In-love w In-line Skating! I'm a beginner and I can't wait to change that.
I Fixed My PRONATION!! How I did it, tips, tricks
When I started my journey in September 2023, I developed pronation(leaning on the inside edges) of my feet, more prominently in one foot.
I worked hard to straighten up and after hours of research, tens of videos watched, and days of training, MY PRONATION IS GONE.
Aside from the obvious─TIGHTEN YOUR SKATES, hard boot over soft boot─I'm thrilled to share what worked for me, in hopes it will work for you, too.

There are many insoles out there made specifically to correct pronation. I've never tried those but I would imagine they are also worth a try.

I thought that the main leg should be placed on the outer edge of the wheels
Correction, I paid $45 for the insurance* And it's good for 1 year, one time use.
I learned that i should be using the lens guards for the same reason. Lady ran a red light and I jumped the curb to avoid her but missed the curb. 😂 The lenses are roughly 20. I have tried the glass and the removable. Not much difference as far as quality.
@@RISk8ers im still stuck deciding between the guards or the stickies 🤔🤔
@@shannon.skates I have been using the optical glass ones and finding them great so far. The sticky ones were good as well.
Looked more like a new camera than a repair 🤔
They send you a refurbished camera due to the time it takes to repair them. Even with a refurbished camera being sent out it takes roughly 1 month turnaround.
@@RISk8ers turnaround was 16 days from dropping off the package to getting it back on my doorstep. I was impressed with the quick turnaround!
@shannon.skates mine was about 28 days. When I got it back the replacement camera was in worse condition than the one I originally sent to them in the first place. After 2 weeks of going back and forth with them they finally replaced the broken one they sent me. Took 35 additional days for the 2nd one. Their support really sucks imho.
@@RISk8ers what an exhausting experience..now I'm nervous, I hope mine isn't in worse condition 😔
Thank you for this series! I'm a beginner here too, and your videos are way easier to follow and relate to. I'm struggling with turning at the moment, would be great to have a tutorial about that. Thanks
You should wear safety gear at the rink too. Most rinks are still solid concrete and you'll be falling the same distance.
This video was great and I completely understood her humor 😂😂😂I feel like skating now. I’m only 5 days in
Hi! I started following you on here right before getting my first pair of inline skates (I've been thinking about it for over a year lol), thank you so much for being so consistent with posting, it really helps with my motivation as a beginner :)

I just turned 38 and i bought a brand new pair of powerslide next. I skated ALOT as a kid, so i had a big head start in the learning department, but girl I'm so out of shape. I was getting discouraged the first few days because of how weak and unconfident i felt, but I'm starting to get my groove back...albeit slowly lol 😅😊 stay safe and keep having fun!!
@@ms.bunniesarecute2287 roller skating really humbled me up..I'm not as fit as I thought I was haha but i promise you'll make progress each time you practice♥️

Love your videos! I started skating 3 days ago and i am noticing pronation in my right foot even with my skates tight. Hope i can fix that.. still trying to get used to the feeling of moving around on skates but having a good time
@@grace7705 it's so challenging at first bc it really works your balance and ankle strength 🙈 excited to hear more about your progress, thanks for watching ❤️
❤ genial
@@CarmenRodriguez-un7ki gracias ❤️😊
I've been skating for only about a month longer than you, but do you mind if I give you some advice? Don't skate with your feet level - make sure one foot is in front of the other, especially downhill. Having your feet together is really unstable. Great progress though! x
@@BongoBaggins great advice. thank you for sharing, I'm keeping this in mind 💪🏻😀
Also you probably need to wear a skate that's 1.5 sizes lower than your shoe size. It will feel too tight when you try it on but it's not. Your toes should touch the ends of your boot or it's too big. When I got a smaller skate it helped a lot.
you don't know your actual shoe size if your toes aren't normally close to the end of your shoe my guy
It completely depends on her feet and the brand of shoes skates she’s wearing and buying. I have wider feet so I had to buy a size up for my Powerslides Nexts, the toe touching the end of the boot is not the most important factor in determining fit. She’s better off going into a good skate store and getting advice from people who know the brands and have fitted many skates. I previously had fitness skates that took a lot of adjusting when new, my hard boots fit better and were much more responsive straight out of the box but my toe ain’t touching.
One thing I want to say to beginners is go out 10 times before you give up. The first sessions are really hard and these things will seem impossible. If you just keep practicing your body starts to magically learn them and balance improves. When you first start it's a shock to the system and your body isnt taking in so many new things all at once constantly. As you learn a few things it's less over-whelming.
@@littleripper312 this is so important! I remember my first time on wheels like it was yesterday, I thought I'd never get the hang of it. Persistence is crucial. Thanks for sharing:-)
For me the best way was to cruise on one leg for as long as i could while tucking the raised leg behind your leg at the calve. you cant pronate or supponate (much) when keeping your center of mass above the cruising leg. This gave me strength to do all sorts of basic skills like cross overs, t- brake and later parallell turn. Also once you get strength and balance i try to do the double push when cruising. push off with my right foot raise and tuck behind left foot and cruise on left foot first supponating for the first push and then pronating for the left second push to start cruising on right foot. It helps at first to tighten the ankle cuff tight to stay stabile not pronating or suponating too much and when stronger loosen the cuff to get more ankle control.
Way to go! I’m 58 and just starting out.
@@IMHip2 YES! That's so cool!

The idea to use the broom is both hilarious and brilliant ! I will definitely try this for harder tricks :D !
Go for it! :D
Life was easier in the past, my dad just showed me the "Piza Walk" and I learned everything else alone, because I wanted to. Now, unless you can teach your children how to do a double back flip first try in one day, they say it's boring. Nothing fun and exciting comes in first try, it comes with persistence and desire to learn and get better. Good tips, will try to show some of them and see if they wake up the interest.
@@justjordan8018 ohh yeah, I hear you! Some people just need a little motivation from someone that is overflowing with it :-)

I wonder if it’s really just because it’s a factor they can’t control. I actually believe that there are many people that would stop going all together if they were forced to wear a helmet. But I really don’t know 🤷♂️

Dogs! Yes,,,, Dogs 🐕 😮😒☹️ too many of them in CA & their owners use the bungee leashes & they can run after you for 20 feet 😤😳 I try to avoid the dogz!
@@HeadNtheClouds yikes! 😭 a real test at speed!
@@shannon.skates I had to really change the way I skate during the busy summer months. I look before I leap & try to scout out the stretch of the path I am cruising down before I start rolling. I would rather hang out a bit & wait for the obstructions (e-bikes & dogs) to pass before I can skate the way I want to because it’s more enjoyable than to try & deal with the potential bad situations. I have had some bad close calls & actually an ATV ran into me & caused me to land on my shoulder, breaking it in 2 places 😭 it took a year to heal. I will be glad when schools start again & I can have the beaches back to mostly myself 🤗 Be safe out there! I think 70% of rollerblading is being able to judge situations & know in your head what you need to do & the potential option of quickly making a decision if your planned course changes quickly. 😳 head on a swivel! It’s 70% a mental game for sure 😏
