This is where we're at: Video Games are telling intricate, compelling, heartfelt stories.....and the movies are rebooting Charlies Angels again. I'm only halfway thru this game. One of the best stories of 2019 for me. The Witcher adaptation being another
There are still some great movies being made. Off the top of my head, 1917 and Parasite, yes they were Oscar winners but they genuinely deserved it. Truly well written, thought provoking movies, one simpler than the other but great nonetheless. Honestly, I could list a ton of recommendations, but they point is, all hope is not lost for the film industry or storytelling media in general, just keep an eye out. Also I would list Game of Thrones, if I could erase that last season.
Exactly, this is why companies like Rockstar need to exist. They understand that telling a story in a video game is not a limitation, but an addition to creative liberation. That's why they don't make movies based on their games. Because why would they?
You can’t beat the storyline, never played a game that had so much emotion and put you directly in their shoes like this game. GTA has been fun, but this is way better.
man i forgot how emotional some parts of this game made me. especially arthur talking to the nun about how he regrets the life he's lived. probably the best video game character ever.
Agree best game character I’ve ever played as. You are just rooting for him so much and sometimes you can’t explain. I said to my Girlfriend that Arthur could do nearly anything and I’d follow him cause he’s a good man at heart and will protect those he cares about.
Of all the games I had played, from God of War, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, Detroit Become Human, and much, much more, none of the have bested Red Dead Redemption 2 in my eyes.
Boohoo God Of War still won GOTY 2018 because it played better than RDR2, while still keeping the movie style story telling. BOTW is even better and more impactful to its genre than RDR2. A good story means nothing without good gameplay, and unfortunately RDR2's feels outdated.
Wow. This hit me in the feels. How Arthur just thinks he’s only good for one thing, killing, hurting, and bringing pain. How he almost doesn’t care about himself. Just, wow...
I feel like they probably would have if Fox didn’t use it in the Logan trailer first. Before you know it, every deep, meaningful game or film will be using it. It’s a good song, best not over saturate it if you know what I mean.
P1k3l U.O.A 1)they has all the time in the world, not limited time like works commissioned by third parties. 2) free use of any fucking song you want without paying (i mean its fucking HURT) 3)I know you were asking a rethorical question, but what you suggested is straight up not true. The original trailer of red dead redemption 2 was fucking epic. "You gotta love yourself a fire."
@@CenoriaWoah well from what I gathered the gang used to be a robin hood type. So in that since, there'd be quite a few members of the lower class that would have appreciated their presence.
My favourite line is "I got some people I need to take of." Which to me it is really mainly aimed at John, Abigail and Jack also aimed at Agent Milton because by taking care of him he means killing him to protect John, Abigail and Jack

I’m on my 2nd gameplay and I did everything I could do as Arthur. From chapters2-6 I hunted and skinned to upgrade the camp and my satchels, I did everything I could. I did all of the requests, hunted every legendary beast that was available, tamed the legendary Arabian horse, and completed as many of the challenges I could within the many months. In chapter 6 after watching Arthur lose and gain a friend I was ready to face it. To see this sinful bad man die as a better person. I’m now playing as John Marston, I’m 97% close to completion. It’s almost time for me to put my controller down and say my good byes to a beautifully tragic story.
I haven't completed most of the side activities since Arther Died. I think I'll restart the game and do every god damn thing before the final story mission.
We got Red Dead Redemption 1 with the ending of the whole story, and then we got the prequel in Red Dead Redemption 2, and now we need a damn prequel of the prequel because we need to know what happened in Blackwater, the rivalry of Dutch and Colm, and the earliest days of the Dutch Van Der Linde gang. In a slightly more civilized tone and manner. Rockstar needs to use the noise and muneh they made off this gold score to rob one last train to Tahiti so we can all finally farm some mangoes and die happy, and we just need to have some god, damn, FAITH, that they will stick to the plan...
Imagine a prequel TV serie of the games with that story, starting with the beginnings of the gang and ending the series with the Blackwather Bank fail strike.
In all of my 19 years of gaming, this is ended up being the game which I loved so much because RDR 2 is truly a masterpiece that had me connected to the protagonist more than I thought I would.

@@ezwar99 they can't copyright a style of trailer. Every line was the games and every clip used gameplay and cutscenes. They could aren't too but very likely would not win. Plus what use would they have to sue now that the movies been out for a while and they've got their money.

