I’m learning that you must first understand music theory before you are able unlock the door to the world of creating beautiful sounds of music😍...and that door for me, is opening slowly but surely😍…thank you
I’m developing a habit of watching your videos from your first to the future one and tbh I’m really learning a lot of stuffs and I’m really happy 😊 YOUR VIDEOS ARE THE BEST ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
I've watched a lot of videos on this, but you definitely explained it the best. I'm actually a guitarist, but couldn't find a video that shows me how to use it on guitar. You made it easy for me to carry over to my instrument. Great video
A great series of lessons. To the point. No nonsense. Extremely educational and in their very structured way, inspiring and motivational. Thanks for you great work. We really appreciate what you're doing.
I'm a low brass player, but I've gotten into piano through my smol yamaha CS reface, today specifically I've felt a huge step up in my ability to play chords through muscle memory and recognize what the chords are. Today, I am happy. :)
Good day Warren! Thanks for all this knowledge you put out here. This has really improved my playing and I'm very very grateful. You're literally teaching everything for free. You're really helping a lot of people improve and perfect thid skill. Thanks and God bless!
I have regrets why i didn't find this tutorial. Thanks men you answer my biggest question and rather than that i learn what is the use and how to use the Diminished and Augmented Chord.
I have to go back and look at your previous presentation to understand about diminish chord here so I can understand about passing chord.. Thank you sir Warren. I am trying to use it on the song "amazing grace".
I'm very glad to learn that the diminished augmented and some 7ths chords are symmetrical in their intervals and also that there are only 3 augmented and diminished 7ths chords! =)
awesome stuff! is there a video on the altered chords? i didn't really understand how to build them and how they are linked to the diminished and augmented chords 😅
Thank you man. The video is brilliant, so much insights, yet easy to understand, really really inspiring. But I still don't fully understand the altered chord part: I figured that there is a augmented chord "inside" the altered chord you played, but how should I build, and use it? Could you give a little hints about that?
tdn leyuice an altered chord is where the 5th and 9th degree of the chord is altered (# or b). Generally those chords are used on the 5 chord just before going back to the one chord. And yes you’re correct, the triad portion of an altered chord is an augmented chord.
Great Video am enjoying it specially on the part were you go in depth .it would be nice you also do a video with famous songs with these tips and tricks applied
Bruce Nawa I like that idea but that would be a tricky one lol... everyone's "famous song" would be different based on the style of music they like. What would you consider the top 10 famous songs of all time? Or top 15
1:33 I'm pretty sure that "Ghost Town" by The Specials starts with a diminished chord. In fact, I think there are four of them in a row. C Diminished, C# Dim, D and E flat diminished
Thanks sir Warren for the tutorial but please could you help me tell how i can find my way to being able to play talk music please because as of now i do practice most of your lessons but implementing them in my play session is quite difficult for me sir. Thanks
started watching from beginner its been about a week and I know all major scales now and minor, most chords too....feeling discouraged because I want to play my own melodies on my keyboard but still can't. maybe I need patience but I enjoy your tutorials thanks
Dont'e Brown thanks for watching. Don’t be discourage my friend. It takes time to develop the improvisatory skill to play your own melodies. Just continue to learn from the tutorials and most importantly, put into PRACTICE the things you learn!!!
Thank you Warren. You are a good teacher indeed. Kindly help in terms of how to play melody using chords for any song. My problem is I analyse a song based on the bass than the melody then I build my chords from there, but my chord structure becomes lame. Can you help???
Wandile Ntombela I can definitely help with that. However, it would be too long to explain in this message... it's also easier to demonstrate. Shoot me a message via email; war85ren@gmail.com and I'll connect with you. Thanks
I had to watch this video again to try and understand everything, there was just so much to take in, I'm understanding most but Im a little confused when you talk about the circle of 4ths, how they move in 4ths, is that from a C major scale? is the 4th moving in half steps or whole steps? I'm trying to understand how do you get the movement of the 4ths. If i was to find that movement of 4th in the key of D how does that work and how do i get to that?
Hey Warren, thanks a lot for your tutorials, i have a question, why in the augmented chords on your midi piano say its Eb and not D#? I have this confusion, cause i know that Eb and D# are the same, but i really want to know that... Greetings : )
Hey brother I really appreciate your videos. Would you mind explaining the chords and bass line @ 6:30 to 6:40. I've heard it quit often in gospel music but I've yet to have learned it. Thank you sir.!
I didn't quite understand diminished chords as a passing chord for 4th chords. Was C to Am considered a 4th chord transition? Or can that diminished chord be used when going to a relative minor chord? Great btw! Really enjoyed it!
Thanks for watching. Yes you can a diminished chord passing when going to the relative minor. Checkout my later video, you’ll learn more about passing chords
Thanks for all of these tutorials. You play a lot of jazzy runs with the diminished and augmented chord. Is that the primary genre they are applied or do they have application in any genre?
Yo bro thanks a lot ! I am watching all of your videos to get that nice music theory and it helps me a lot ! I have a question : when you use your diminished or augmented chord as a passing chord, which one do you know you will choose before arriving to your destination chord ? For example, if my first chord is a C Maj, and I want to go to D minor, so I choose the chord in between which is the C#dim. But if I want to go from C maj to A minor, would I choose C#dim or the diminished chord one semi tone before A minor which is G#dim ? Thanks a lot ! :)
Raphaël EL-BAZE you’d using G#dim. There are rules to using passing chords. Once you understand the rules then you don’t have to guess what chords to use.
No, it’s just diminished. Major, minor, diminished, and augmented are the four basic triads. Therefore you can have a major-diminished, or a minor-diminished. It’s either one or the other, but cannot it be both.
I really enjoy your videos. But I was wondering if you can be a little bit more clear at the end of the video on exercises to do right after you explain something. Like moving the diminished chord to what chord in every key type exercises. You know like an exercise that's repetitive and some with all of the options. I hope I'm making sense. Thank you and I love your work
great tutorial man! when you demonstrate how a dim chord is used, i just wish if you could first explain why transition from C to Dm, you'd go through C sharp dim, instead of just C dim (obviously it's because it won't sound right or tricky on the fingers), but I felt there's a bit of a skipping there. Otherwise, great videos!!
If i understand correctly, the dim chords are best used in passing to land on a minor chord. For example in the music progression 1(C) to 2(d) the 1(C) is the root chord and the 1#(C#) is the passing chord in you want to land on the 2(d)...Warren says that it's best used in passing to land on a minor...i hope my explanation makes sense YOG
