just now discovered it: fantastic! that's a spirit rarely captured in a tribute ... and what great musicians ... Terri Lyne is superb! thx a lot! emergency saved my musical life at the time
Just amazing line up on this long hr-Bigband feature. Subscribe and you won't be disappointed. And yes this writer still has the early Tony Williams vinyls. Bless you Tony for your gifts!
Did Lifetime ever perform "There Comes a Time"? The only other version I've heard was arranged & performed by Gil Evans, with Gil on keyboards, Tony on drums, & Ryo Kawasaki on guitar. I like this (HRBB) version - swingier & jazzier than Gil's more avant-garde arrangemnet (which I also like).
Ich sitze vor meiner Stereoanlage und staune über den satten Sound! 😊
yes terri lyne carrington!
What a stunning, appropriate, dedicated tribte to Tony Williams.... and I am thrilled to see Carrington at the drums.... 100 stars.....
Bellissimo,grazie!
Carrington and Medeski!?! What a combo.

Great tribute! Big Band Tony! Don't miss the Cindy Blackman Tony tribute albums, too: Spectrum and Another Lifetime. Both feature Medeski on organ.

There are several live recordings of this tune by various TW bands.
what scales/modes is guitarist using on emergency
chromatic
first minute and the like button was being massacrated
Awesome, but the guitarist butchered "where"
I found him absolutely inspiring, but what he did was pretty "out there" so will not be everybody's cup of tea.
