and/or click dislike. To the 11 music haters that clicked dislike..go away, you won't be missed.
@MrFbcvideo Spot on. Reminds me of when my son was little + I used to pick him up + hug him. He's grown up + a soldier now. When he went to Afghan I used to play this song a lot. Brought tears to my eyes.
He is my of my favourite artists...Poetic & artistic. This is a favourite of mine. It's so full of longing and yearning. I love the sensual aspects of this story.
now this is the best of his entire repertoire, give me the bumps every time i lsten to it, and i cant imagine a way to improve this. i love those final words: "out with the father his out in the boat, riding the water, riding the waves on the sea" Deep as the soul.
Extraordinary. I just have a dream: geNEsis with Phil, peter, mike, steve and Tony.... too much talent together???!!!!! The best for music, I think! Thanks for this incredible SONG!!
May dad would have been 63 today, lost him 16 years ago. I know what Sexton's poems meant to her, but I also know what this song means to me. He drowned on a pretty day in March and in many ways he had it all together. He lost control of a boat and by some miracle, my mother lived. I nearly went along that day. I often regret that I didn't, because maybe the outcome would have been different; maybe I'd have drowned with him or died in his place or saved him as he had done me so many times.
I love it. Its 2 o´clock in the night and i keep listening and keep switching between this one and here comes the flood. I had to cry two times but i can´t stop watching. Its so beautifull and reminds me when i listen to the songs as a child with my father. Just love it !
Stand-out track from an awesome DVD, if you don't have it I firmly urge to to put it on your Christmas present list...you won't regret it, I promise. The harmonies are outstanding here but the whole of the DVD is excellent from beginning to end (plus you get the additional bonus of seeing the lovely Melanie!).
Oh my godness, that is incredible, mindblowing. This song is one of the most beautiful things i've ever seen, heard or felt in my whole life Sorry for my bad English, that isn't my native language. But I think that its not enough words in any language to describe this song
i had the tape of this album when i was a kid and i remember just listening to this amazing song...now it reminds me of when i was younger, when life was just so simple and beautiful
this is an amazing and deep song!!! Touches our souls. I liked in special ther part that show a man on public...singing " in your dad´s arms"...Almost cried!!!!!
Não dá para acreditar que exitem 19 pessoas que não gostaram dessa musica. O que ela passa é a pura PAZ DE ESPÍRITO. ( I can not believe that there are 19 people who did not like this music. What it is is pure PEACE OF MIND. )
Absolutely marvellous, exquisite and deeply captivating. Nothing less than this. This video right here is what I call making music and giving a performance.
20 years later and still amazing.

