I also looks like a cell coverage diagram - which they use for mobile phone cell site coverage maps (how the radio transmissions overlap to provide continuous coverage): Cell Site link:
Venn Diagram = Vesica Pisces = Eternity, I brought up this similarity in the previous episode, when it showed up in Graces book. It has deep meaning , in sacred geometry, you start as a point ( Singularity ) which is also what we call it when A.I. achieves consciousness. as in sacred geometry, its where life begins. the Vesica Pisces , is the next step, but represented by duality. good vs bad, mercy, vs severity, it also represents the combination of Mind Body and Soul. all this esoteric symbolism is very strong in this show. One thing nobody seems to have mentioned in any review, is the record ( LP ) Labels, if you pause the video, you will see they are mazes. ! but they are also another symbol, called Ein Sof, definition is "Ein Sof may be translated as "unending", "(there is) no end", or infinity" Ah there is that word again. look up Ein Soph" you will see that it is sometimes symbolized as circles within circles, and one is to take the journey from one tier to the next, just like last years maze, and this years maze. but last year, A.I. needed to reach the center to become singularity, this year, William needs to return to his "singularity" which was when he "started living" and became the MIB.
i think one of things you missed was the fact that Lawrence remembered what william said in his previous life. If he starts to remember things could go bad for William.
Bicameral Mind, S1 finale, has a shockingly high IMDB score of 9.6, and is my favorite WW episode. No problem with S2 E4 as second best (and perhaps most pivotal).
Mycel paragon, renegade and neutral :) But you're right, pussies always get fucked by the dicks, but they can also fuck assholes, but the assholes just shit all over everything hahaha. Goddamn that movie.
Fantastic analysis. You're actually doing a lot to alleviate the frustration of not being able to process everything that happens on the show all at once. On a minute by minute basis they present so much that it almost seems convoluted but when you break it down, it's clear to see the various narrative strands and how they intertwine. Keep up the excellent work.
The scene where Ford says that someday they will "call forth Lazarus from his cave" plays in the recap before the episode, and the lab where the "resurrection" of James Delos is attempted is hidden in a cave.
Yeah that line really creeps me out with the added context. What episode was that from btw? I know season 1 obviously but I'm trying to suss out if it's before or after Bernard "deactivates" Theresa permanently.
@@julians7268 🤣 you really shouldn't bud, I'm literally typing it as a response to any comment where it makes sense (which it kind-of-does at a stretch with yours).
Great great points regarding how the data on guests could be used to replicate them (imagine how much power that would give Delos, given that it's practically only influential people that visit the parks) and the second human host brain. Keep up the great work!
That's exactly what big tech is doing in real life. Consider how people are "their true selves" on the Internet, what your searches alone say about you, what you watch on TH-cam, what you say on Social media (even if you don't use it as an extremely unprivate diary, just your opinions, sense of humour, your reactions. Do you think Google, Facebook (sorry "Meta" or is it "Beta"), Microsoft, Apple, & Amazon want to know your every detail for YOUR benefit, or because these transhumanists find you interesting. Don't trust them with your data.
As always, a top-notch analysis, though I was a bit disappointed that it didn't note the uncanny similarity between the opening of this episode and that of the season 2 premiere of "Lost", "Man of Science, Man of Faith": a man whose face we don't see goes through his daily routine, which includes healthy food and a spin on an exercise bike, accompanied by some classic '60's rock which is oddly apropos to his situation. We soon find that his home is really more of a prison, an isolated bunker with ample comforts, but which he cannot leave. I almost expected to see Delos typing in The Numbers. :) Not coincidentally, I think, J.J. Abrams is the executive producer of both shows.
I am impressed as ever by your well-sourced coverage of episodes by story threads instead of just by the order in which they appeared, as so many other recaps do.
This episode of Westworld Explained were really on point with its transitions and delivery, great job! It really seems like you're having fun editing this, coming up with small elegant solutions for progressing step by step throughout the video :)
I paused the video 14 seconds in, hit the like button then clicked on your Patreon link and supported your channel. I really enjoy your content and look forward to your uploads.
Odin Satanas What are you talking about? Are you sure you’re replying to the right comment? I’m talking about monthly giving money to this channel on Patreon to support it. I’m not sure what you are talking about in your reply.
