Awesome Kris 👏👏👏 Being able to check in with yourself and ticking off your progress has definitely helped. I know it keeps me motivated to sew and quilt and craft in general when I do a self check in.
Thanks!! ❤️ You're right self reflection is important especially when you focus on the positive. It is motivating when I see all of the projects I've worked on since the last update.
Love your goals! In July I made myself finish eight quilts before I could start a new one!! And I did it! I'm great putting together tops, but bog down when it comes to sandwiches and quilting. You are an inspiration!!!
Good for you Kris!! Confidence is key in FMQ! Glad you’re enjoying it. I took a class on foundation paper piecing in march. So glad I did!! Last year I bought a few kits from Legit Kits and thought I would teach myself a new trick. Well, let me tell you after spending that kind of money on it. There was no way in hell I was ruining it lol since then I have been doing pretty much nothing but paper piecing and I love it!! I plan on doing those kits I bought after the first of the year and maybe at my retreat. I am getting a little better at long arming and I even entered my 1st quilt in a show! No ribbon but I learned so much! Enjoy the rest of your summer!! ❤
I recently did a large paper piecing project. I learned a lot too and did a video with a bunch of tips. Hopefully you saw it and some of them helped you. Keep going for those ribbons, I am sure you'll get one. ❤️ Enjoy the rest of your summer too.
I did recessed lighting in my sewing space. I highly recommend that you install color accurate (daylight) bulbs. It makes ALL the difference with color. Huge improvement vs standard lighting. Just a thought. :)
Thank you so much! The ones we got can be changed. I think there are eight different settings. Because I make videos in there, too, I am going to play with the settings. This is great to know! Thank you
Great job. Don't forget to have fun. I'm trying to break my habit of collecting so much stuff. I find it hard to let go, even though I don't need or use a lot of it. It's hard to dust and clean the house because I have too much stuff.
Can't wait to see your completed sewing room. Would love to see some of your FMQ projects. You are having a great year. You don't need to add anymore habits right now. Just enjoy yourself and keep up the good work!
The sewing room is a big project and will take a while. We're starting with new lighting and we'll see where it goes from there. Stay tuned on my channel for any updates to my FMQ.
Your last video inspired me to purchase an air purifier to use when I sew or quilt. I love it! It really makes a difference. Enjoy your success in conquering your list!
Am New to your Site and I love it So much! Your Teaching/Explaining Skills and Objectives are phenomenal and, too am frightened by Free Motion... I'm going to attempt it in the next cple weeks since I'm nearly done with a quilt top so hopefully I can find some Clips! TU😊
Sounds like you are doing wonderful, so glad. I need to make a list for myself. LOL I haven't got much sewing done, I also have been cleaning my room, arranging new shelving for all my stash, must say, I have to much. Gotta work on that.
Love hearing about your habits. I purchased an "Organized Chaos" planner to help keep track of all of the downsizing & packing so that I will be ready for the move next June. Hoping to be all done by May 1. I might need some breathing room.
Kris you are really doing so well on your quilting goals journey. I too started to improve my habits after your inspiration......well, let's just say it's still a work in progress. Keep on keeping on with your goals. Soon it will become second nature to you. I will email soon.
You are so welcome! I have a worksheet (free) on my blog if you need some help getting started! Honestly, I am surprised how much just putting it out there has helped me. This is the first month I actually got all 4s and 5s! LOL! Thank you so much for watching. I am thrill this has inspired you! @@SewtheDistance I love these blogs! I read all of them, what a game changer! I spend TONS of $$$ on Erin Condren planners! A GREAT PLACE to keep records and thoughts in order. TY
YAY! So glad you like them! I cannot tell you how many times I actually refer to my own blogs for information. 😆 It is a great way to keep track of stuff! So glad you enjoyed them.
I hadn’t heard about the scrap summit. Thanks for the tip. Looking forward to seeing you. I’ve been working on declutterring my sewing spaces and finishing UFO’s. I’m trying not to start any new projects. I also have a long line up of flimsies to go on my longarm. Keep on plugging!
Lots of great sessions planned at the Scrap Summit. Hopefully you can find some time to check them out. It will be very rewarding once you've completed a few of those UFO's. Please share some pictures. ❤️
Well done you! However I think you deserve 5/5 for habits 1 & 3 because the remodelling caused consequences that were out of your control. Keep up the good work by consolidating on these 5 & don't put undue pressure on yourself by taking on more "new" challenges especially with the silly season looming fast. Give yourself grace by basking in your awesome achievement so far this year
Congratulations on your high scores in breaking habits. Finishing projects is probably my #1 bad habit for the same reason….as much as my heart desires I work on multiple projects at once, when I do my head remains in a spin and I fall flat and stop everything! Bravo to you fixing 5 habits all at the same time! You ARE doing great!!
I’m so proud of you with the fmq! I felt bad calling you a chicken in your other video. I’m glad you didn’t take it to heart. It is so much fun! Wait until you start using them on quilts! Kudos to you! -taking back the chicken comment- lol
😆 LOVE it! I didn't take offense at all. I was a chicken! I actually have been working on quilts. I just didn't have any footage of that and needed to get the video up. 🤗 It is fun!
I have made progress! I am a little surprised, to be honest. It has been a challenging year in other areas, so I didn't expect it when I started looking at my goals again. I haven't gone live yet, but I have been thinking about it. I need to research how it all works with comments, etc. Hopefully it will be something I do soon.
I'm interested to know which air purifier you found that is working for you. I've been having issues with congestion from dust in my sewing room. Also do you run it continuously?
Hi! I started the air quality journey by using the View Plus by AirThings to measure the air quality in my sewing room (You read about this in my February habit update blog, if you are interested. Here's a link: www.sewthedistance.com/blog/five-quilting-habits-2024-feburary-update ). This gave a good idea of what I needed in an air purifier. I purchased this one: amzn.to/3WRMNx4 which I love. It doesn't run continuously, but you can set it up to run continuously, if you want. I have it set up on auto, so it kicks on when needed. I really love it and have noticed a huge difference. Hope this helps!

