Oh man, what a flashback. Back in the '70's I was stationed in ELA for 4 years. The food there from the small 'Mom and Pop' restaurants was sooo good. Till this day I remember the great Mexican food I ate there.
Been going to Luge's since the early 80s, and it's still my favorite down-home Mexican fast food. This brother can really put it away, I'm too old now to be able to eat that way, lol.
There's an original lupes in Whittier area... my grandfather took my aunts and uncle's when they were little kids... my grandfather kept the tradition going with his grandkids... my mom takes us to lupes to remember our grandfather .... they use to live 2 blocks away from lupes when they were little kids... best tacos and burritos...wish they took pictures of the neighborhood as the years passes.... ty for sharing with all our us ...
From my understanding the one in Pico Rivera, off Beverly is family of the one in east la. At some point they had a falling out and lupes #2 was created.
I grew up right around the block Lupe's. I remember the original crew. It seems to be renovated because there was only counter seating back in the day. Delicious food. I'll have to make a trip soon. Thank you for bringing back great memories. ❤
Nice video bro. I'm from the westside of the 110 fwy, over in the Crenshaw District, and I rarely make it out to East LA. But I hear Lupe calling my name.
@@DavidEatsLA Woody's BBQ, 1958 W Florence Ave. I get the rib tips or beef ribs; Jack's Family Kitchen, 3965 S Western Ave. Great breakfast, get some biscuits; Pasta Roma, 2827 S Figueroa St. Great Italian food in a very laid back atmosphere. Everything I've had there is good.
I can't believe that I have never been to Lupe's and I've lived in So Cal my entire life. My family and I been frequently going to LA since I was a kid but Lupe's is one of the places our parents never took us to. Honestly I'm surprised even my dad never took us cause he grew up in Huntington Park and Boyle Heights.
David, I wish your channel nothing but the best! I see you investing in that camera and editing. You’re gonna reach 100k subscribers before you know it!
I used to hit Lupe's for lunch quite bit back in the mid 90's for lunch if I was in the area. Glad to hear that they are doing great now. Yeah, that roja salsa....Not for the faint hearted. 😅
Bro, thx for this video! I'm always on the hunt for some legit Mexican food in LA! I've lived in the LA-area for almost 60 years and haven't heard of Lupe's. My mouth was watering and my stomach growling as you were chowing down!!! Next stop: Lupe's!!! Subbed!
Messy is good, says you got a meal on hand, subscribed, enjoy my mexican food, not good in north carolina but I also watch PISUAREZ in mexico doing street stands and did live in AZ for 4 years, they had authentic food.
i didnt know about this place. im headed tommorow . i miss a good green chili combo and a great bean and cheese . since gardunos went out of buisness in montebello., thnax again. im on a budget but im adding these 2 burritoes to my new budget .
There’s a place in South Central has 🔥🔥🔥 Burritos also my Jefito used to take me there when I used to come visit him on the weekends. It’s called EL Mexicano AKA (Taco Mamas) on hooper and Vernon Ave. It’s a Hole in the wall, or should I say corner. Green Chili Chunky cheesy beef burrito. Order it with just meat, potato’s, & cheese. I guarantee you won’t regret it👍🏽 also Al & Beas used to be one of my Fav’s also the bean & cheese👌🏾
That torta looks like the bomb. My fave is milanesa from El Compita on Salida a Celeya. They’ve also got great juices, smoothies, and aguas. Local favorites are the Vampiro, the San Migueliense, but I like the simple naranja/betebel/zanahoria blend. You know, the don’t really have burritos down here like we do in California. Not big burritos. I’m starting to think maybe the burritos we know and love are a migrant farmworker thing.
Is Manny’s El Loco open at any location. I heard the last one in West Covina closed. I like Carnitas and Carne Asada burritos. This Lupe’s has too much cheese. Not a cheese fan. Pepe’s is probably my favorite right now and El Tepeyac.
First off, great first name you have! Now you make me want to take a 400 mile round trip down to my old stomping grounds to hook up some serious comida!
Never been a Torta guy. Love me a cold or hot sandwich. But for some reason I haven’t found a torta I crave. I think bean and cheese burritos are a Boyle Heights/ELA thing, I didn’t even know that was a thing. I guess I’ll have to give both these a try at Lupe’s. Thx

One of the best things about LA is all the amazing Mexican food!!!

I just had supper but man oh man. After watching this, I could definitely go for one of those burritos!
Darn. I am in Colorado.

Bro you are making me so hungry looks amazing ! Mexican food is some of the best on the planet period !
I couldn't begin to count the Lupe's taquitos I've eaten over the years. Everything is incredible there, but I was hooked on those taquitos.
I was at Union Station and I saw a couple with a huge box of food from Lupe’s They were going to the LA dodger game, and took the train!
Sweet. Yes, you can get to Union Station via the Metro and then take the free shuttle to the stadium. Smart.
@@mrxman581 Yep, hella smart.
i’ve done the same!
Great story
@@DavidEatsLA you gotta do half and half orange bang and horchata it’s bomb mixed together every time at Lupe’s and Mario’s taco in pico

I just subscribed. Have you done the Mexicatessen in Monterey Park? They have great burritos. Try the chili verde if you like the heat.
Lupe’s is definitely the best. El Tepeyac and Al&be’s at one time were good. Can’t compete with Lupe’s anymore
I agree after the old man died it wasn't the same. Al & bs isn't the same and the staff is rude.
I'm used to going to Al & Bea's on 1st, but I'm definitely going to have to give Lupe's a shot
Al & Beas is great too! Definitely give it a try
Orange bang and green burrito was my go to at Lupe’s 12 different kind of burritos in the early 80’s.
