Used Spec mix mortar and have always known it to be consistent. Not to say, depending on where you're working, humidity, temperature of course all comes into play. However, VIF, verify in field, blow outs occur,mix gets wet and can lump up. Vibrating the wall is the sure way to go. Mind that all possibilities of a blow out will save you a lot of work and money.