Great job with your habits! I don’t think you need to add anything! Just enjoy the win! It’s been a crazy year so keep up with the goal you set!
Thank you, Fallon! And thank you for being there for me during this crazy year. 🥰
I saw info about the Scrap Summit and saw that you are part of it. Will register. Thx.
It's going to be a great event and lots of info shared. Thanks!
Great job on your habit reform! Especially completing projects & FMQ. Proud of you. Keep the videos coming ... love them!
Thank you so much! 😊
You’ve inspired me to set some goals for myself too! I have a few (maybe more than a few) areas I can improve on!😀
Aww! Thank you so much! This makes me so happy to hear! That's what it is all about.
You can do it!

Awww. Thanks. I am glad we've found some encouragement together. ❤️
You're great! Marion
Thank you! You're great, too, Marion! 🥰
We'll done!!

Congratulations Kris!!!! Job well done. You have done a great job. I'm proud of you.
Thank you so much! 😊
Good to see you Kris. You're doing great with the habits.
Thanks so much! 🥰
So pleased you are enjoying free motion quilting. Also, well done on all of your goals.
Thank you! 😊
I wish I hadn't waited so long to try FMQ! It is so relaxing and fun!
Great progress update, and love this idea👍🌟❣️
Thank you! It has really helped to keep me on track.
Love your goals! In July I made myself finish eight quilts before I could start a new one!! And I did it! I'm great putting together tops, but bog down when it comes to sandwiches and quilting. You are an inspiration!!!

Kris, Finishing all your projects - what an awesome win! I'm impressed.
It's been a lot of work but very rewarding. Thanks so much.
Way to go Kris! You are doing great on your goals! I have been looking at air purifiers!11
Thanks. I am always surprised at how mine kicks on when I start sewing. More dust in the air than I thought. Stay healthy.
Sounds like you are doing wonderful, so glad. I need to make a list for myself. LOL I haven't got much sewing done, I also have been cleaning my room, arranging new shelving for all my stash, must say, I have to much. Gotta work on that.
Cleaning is important, but make sure you take some time to sew. 🧵❤️

I love using planners. They're a lot of fun and keep you organized. They're also useful to look back on and see your progress.

I was a bit surprised when I started planning this video. I was almost dreading it! The habits are sticking. YAY!
👋👋 😂😂😂 I am SO getting that sign for my sister. I tease her all the time about her piles on her cutting table. Sisterly Love ❤❤❤😂😂😂😂
I love it! 😆 The sign is perfect. It is in your face and I love it! 😆
Good job!
Thanks!
Your hair looks so pretty today.
Thank you 😊
Kris, your terrific and inspiring!
Thank you! ❤️ You can do it too.
