Sweeping volo’s base team with a shiny lopunny has to be the most alpha thing I’ve seen this week
That Lopunny sweep was so dumb but it worked out and I love it.
Making Cynthia's encounter piano theme into Volo's battle theme was the best decision GameFreak ever made when it comes to music.
Also the "PSYCHE! THIS ISN'T EVEN MY FINAL FORM!" moment was SO AWESOME, and of course the cutscene with Volo and Giratina is so amazingly cinematic. Freaking coolest battle ever.
Also hate to disappoint you, but if George and Sakura have an egg together, it will be a Petilil, and those are only female, so Phil would technically never be born from those parents (unless George's nitro powers overrides that).
EDIT: The last part was not meant as offense, I was just stating a fact of how Pokémon works in regards of female-only Pokémon, when realistically their offspring SHOULD be a hybrid of the parents' species, or perhaps being either or, like how Lady and the Tramp has a bunch of cocker spaniel pups and one terrier pup (and for some reason the spaniels are all girls while the terrier is the only boy, matching their parents' genders).
Someone explained it might be George's special nitro powers that overrides the female-only offspring rule here, allowing a Cyndaquil to be born instead, and I accept that explanation.
I just like to make sense of stuff when something contradicts established rules in certain universes. I like consistency, and if something is inconsistent, I need an explanation for why, so I can understand.
After all, explanations makes the world and characters feel more thought-out, makes the lore feel deeper and more interesting, right?
here is my interpretation of his head canon. Due to George being divine blessed, his Hisuian Lilligant now has a decent chance of Hatching his Purple Cyndaquil on his other play through

The passion, the raw emotions I feel when I look at this art, it's more than a picture, it's a story. A story with hope, love, excitement and tragedy. Volo's battle was INSANE. My Umbreon, Galaxy, was my saving grace against Giratina. Without him, I would've lost the battle on my first attempt.

Your pokemon sacrificing themselves so that you can survive is... an amazing way to bring story and heartbreak into a nuzlocke where you're in as much danger as your pokemon. Bravo Moxie, your art is amazing and the divine blessing of arceus allowing Phil to be born in the future was a masterstroke

Bird Keeper Toby has an excellent theory on that Volo scene. Volo fell through that space time rift just like you did. He actually came from the past and was defeated by that hero that is probably Alder from Unova who is depicted in many of the homes of the diamond and pearl clans. When Volo was defeated in his time, he jumped in the space time rift and came to this one. He will no doubt go in the rift once more to try his luck again, hoping Arceus' next champion won't be as strong

There's no other way to describe it. This is a masterpiece.
In all my years of watching TH-cam, i have never seen anything like this. The perfectly timed effects and glitches, the surprisingly good voice acting considering it's only coming from one guy, the sublime fanart of some of the most tragic deaths Iv'e ever seen, all glued together by the greatest OST I've ever had the joy of experiencing.
But by far the greatest element of this story is how it ties every nuzloke before together. Jaiden and George ascended to godhood and got to meet the almighty Greg, Phil being the product of George and Sakura, who sent their egg into the future (probably via Dialga, since they know each other now) knowing that future Moxie would somehow find it. It's some of the best storytelling Iv'e ever seen a TH-cam video.
The most impressive thing about this is how it manages to make you feel. I must have cried at least 3 times watching this (Bean's death, Aura's sacrifice, and the end), and i'm not someone who breaks easily.
In opinion, this easily blows every other nuzloke I've watched out of the water (even Jaiden's masterfully crafted Platinum loke).
This video is what truly made me fall in love with pokemon, and gave me the motivation to complete the second BDSP rematches. Moxie, I can't thank you enough for this sublime piece of art.
(I also named my lucario Aura before I even found this. Just thought that was funny).

I've played this game from start to finish at least thirty different times now (I really like the game if you can't tell) and this video, the way it's edited and the nuzlocke rules really made me feel just as energized and amazed as the first time I played. Excellent work, Moxie!
Coming back to this a year later, it’s insane how much effort you put into each and every detail of your content, especially the continuity between videos. How do you improvise a better story than most people with full scrips?
These are always the kinds of TH-camrs that I enjoy the most. The ones that, despite the algorithm begging them not to, really take the time and effort required to bring their amazing ideas to life.
Someday soon, I think I’ll do a full analysis of (my interpretations of) the Volo fight, since there’s so much to say just about that part alone.
So look forward to that.

