The quality of a Chromatic mediant chords are usually major or minor chords, but in gospel music you can always break the rules in improvising to extend the chromatic mediant chords or even change the quality of the chords to diminished or augmented, at this point what is most important is whether it sounds good to the ears.

It's not usually used when you are going to a major chord because it doesn't sound too good, but you could try it and see if it sounds nice
