    On all machines, no matter the brand, you can get into your BIOS by holding down the Shift key while clicking Restart in the Start menu. Then, select Troubleshoot, Advanced options, UEFI Firmware Settings, and Restart.

Came to find out the dip switch to enable XMP was disabled. Needless to say, I'm glad modern motherboards don't do this anymore.

Sometimes when I get into my bios/uefi it randomly freezes and need to restart my PC, but never ever had a freeze in normal use, I mean, when i´m on WIndows since I built this system back in October 2022. I´m have 32 GB RAM running in XMP mode an Asus Prime Z690-P. Could this issue be caused by the XMP? Any info about it will be appreciated. Happy new year!

    Treating myself to a new machine, an Intel Core 7 Ultra system with hopefully 64GB of memory, running 2 sets of 2x8GB each for a total of 16 Gigs. at 6400/CL 32 from Corsair. Currently typing this on a 7th gen Core i5 Dell SFF Optiplex with 32GB of DDR4 memory. yes, the new system is DDR5.
    Most parts are ordered and most have been delivered, have another 32G set of memory coming, another NVME drive, a mechanical 4TB for storage of video assets etc., the case this week, the PSU next week, the front I/O with card reader doesn't arrive till the later 3rd of February. However, I can get it all put together before and just add it later, and also the graphics card. Want Battlemage but the B850 has been elusive so far, but I have a notification for it at NewEgg and B&H.
    I'll put on my old retail copy of 10, then upgrade to 11Pro and of course, update anything else as needed. Can't wait!

      Sounds like a great system. The only thing I would recommend would be to start with Windows 11. Intel processors with E & P cores work much better in Windows 11 because Windows 10 doesn't schedule between the performance and efficiency cores properly. You might get loads that should go on the performance core getting scheduled to the efficiency cores.

    • @Tarzoq

      I agree, I have found Windows 11 in general to be much better at finding drivers than Windows 10. After running a driver installer tool like SDIO after Windows Update on both, Windows 11 covered even the more obscure drivers, almost ruling out the need for driver installer tools entirely.

    • @CyberCPU
      @CyberCPU  16 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Windows update uses older drivers most of the time. It does work great but I recommend installing your GPU and chipset drivers from the manufacturer.
      There's been instances with GPU drivers that using the manufacturer's driver instead of the default Windows driver had a 20% boost in performance.

    • @CyberCPU
      @CyberCPU  16 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Windows 10 and 11 both use the same Windows update mechanism. They should both equally find drivers well. I've never noticed a difference.

      @@CyberCPU I always install the latest video drivers from the manufacturer after Windows update is finished which is great unless you are installing Intel onboard video drivers then Windows update will reinstall the older driver. The result was a disaster as my entire admin account was GONE!!! Do you know what could have caused this? Oh, fortunately I did make a clone backup the day before, so I was able to restore my admin account with all my data. So, for you new PC builders or buyers or ones lucky enough to be gifted a new PC. BEWARE OF THIS: Even ticking in Rufus to remove the feature of creating a Microsoft account when and while installing Windows with the Ethernet cable plugged in it won't do any good since Windows installs in most cases the wired network card drivers and so it senses by connecting automatically to the Internet the installation and WILL STILL ask you to install Windows with a Microsoft account! If you forgot unplugging the cable the solution is to unplug it and then choose to return a step or two of the current installation and rerun the installation process!

      Not always true. EXPO started on AM5. On AM4 you may very well still be looking for XMP even though that's technically an Intel thing. My AMD motherboard asked me to set XMP in BIOS, they just used the term everyone was already familiar with since AMD hadn't come up with EXPO yet.

      Okay, cool. Same tip applies no matter which GPU you use. You should always run the latest driver from the manufacturer instead of the one that Windows installs.

      @londo776 it's possible that TH-cam used a lower resolution the first time you watched the video. I've noticed some videos only play at 144p sometimes.
      I've been watching a lot of content related to retro gaming lately and several of the channels are fairly small and TH-cam automatically runs their videos at low resolution and I have to set them to 1080p manually. Might be TH-cam trying to save money.
      Glad it's working now.

    in my 27 years in the IT field, I've never once hear any one say "A S Rock" or "A S U S" for these companies. EVERYONE I've ever spoken to has said "azz-rock" and "eh-seus" This video alone has made me lose all faith in your credibility as a tech. Are you nothing more than a bearded Linus? A presenter and nothing more? Do you even actually know how to build a computer?

      After 5 years I've learned that you have to have thick skin to run a TH-cam channel. I'm sorry if my 20 years experience isn't enough for you but my pronunciation of words was the last straw. Also know that I mispronounce regedit on a regular basis and I don't care. 😅😂🤣

      @@CyberCPU I noticed this as well, and I too don’t give a damn. Keep pushing forward! On another note, w.r.t. unknown devices (chipset drivers); what are your thoughts on just having Windows Update handle them after first boot?

    • @CyberCPU
      @CyberCPU  16 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@adampavelec857 Windows 10 and 11 are really good at detecting drivers. For the most part I leave whatever they detect unless it's chipset or GPU drivers. For those I updated to the latest from the manufacturer.
      For all other drivers the Windows drivers work fine unless you're having specific problems with those devices.

    Man..I wouldn't do any of this. Why use some random 3rd party route when you could just directly interact with Nvidia, not for me. First think I would do is install "Everything" which is a Windows file explorer that blows the doors off of the native one for speed and power - it will even bring up hidden files. Then I would download all my programs using Winget or use portable versions where applicable. And fan curves belong in the bios. I just have a totally different approach here.