Dude! So good. So much content is released by Thursday, but none of it compares to the quality of what you do. I love this show and the speculation around it. That's why I started making videos. You're an inspiration. And you're the best. No question.
Your reviews and analyses are brilliant. The showing of actual lines is great. i was thinking of taking notes to that effect but you've done all the work.
Love your West World breakdowns. Best I have found on the Tubes and I really get a lot of food for thought and think about things that alluded me when watching the episode after your analysis. Please keep them coming, much obliged.
I felt like this episode was a lot better than previous ones in this season. Maybe because it was directed by Lisa Joy. I hope coming eposides will maintain this level of finesse :P Thanks for taking the time to make these video's man!
Honestly man you are the best theory youtuber out there, I have a keen and picked up a lot of stuff but you articulate in a magnificent different way :)
*Episode opens on Jim Delos on a stationary bike* "Make your own kind of music/Sing your own special song/Make your own kind of music/Even if nobody else sings alonnnng"
We know about Westworld, Raj World and Shogun World. Suppose there is also Medieval World and Roman World. So which is the misterious sixth world? What do you guys think? @altshiftx
Given the clientele of Westworld, Romanworld is one of the most obvious not mentioned parks. Even if they went the route of 'swords and sandals' instead of historical Rome, there's still enough pillaging, gladiators, and sex slaves to warrant a park.
The intro to this episode reminded me so much of the episode where we see Desmond living in "the Hatch" in Lost! Westworld has a lot of winks to that show, JJ Abrams influence is subtle but there...
I think it’s pretty stupid how they burned James and his room over and over again. Not only is it wasteful to destroy the props and replace them but it’s just so overly dramatic. They didn’t give us any reason why they can’t just improve the code in his brain program and run a software update on the body they already made
you didn't do your usual recap at the end, where you pan to all the different parts of your board, I felt like something was missing. Anyways, amazing breakdown as always! Thanks Shift!
The scenes with Delos in the room with records playing reminded me heaps of Desmond & the Hatch at the beginning of Lost season 2 (I think - iit's been over a decade since I saw it :o)
Hey bro I hope you see this. I tried to look for this video typing westworld 2x04 explained, it was weird that yours wasn't in the top results. I had to go into your channel. Maybe its a youtube error or idk, but if u can solve it anyhow it might help you. Cause that's how we say it in spanish, and your videos are helpful to some of us with beginner level of english since you speak so clear and the subs are so accurate.
Emily/Grace probably wants to resurrect her mother with the "Glory" project. This is her reason for being in the park, which will conflict with William's conviction that death is final...
Maybe glory is the center of all the parks, could be a self destruct switch there that destroys and shuts down everything... William did say he was going to "burn it all down"...
I really like what this show has done concept wise: start with sex, violence, and debauchery to hook people in to a good yarn. Then, once interest is piqued, introduce a deep dive into the concepts of life, thought, memory, agency, and how technology can change all of them.
The second time we see Delos, he's dancing to the tune "Do The Strand" by the band Roxy Music. The B-Side to that single is a song called "Editions of You." I see what you're doing HBO, and I like it.
...so am I the only one who thought "yeah, if she dragged him that much, the behind of his pants woulda ripped or worn down" only to find they did actually do that?
To then find Elsie, who was in a cave chained for aproximately about a week and looks like she was just at the hairdresser? Yea, kind of weird, that they pay close attention to some details but not to others, unless it has some hidden meaning
The glory symbol drawn in the book looks to me like a venn diagram. Humans, Hosts, and the hybrid that encapsulates both.
Great observation!
I also looks like a cell coverage diagram - which they use for mobile phone cell site coverage maps (how the radio transmissions overlap to provide continuous coverage): Cell Site link:
I agree its a fucking venn diagram
Came to the comments section to say the exact same thing, but you beat me to it!

RoastingPotPieMonkey Yeah, William looked scared when he remember that. He knows he's screwed if El Lazo remembers.
Thanks for pointing out the symbolism of room's objects and the room itself. I totally missed that. Another great episode.
It was also a nod to JJ Abrams TV show "Lost", when with the beginning of S2 a new character (Desmond) was introduced
yeah the fish inside the bowl = james.
Wut you can visit HBO's channel where interviews with the directors are uploaded. You can find more there.
Probably the best Westworld episode so far
TheBodyOnPC At least top 5
Written by Jonah and directed by Lisa, can only be good
Indeed, the pacing and themes were tight!
