Bought my 2014 gsr with 30k miles for 27k 2 years ago.
Im almost done with the medium build. I spent a fortune on MAP.
So far nothing broke. Did most of the work myself. 1st thing I did is change anything that required maintenance or things that i knew would give an issue.
Bushings, rotors, clutch, flywheel, brakes, gasket kit, every suspension upgrade. changed most bolts due to rust since im in Northeast. Also changed and flushed every fluid.
Car is running mint since day 1. Only issue was the intercooler piping coming off due to too much power. Now trying to get to that next phase. 700+hp is my goal. That or divorce.. good luck to you all.

The evos have always been a car that retains its value, and the more these car get highly modified and totaled the more the price is gonna go up on a clean one!

most these evos are around 15k-28k now cause some are so clapped out or semi modified which most of the time brings the value down. but low mileage ones are 30k-45k.
I’m looking at a 2011 gsr wicked white this Friday, with a map stage one built shortblock/semi built head with s2 cams. With all the fbos/exedy twin clutch. Agt 55mm dual ball bearing. Tune by Ronnie e85. For $21.5k
Wish me luck 🍀 that I take it home!

Sitting with a 630hp Evo I'd say his prices are right on. Depending how much you paid any mechanics. Engine for me ended up being for MAP 2.2 was a bit more because I bought a used evo with a built block that threw a rod bearing and destroyed the 2.4L engine beyond repair. After having the 2.2 and 2.4 I would suggest the 2.4L the lower ended and turbo spool is so much nicer. also I went with the GTX3576 which you could go with the GTX3582 for 50 more HP but ALL your power is at like 7k not worth the 50hp for me. My turbo kicks in at about 3.5k all the way to 7.5k RPM and I can shift as high as 8k but don't gain that many HP for the extra 500rpm. For me I spent 20k on the low mileage savaged and 20k on mods give or take :).

    • @CrazyPsych0B
      @CrazyPsych0B 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Are you running Corn? I have the GTX3576r Gen 2. Super happy with it but I’m mildly tuned on E85 to about 450hp till I build the motor. I’ll keep in mind your 2.4 suggestion!

Just to let others know, this can also apply to the Lancer Ralliart as it has the same engine and transmission as the Evo X MR and you can find them around 10k. The RA just has a smaller turbo and intercooler basically.

The Evo X long block is exactly the same as the RA.
The MR SST is the as the RA besides 5th/6th gear ratios and firmware.
The X and RA have the same t-case.
The RA has a rear diff like the Evo 9, where the X has a rear diff that supports AYC.
The RA has a smaller turbo (TD04 single scroll) than the X (TD05 twin scroll).
The RA is a base model chassis.
The RA has dual piston front calipers. (The base model has single and the X have 4 piston).
The FE did get sodium filled valves, which was not available for any other X or the RA.

Yes, do what I did: I satisfied my car bug with (a) less expensive, reliable sporty car(s) and managed my money and credit to buy a modest house. In a few years let the market work to your advantage and sell for a nice profit or even better, if I could do it over, save for another down payment, buy another house to live in, rent the first house out, and repeat. You'll be able to buy almost any car and actually be able to afford it and more than just the basics in other areas of your life as well.

The car it self cost me 15500 for a 2014 mr with 50kmiles. Next step is going to be stage 3 engine building on e85 and i did all of the work my self except opening the transmission

ppl keep telling i got scammed when i bought my evo with 60k miles for 13k$ cus i had to do a some bodywork , brake rebuild and the ayc pump was not workin and the rear diff was making noises but the engine is running perfectly fine, i dropped 2k for the brakes( caliper rebuild and new discs, 2.5k for the rear diff and some hardware, 150$ for a ayc pump repair kit, changed all work wheel hub bearing for 800$ full fluid change, so after 8k in repair i have a 70k miles evo whos running perfectly fine now im dropping cash in mods,( oh btw cad dollars so over all i paid around 17k for that with overpriced part cus i live in canada...

I paid AUD $42.5 in 2012 for my 08 X MR with 88k on the clock. Since then I've spent over $100k tuning Inc turbo, full 3.5 inch ss exhaust, MAP intercooler, engine rebuild with ARP studs and all forged internals, ECU tune x2, rims, brakes (6 pot front, 4 pot rear Brembos, DBA 4000 rotors + braided lines), injectors and fuel pump with E85 flex fuel, cams, ported head (Cosworth), MAP manifold, coilovers, SST rebuild with 800hp clutch packs, and other incidentals that escape me at the moment. It was important to me that the car be A) bulletproof and B) look as stock as possible since it's a cop magnet, so the only obvious external differences are the brakes, the exhaust tips and the sound. The end result is a fairly conservative 400KW at the wheels (it could go a lot higher) and a daily driver that today clicked over to 320,000km and has been virtually problem free the whole time. I've had many cars over the years but the Evo X has to be the best!

That $7,000 to build the trans is just the start of extras needed for the sst. And even kozmic builds only last so long, it was an extremely poorly designed trans from the factory and even with upgrades they will never be very reliable. Especially when you get into the 500+whp range.