KEEP IT UP RICHIE!! BLESS YOU & IF ANY SONG WILL GET YOU THERE - IT'S "MERCY STREET!!!" 💖🙏🏼💫💯🤞🤞🤞
You're not a Gabriel fan unless this song, and certainly this performance, evokes goosebumps. It is so damn good.
The best version of this song and the best peter gabriel song.
Peter Gabriel= one of the best songwriters ever!
Incredible... Closed my eyes, had an "out of body" experience, and tears welled up and began to run down my face. Whewww...
Peter Gabriel still has that signature sound all his own. You can always tell it's a Peter Gabriel composition, and performance. The harmonies were captivating.
I cannot think of any word to describe how I feel when I listen to PG's music except " perfection " maybe ...
This song speaks to my heart. Peter Gabriel is a performer who releases albums & you enjoy the whole album. Thats ole school !!!!
Menschen können so wunderbare Sachen machen! PERFECT !!!!!
Haunting and beautiful song that gives me peace. Love the fact that his daughter is on stage with him too.
which one is his daughter
Melanie Gabriel
"which one is his daughter"
One of the one's that's not a male! :-)
One direction
I believe it's the one who gets into the boat
Peter has one of the (possibly THE) most distinguishingly glorious voices i've EVER heard!
Jesus. I was 12 at the time of this concert. I think I could easily repeat my adolescence just to be there. What a moving and truly beautiful song. Only Peter Gabriel ;)
Isso que é música pra se ouvir! Quem em 2020 mês de abril do sofrido/corona...na curtição entre 4 paredes? Fé Venceremos!!! Deus é MAIS! Seu Like.
Probably the live version I prefer all among the others. I got goose bumps, can't moove, only my ears. Peter is like a good wine : older, better. Thank you so mutch...
Il più bel concerto della mia vita.. io c'ero... Meraviglioso, nostalgia fino alle lacrime.. stupendo
Today, being halfway across the world, I had received word of a loved one who had died and I am not able to either attend the funeral or provide support to my family, but this song is what keeps me going. Thank you Peter Gabriel, thank you Anne Sexton, this is so beautiful. Thank you
I remember listening to this song at 9 years old and I kept crying because it was so beautiful. I still feel the same way today.
she pictures the broken glass, she pictures the steam
she pictures a soul ..with no leak at the seam
take care soul-friend and thank you for this
Questa canzone mi entrò nelle ossa e nelle vene da adolescente, sono passati tanti anni ed è sempre un brivido.. 19 anni fa ero lì, sotto il palco e il prossimo anno, dopo 20 anni, sarò ancora lì ❤
I want to know how I lived 55 years and never got turned on to this man until now???
This song is so ethereal...so other-worldly...I'm amazed at the texture and ambience that PG is able to achieve with everything about this song
I remember listening to this in my dorm room many times after buying the album "So" in 1999. It helped me get through my loneliness in that place.
One of the most extraordinary artist of our time. Long live Peter Gabriel!!!
How could any sane person with hearing give this a thumbs down? WTF? This song is Beauty incarnate!
my wife has fallen in love with this song its so haunting pure class
oh frig, this is just the epitome of music. the acapella, the intro of the instruments, the whole thing.
What Peter is so gifted is that he promotes otherwise (perhaps) unknown artist into mainstream. OK, I admit I personally don't know some of these fabulous artists, but they are incredible. Again, I must say that those who vote "thumbs down"need to just stay away!
He has succesfully included his daughter in most of this tour. I think that's great.
That flute makes the whole song come alive.
Peter's the greatest. :D
The world loves Peter Gabriel. Just heard a "new" CD is coming. His covers of songs--no guitars or drums. Looking forward to listening.
Grandiozno!!! Gandioznoe show, potryasayushaya postanovka, genialniy Gabriel. Golos, muzika, slova!!! Love him forever!!!!
Brilliant ...Brilliant .Brilliant!........This world will never see a man so talented like Peter Gabriel again........Enjoy all of his magical creations ........Thank you Peter!
Not much can be said of Mr. Gabriel but BRILLIANT. Happy to have been young in time when music was music
I don't care who inspired this song. Because Peter Gabriel makes it magic!
Never heard it better. The acapella intro is breathtaking and cuts my throut. Brilliant version of a brilliant song.
Everytime i listen this song i'm driven to tears. Is really an amazing song. No more words can explain it!

The fact that he's been doing this at a consistent, amazing level since pre-1972 is astounding. Peter Gabriel is one of those artists that are a true gift for anyone that loves great music.
truly one of the great musical geniuses of our time.
I always get teary when I listen to this ! Peter Gabriel is with the angels sometimes !
whats so great about Peter Gabriel is that he sounds the same live as on the recordings .. unlike newer so called singers
It never fails to make me scratch my head in wonder why people who don't like this kind of music can't just move on and not leave obnoxious comments and/or click dislike. To the 11 music haters that clicked dislike..go away, you won't be missed.
This has to be one of my absolute favourites. Long live Peter Gabriel!

So much emotion....it just leaves you speechless and the tears running down say it all.....
Seeing him is number one on my bucket list. I keep my fingers crossed...

One of his greatest songs, I love this performance. Seems like there are 20 people who are very difficult to please.
I love it. Its 2 o´clock in the night and i keep listening and keep switching between this one and here comes the flood. I had to cry two times but i can´t stop watching. Its so beautifull and reminds me when i listen to the songs as a child with my father. Just love it !

Man I love that flute part. I love it all, but I LOVE that flute part.

Quando la musica e le parole diventano incanto!
I'm starting to love his daughters voice. There are moments when she is carrying a line, and I can really tell she's got her Dad's genes.
Most beautiful song I ever heard...... awesome
Peter, the days have been so much for you. We miss you old friend. still, and still.
