I'm inline skating since April 2023. Doing a lot of exercises to improve my balance. Inline skating is such fan! I've also noticed that I have pronation on my right foot. This season I'm doing to work hard on correcting it. What I've seen in one of the videos of Asha Kirkby from Skatefresh (btw, I highly recommend her videos on TH-cam, I've learned so much from her) is that we need to control position of our knees. When we push knee to the outside, then there will be no pronation. Happy skating! ☺️
Nice! I’m 34 and currently learning how to skate. It can get very intimidating watching those who have a background in skating 😅but watching you helps a lot thanks.
Pretty good video. You are making great progress. I really wish I was recording myself when I first started skating. I can tell you even watching my own videos from August till today I have made a lot of progress. If I was able to watch myself skating from 2 years ago I would be amazed at the progress I made. Keep up the good work. The pronated comment, I am guessing your right leg is your better leg? I think people tend to pronate it more on the leg they are primarily using to push most of their weight with.
In general, going down hill you should have one foot in front and one in the back (same as when you were practicing your scissors). You'll be more balanced this way and you feel more in control to give you the confidence to go faster down hill. It also allows you easier transition to carving down hill since that's the position your feet needs to be in. If you want to carve to the right, then your right foot needs to be in front and you put your weight on your front foot while push with your back foot. Also, want to add that the one foot forward and one foot backward stance is not for just for down hill. That's the most stable stance for inline skating since you're more likely to fall forward or backward.
Such great progress-! Well done and omg your awareness is on point- you're going to continue growing in big strides because of the way you're reflecting (which I'm sure you know ahah) Looking forward to where you go from here!
I just turned 38 and i bought a brand new pair of powerslide next. I skated ALOT as a kid, so i had a big head start in the learning department, but girl I'm so out of shape. I was getting discouraged the first few days because of how weak and unconfident i felt, but I'm starting to get my groove back...albeit slowly lol 😅😊 stay safe and keep having fun!!
@@ms.bunniesarecute2287 roller skating really humbled me up..I'm not as fit as I thought I was haha but i promise you'll make progress each time you practice♥️
Nice it seems like we both started inline skating during the same time frame even though my progress is not the same as yours this sparks some motivation in me to keep pushing myself. Quick question did you go through any foot pain when you first started?
That's rad we started around the same time! The most important thing is having fun and connecting with your inner child 🫶🏼 To answer your Q--yes! I had a lot of foot pain the first 3-4 days of breaking my skates in
we have the same problem with the pronation of the foot, for me it's on my left. I've been skating for a couple of months now and still this persists. I can't turn left properly due to it.
@@itschuckee6778 I finally got rid of my pronation 😃 what helped me were insoles, along with exercises. I have a full vid out now if you wanna check it out!
I've been skating for only about a month longer than you, but do you mind if I give you some advice? Don't skate with your feet level - make sure one foot is in front of the other, especially downhill. Having your feet together is really unstable. Great progress though! x
Bruh , the last time i got on states tikk yesterday was 3 years ago , i out some on and forgot the path was a downhill, it almost got wild , luckily the grass saved me . 😂😂
You asked for tips on the outside edge, don't know if you have nailed it down since this video was a couple of months ago, but what you have to do is be really low, lean your body towards the side you want to get the edge on (so for your right foot outside edge, be low and learn towards the right), your body will try to autocorrect because it feels like u are going to fall, but its not the case, start gradually and you'll find u are there.
Got that problem with one foot as well 😅 Right one is perfectly straight when pushing however the left one always ends up at an angle no matter how hard I try. Don't understand what's happening there😂
Adjust the angle and position of that skate's frame, so your weight is directly over the line of the wheels. It's different for everyone (and every foot) so a proper adjustment is essential
I'm 59. I've been skating for less than a year. Mastered heel-toe and toe-toe😁

I appreciate your feedback. You're probably right about my pronation actually, my right foot is my dominant foot!! It makes sense now!
You are doing great, much better than myself. Keep it up.
Thank you 😊🙏🏼 keep at it!
getting the hang of a new skating technique is rarely satisfying. hang in there and one day you will be awesome!
Agreed, tysm💖
Good job 👍 i started learning last week trying to do an hour a day 😅

Check blade placement on the foot that struggles with pronation. Your plate may not be placed correctly. A skate shop could possibly fix it for you.
