    I like a quick unboxing. Nothing worse than watching somebody struggle with the tape on the box, lol. Great little gadget, that will save so much time.

    Used one of those for the 3 years I worked in a restaurant kitchen back in the 80s. 👍
    It was mounted to the wall. We also had a wedger. It worked the same way but the cutters were in a pie shape. You put a lemon in it, pull down and 5 perfect lemon wedges fell into a bowl. You could wedge 2 dozen lemons in less than 5 minutes. I also use it for tomato wedges.

    Just got back from my local thrift store. A brand new One was on the shelf for 8.99. I would not have known what it was, thanks for showing us yours. Mine now has a place on my kitchen counter. Can’t wait to get some Idahos.

    Good morning Toni and Mark. Yippee for Cabelas! We go to the Barrie store all the time for vac bags, seasonings, camping stuff. Was happy to get one of the last meat grinders and proper food grade silicone. Got a deal on our fire pit/cooking stove. Every year at Boxing Day (prior to Pandemic) Cabelas gave the first 100 customers a gift card from $25.00 to $100.00 . We always arrived early enough before 6:00 a.m. and lined up, sometimes in the
    cold. We both got cards and one time scored $75,00! WTG Mark on the fish. Our supplier's prices have gone up so we buy on a hit n miss basis to keep our 3 freezers stocked. No room for French Fries but have plenty of dehydrated, diced, and scalloped put away. We planted Kennebecs this year vs. Red potatoes, around 50 hills that we share with our neighbors.Toni did you notice that the Shrimp price went up too? Well worth it I guess for a garlic shrimp stir fry or Jambalay. Take care.

    Cabela's has awesome stuff! Their bags for vacuum sealing can't be beat. I've never had a seal failure unlike some cheaper ones from Amazon. Can't wait to see your new fry cutter in action!

    Hi Mark and Toni! You will like this tool, because it slices fried so easily. We have a French Fry cutter just like your new one and we use it often. When we go to gatherings we make fries and everyone enjoys them.

    That's a nice one! Mine will handle larger potatoes than your small one, but not nearly as big as yours. I also like that handle configuration. Looks like it'll do bigger potatoes with less physical labor. A trick I learned with mine is to cut a large potato in half lengthwise. It'll fit my cutter better and take less effort than a potato twice the size. You're tempting me. 😇 Local grocery has russet potatoes on sale starting today 2 5 lb bags for $5.00 US. I bought a bunch of them, canned & dehydrated, even cooked some in a solar cooker. Now I want to do more, but I'm running out of nookes and crannies to stash them.
    Looking forward to seeing you put that cutter through its paces. BTW, once they go through the cutter, if you keep them together, they are fairly easy to cut crosswise to end up with diced potatoes, too.

    I tried sweet potatoes and it was too hard to slice them. Also on page 8 of instructions, it says "Do not lubricate with cooking oil - it will cause the unit to get sticky". Use a food grade silicone spray #54-1250 from Cabelas.

    Enjoyed the Vid Toni and Mark. Good to have some man vid with my morning coffee. My only question is are we sure that's a fry cutter and not a log splitter? Looks tough enough to process some maple or oak. Don't know if the instructions were off camera, but can appreciate Mark,real men don't need instructions if a tool box is handy.

    That's wonderful, you can do anything with that size, sweet potatoes, carrot sticks. Oh I'm so Happy for you I love new gadgets that make things easier. Take your apple peeler where it just takes the skin off and slide in the big slicer and wham you got the hardest work out of the way. Thank you for the unveiling.

    Just an idea that may make your life easier; I used to work at a restaurant and the kitchen had one of these fry cutters attached to a wall and that was really easier to use for the girls.
    Keep up the good work

    Peel your potatoes for French fries?
    I worked at a Wienerschnitzal back in the 70s we had one of those wall mounted to crush onion, you can guess who always seemed to be the one turning a 50 pound bag of onions into buckets of crushed onions for your hot dogs.
    Peel your potatoes! 🤔🤔
    Thanks for the look see at the cutter, just don't eat enough potatoes anymore to make sense to buy one.
    Did you really say peel your potatoes to make French Fries??

    • @HerHomesteadSkills
      @HerHomesteadSkills  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes I did say that, but no-one HAS to peel their potatoes...

Love your information and how tos. one question so you have to peel the potatoes I like to leave peel on whenever I can?

    • @HerHomesteadSkills
      @HerHomesteadSkills  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      lol...no you can leave the peel on if you like...I looked at all the peelings and said to myself...what a waste, but I like them peeled!

      @@HerHomesteadSkills thank you for answering my question I know one can use peels in the garden or compost bin but a peeled potato just looks so naked. In england they even refer to baked potatoes with their peel as potatoes in their jackets. wouldn't want those potatoes to be cold.