Oh wow, the end of this video hit me kinda hard. I'm sure it's because of the beautiful artwork you've used to tell the story, I legit cried at the sacrifice. Alright, I promised that I would do this a while back, and ended up procrastinating for a full month, so that’s fun.
But now that the holidays are over, and my Clubstep practice is coming to a close (69% currently), I can finally get to work on this.
So without further ado, may I present my interpretations of the Moxie2D Volo fight.
I really, REALLY love how this fight was executed. With one minor nitpick I’ll go into later, I think this might be your most well-put together (human battle) sequence so far for a myriad of reasons, the most obvious being the special effects and glitches. They’re so seamlessly woven into the gameplay, and so brilliantly sell the danger of the situation. If I’m not mistaken, it was Arceus that was speaking through those glitched text boxes. In other words, even GOD HIMSELF feared what this guy was capable of. His skill was so far ahead of his time that Arceus literally needed to pluck the best trainer from hundreds of years later out of the space-time continuum and drop them right in front of him just to make sure the world had a fighting chance. What Volo lacked in allies compared to Cyrus, he more than made up for with individual firepower.
Speaking of the fight itself, the Senpai sweep was honestly a genius idea, for a surprising amount of reasons. While I do think the idea of a single Pokemon sweep diffused some of the tension, it doesn’t really matter, since not only was it hilarious, it almost felt like an act of defiance against your own chat. In this and the SP hardcore nuzloke, everyone looked on the moment you caught Lopunny as a certified SFK moment. This fight was the complete antithesis of that, showing that the anime rabbit is more than just fodder for sus jokes.
Not only that, but the method used was thematically accurate as well, masterfully utilizing Senpai’s perfect two-move coverage, along with his one great stat: his speed. The strategy worked especially well for this fight in particular, since while Cynthia’s team is a more balanced style, Volo’s functions like a hyperoffensive wave, designed to brutally crush the opponent as fast as possible, with moves like petal dance and raging fury used to surgically remove specific pokemon, and making perfect use of the game’s unique battle style. And like a real wave, trying to hold it back is useless. Your only hope of survival is to ride the wave, barely outpacing it’s ever-growing momentum.
And that’s exactly how Senpai managed to pull it off. Not by tanking their hits, or hitting hard himself, but by just barely staying ahead of them, perfectly utilizing his blistering speed and superior levels, long enough to wear them down into kill range. However, as was shown, the strategy didn’t work perfectly, as Volo’s Garchomp managed to score a solid hit just before dropping. He wouldn’t be battling much longer anytime soon, but that didn’t matter. She had finished the job. Volo was defeated.
Until he wasn’t
This is where things started to get really bad. Not only was Senpai badly injured, not only was his best strategy completely useless here, but this thing was packing aura sphere, which would’ve shredded through Senpai cleanly.
This was why Bean threw himself out against the impossible behemoth that stood before them. He wasn’t the best counter to Giratina himself, but he ended up saving Senpai’s life with that act.
And it cost him dearly.
They thought they were being safe. He was frostbitten and on the verge of a 2HKO. Beam could survive another earth power if required, and he was fast enough to land the last two hits.
However, Giratina didn’t go for earth power.
He vanished from reality, and with one last chilling roar, tore through Bean’s formally unbreakable bulk like a knife through butter.
Honestly, this is probably the second best death scene in the Moxieverse so far (just behind you-know-what). The brutally graphic artwork of his shadow-infested wounds, the somber piano heralding the tragedy (probably my favorite OST usage across all your videos, please use it more), the small “farewell buddy, you did good”, perfectly selling the despair of the moment with only a few words, all culminating in the this beautiful moment when the music swells to it’s climax, and Shy takes her place against the enemy.
What I really like about this part in particular is that the only reason that Shy survived that initial assault is because of the freeze left behind by Bean’s ice punch. Even after he was gone, he still found a way to save everyone.
With a clear path, and a calm mind-boosted ice beam, she finally brought down the monster that cost Bean his life.
EXCEPT HE’S STILL NOT DONE!
Cue take three of this insane sequence, where Giratina is EVEN STRONGER now, and isn’t even frostbitten anymore!
JOY AND HAPPINESS!
Anyway, despite the absurdity of the situation she was in, Shy still managed to emerge victorious, but it wasn’t just because of her. She wouldn’t have survived the first Shadow Force if it wasn’t for Bean, and Bean wouldn’t have even gotten to that point if Senpai hadn’t cleared the way.
And I think that is where this spectacle shines the most: it’s portrayal of the collaboration between the three demigods that took up the impossible challenge of standing against this master trainer and his demonic bouncer. They all had their own part to play in bringing him down.
In my opinion, even with a 6-0 sweep, the fight never seemed too easy or tensionless, and absolutely soared in its thematic storytelling. Probably my third favorite scene in the entire Moxieverse, just behind the Arceus fight immediately after, and the Sequence That Made Everybody Cry (because let’s be honest, no one is ever topping the sheer emotional richness of that sequence).
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: you are on the path to TH-cam greatness, Moxie. The undisputed best PokeTuber on the platform.