Red Dead Redemption is a story of love, family and loss. But that loss is through love and family. The true redemption in both of these games is coming to the realization that you can do better than before. John Marston on the farm, and Arthur and his TB. They were both taught to live, live without guilt. That is why Arthur helped those so many people. Strauss claimed that the sick become delusional, but Arthur was not delusional. He was true.
I have never played a game where I was fully invested into a character like RDR2.. at the beginning I didn't know if I would like Arthur. But god dammit if he didn't grow on me. The most loyal cowboy ever. He had faith! His character development couldn't have been ANY better. Made me so emotional to watch him slowly get sicker and sicker and play as him the whole time he was progressively getting worse. Thank you Rockstar.
@@weliveinasociety1931 yes I try to shoot the eagle it didn't let me so that must've been Arthur in low honor he has two spirit animals like he does in high honor, high honor he has eagle and buck as his honorable spirit animals, low honor his spirit animals are wolf and coyate but you don't see the wolf animal in the scenes or when you go pay respects or that mission where you go to the doctor and he's explains to you that you have TB, you mostly see the coyate and high mostly you see the buck in every scene and that mission where you go to the doctor but you don't see the eagle until you pay respects so matter what you won't able to find his second spirit animal wolf it's some how lost in the game.
This game really touched me. People can change man. Sometimes for the good and sometimes for the worse. “I guess we gotta pay for our sins” Thank you, Arthur.
my favorite alcoholic once said, "Sometimes men change for the better. Sometimes men change for the worse. And often, very often, given time and opportunity . . .' He waved his flask around for a moment, then shrugged. 'They change back.”
Why didn't Rockstar go with this approach... I mean, Arthur Morgan makes such a lovable character, 99% of the people who played this game, played for experiencing his side of life. Great work man, just... Stunning.
I think the thing that’s sets this fan trailer apart from others is a really great sense of when to include dialogue and almost more importantly. Having the restraint to know when to leave it out. I feel like a lot of people would’ve used Dutch’s line of dialogue from 0:30 “wake em up a little!” Or something to that effect. Which is a great line and even better in the right moment. But you kept it sparse which made each line feel reasonably more meaningful.
Of course Logan is a western. Old gunslinger who doesn't kill people anymore unless he has to. Doesn't want to be recognized but does it to care for someone he loves. Tasked with caring for someone and get them somewhere far where it's dangerous getting there. Bad guy on their trail. Signs of old west tales.
also, the little deadpool scene we saw right before the Logan movie in the theatres had the image of the tv show Firefly which was a sci-fi western. Just another clue that Logan is a western. I think it's the only superhero movie my Grandpa will really enjoy, because he's a Western fanatic.
MrIrishMC SSS how so? He has to survive by any means, even if it means to kill or steal, he can be good if you want him to be or can be bad if you want him to be, however, it’s not his fault all the way, it’s mostly Micah’s and Dutch’s fault for their gang affiliation.
I’ve completed the game 11 times and all the feelings of every piece of dialogue every cinematic scene every death every discovery every loss but goddamn it’s amazing
"I want you to imagine this for a moment. Arthur joining Hosea and Lenny in a big tavern in the sky. They rejoice when they see each other once again. They talk about the good old times and how bad things use to be in the way back when. They sing, they dance, they drink until the years feel like they have flown by. All of a sudden they see the tavern door swing open once again. They see John walk in and remove the hat that Arthur gave him all those years ago. Silence falls under the tavern for the first time in years. The group stands to their feet to meet him in sorrow. "I tried guys." John says. Arthur places a hand on John's shoulder and utters the only thing honest enough. "We all did son... Now give me that damn hat back and grab a beer.'" TH-cam user - Unlimited Power. (Written from momory, not exact)
Speaking of heaven and hell. To understand salvation a little better regarding our actions here on Earth we have to take a look at King David. David was a hero at times, like Arthor. He was a warrior like Arthor. He was at tines a good man, like Arthur. But he was also a murderer, like Arthor. David sent a man as the king to the front lines of his war campaign with the intent he'd die so he could marry his wife that he coveted. Eventually, he was visited by a friend and prophet who confronted him. David repented and as such he was forgiven, but not without punishment. The Bible says that David was God's annointed. That God saw David's heart like his own. Meaning that God can see our hearts and who we are. I mean really see who we actually are. As humans we can only see our actions here on Earth as judge one another by them. But God can see past the products of our edvironment. He can see past the abuse that led us down a path of violence. He can see past the grief that turned us to alcohol. So to me, fictional character or not, I can see how Arthor Morgan could be in heaven. And how each person he killed and wronged stop in for drinks every once and a while to laugh about their time on Earth.

Hey Lamar what’s up?
This is where we're at: Video Games are telling intricate, compelling, heartfelt stories.....and the movies are rebooting Charlies Angels again. I'm only halfway thru this game. One of the best stories of 2019 for me. The Witcher adaptation being another
Guy Person Couldn’t agree more.
GTA has been fun, but this is way better.
rdr 2 is the best 5 star story line drive at its best
Definitely the most story and character driven game I have ever played.

man i forgot how emotional some parts of this game made me. especially arthur talking to the nun about how he regrets the life he's lived. probably the best video game character ever.
I cried at both games Detroit become human and rd2
@@nv_51 detroit become human is decent but the androids' civil rights movement bullshit was corny as hell
@@sanawon404 didn’t see it as corny at all, you’re probably in the minority
Boohoo God Of War still won GOTY 2018 because it played better than RDR2, while still keeping the movie style story telling. BOTW is even better and more impactful to its genre than RDR2. A good story means nothing without good gameplay, and unfortunately RDR2's feels outdated.

In a slightly more civilized tone and manner. Rockstar needs to use the noise and muneh they made off this gold score to rob one last train to Tahiti so we can all finally farm some mangoes and die happy, and we just need to have some god, damn, FAITH, that they will stick to the plan...

Had to like for that “MORGAN” at the end
Proof that Logan is a western

All of a sudden they see the tavern door swing open once again. They see John walk in and remove the hat that Arthur gave him all those years ago. Silence falls under the tavern for the first time in years. The group stands to their feet to meet him in sorrow. "I tried guys." John says. They may live on
They probably in hell. They killed so many innocent people.
