I was in a devastating. life shattering car wreck. when I was finally able - this song made me inspired to work my ass off. I was told I'd never walk again..... 95% back to normal! thank u
Peter Gabriel is the single greatest "Rock" artist whose career started in the 1960's to still be relevant today (Sorry...Paul McCartney, Robert Plant and Neil Young). The fact that he is not in the Hall of Fame is a joke. His career had easily eclipsed his time in Genesis. He is a true "Artist", he writes, plays multiple instruments, produces, contrives theatrical performances and is unique in so many ways. Watch this concert from beginning to end.it is masterful. No one out there can touch it.
I'm a 56 year old man , and Peter Gabriel's songs still bring tears to my eyes.I've never been to any church where the music could put me as close to The Spirit as this man's compositions.I think he is a foretaste of the music that must fill Heaven( which,by the way,is an ocean).
@MrFbcvideo Spot on. Reminds me of when my son was little + I used to pick him up + hug him. He's grown up + a soldier now. When he went to Afghan I used to play this song a lot. Brought tears to my eyes.
Peter Gabriel still has that signature sound all his own. You can always tell it's a Peter Gabriel composition, and performance. The harmonies were captivating.
Jesus. I was 12 at the time of this concert. I think I could easily repeat my adolescence just to be there. What a moving and truly beautiful song. Only Peter Gabriel ;)
May dad would have been 63 today, lost him 16 years ago. I know what Sexton's poems meant to her, but I also know what this song means to me. He drowned on a pretty day in March and in many ways he had it all together. He lost control of a boat and by some miracle, my mother lived. I nearly went along that day. I often regret that I didn't, because maybe the outcome would have been different; maybe I'd have drowned with him or died in his place or saved him as he had done me so many times.
Probably the live version I prefer all among the others. I got goose bumps, can't moove, only my ears. Peter is like a good wine : older, better. Thank you so mutch...
Brilliant ...Brilliant .Brilliant!........This world will never see a man so talented like Peter Gabriel again........Enjoy all of his magical creations ........Thank you Peter!
Oh my godness, that is incredible, mindblowing. This song is one of the most beautiful things i've ever seen, heard or felt in my whole life Sorry for my bad English, that isn't my native language. But I think that its not enough words in any language to describe this song
Today, being halfway across the world, I had received word of a loved one who had died and I am not able to either attend the funeral or provide support to my family, but this song is what keeps me going. Thank you Peter Gabriel, thank you Anne Sexton, this is so beautiful. Thank you
What Peter is so gifted is that he promotes otherwise (perhaps) unknown artist into mainstream. OK, I admit I personally don't know some of these fabulous artists, but they are incredible. Again, I must say that those who vote "thumbs down"need to just stay away!
Haha - great comment. The fact that he's been doing this at a consistent, amazing level since pre-1972 is astounding. Peter Gabriel is one of those artists that are a true gift for anyone that loves great music.
It never fails to make me scratch my head in wonder why people who don't like this kind of music can't just move on and not leave obnoxious comments and/or click dislike. To the 11 music haters that clicked dislike..go away, you won't be missed.
Excerpts from Anne Sexton's poem 45 MERCY STREET In my dream, drilling into the marrow of my entire bone, my real dream, I'm walking up and down Beacon Hill searching for a street sign - namely MERCY STREET. Not there.
now this is the best of his entire repertoire, give me the bumps every time i lsten to it, and i cant imagine a way to improve this. i love those final words: "out with the father his out in the boat, riding the water, riding the waves on the sea" Deep as the soul.
I love it. Its 2 o´clock in the night and i keep listening and keep switching between this one and here comes the flood. I had to cry two times but i can´t stop watching. Its so beautifull and reminds me when i listen to the songs as a child with my father. Just love it !
I was in a devastating. life shattering car wreck. when I was finally able - this song made me inspired to work my ass off. I was told I'd never walk again..... 95% back to normal! thank u
Congratulations! That's wonderful! :)
Happy to hear that man, keep working on it :)
KEEP IT UP RICHIE!! BLESS YOU & IF ANY SONG WILL GET YOU THERE - IT'S "MERCY STREET!!!" 💖🙏🏼💫💯🤞🤞🤞

whats so great about Peter Gabriel is that he sounds the same live as on the recordings .. unlike newer so called singers
The best version of this song and the best peter gabriel song.
The world loves Peter Gabriel. Just heard a "new" CD is coming. His covers of songs--no guitars or drums. Looking forward to listening.
20 years later and still amazing.
If I ever die.... I want this to be sung at my funeral.
Il più bel concerto della mia vita.. io c'ero... Meraviglioso, nostalgia fino alle lacrime.. stupendo
@MrFbcvideo Spot on. Reminds me of when my son was little + I used to pick him up + hug him. He's grown up + a soldier now. When he went to Afghan I used to play this song a lot. Brought tears to my eyes.
Incredible... Closed my eyes, had an "out of body" experience, and tears welled up and began to run down my face. Whewww...
Let's take the boat out

One of my favorite artists. Loved what he did in Genesis and love what he did after that even more.....
Peter Gabriel still has that signature sound all his own. You can always tell it's a Peter Gabriel composition, and performance. The harmonies were captivating.

Peter has one of the (possibly THE) most distinguishingly glorious voices i've EVER heard!
This song has been with me since 1986..

Beautiful humans in harmony. Perfection.
I have had the pleasure of seeing Peter Gabriel live a couple of times, and I recommend it. It really is as good as this great song shows! :D
This song is so ethereal...so other-worldly...I'm amazed at the texture and ambience that PG is able to achieve with everything about this song
Love the blue light and the acapella beginning.
I was 3 years old in 2003 when this concert was.
This has to be one of my absolute favourites. Long live Peter Gabriel!
Probably the live version I prefer all among the others. I got goose bumps, can't moove, only my ears. Peter is like a good wine : older, better. Thank you so mutch...

He has succesfully included his daughter in most of this tour. I think that's great.
Haha - great comment.
The fact that he's been doing this at a consistent, amazing level since pre-1972 is astounding. Peter Gabriel is one of those artists that are a true gift for anyone that loves great music.

Excerpts from Anne Sexton's poem
45 MERCY STREET
In my dream,
drilling into the marrow
of my entire bone,
my real dream,
I'm walking up and down Beacon Hill
searching for a street sign -
namely MERCY STREET.
Not there.
Peter Gabrielle has a timeless voice and I think "mercy street" is a beautiful song especially the live version
Makes my the hairs stand on my neck and arms every time. Such a beautiful song and perfectly played. Brings me peace.
One of his greatest songs, I love this performance. Seems like there are 20 people who are very difficult to please.
This is the true definition of a masterpiece.
now this is the best of his entire repertoire, give me the bumps every time i lsten to it, and i cant imagine a way to improve this. i love those final words: "out with the father his out in the boat, riding the water, riding the waves on the sea" Deep as the soul.
The DVD is the BEST Music DVD i have ever seen, beside PULSE from Pink Floyd. I love both of them. It's amazing!
I love it. Its 2 o´clock in the night and i keep listening and keep switching between this one and here comes the flood. I had to cry two times but i can´t stop watching. Its so beautifull and reminds me when i listen to the songs as a child with my father. Just love it !
Simply stunning!
