In the UK planning permission from the local council is required (sometimes) for antennas. For small installations such as a mag loop or some form of long wire it usually easier and cheaper to ask for forgiveness than to seek permission in the first place. In most cases providing you don't encroach on your neighbours or upset them or go madly excessive with your installation, you'll get away with it. Restrictions in most cases are nowhere as tight as some HOA's in the US.
First time I have commented, but I've seen a lot of your videos. Keep up the good work. Thank you.

For those into building wanting to give this a try, if you don't have a variable capacitor, two blank PCB's held together with a rubber band make an excellent variable capacitor.
5x7cm can give somewhere between 100-200pF for tuning.

This was certainly a loopy topic! ha! See what I did there? Great video, this is one antenna type that I really don't have any experience with, so this helped me understand how they work!

Thanks I was going to ask about laying on its side.

No, it should be vertical. Also, edge on is the strongest signal. Turning it flat toward the transmitting station will null the signal. A loop is quite directional.

I would love to see a recipe book on how to build an MW only exterior loop specifically for that band that tunes. I live in the city and can't have amplifiers as all I get is static

We should all be able to convert back and forth inches or feet to mm, cm, or meters by now.
