    Thank you for NOT editting out the ground miss. Every install I do ends up with extra parts, and, I have no video running! So, by going back and re-installing, it looks more like a normal install... of anything! Appreciate the extra effort and beginning to see why you like the wheel so much!

      Thanks man. I've been trying to do one video a week, but you know how it goes, life and other boring stuff gets in the way and then things don't always go to plan. I could probably swing a second video a week if it doesn't require much editing, like if you guys want to do Q+A's on a certain car or topic, etc. Or I could try to add a VLOG each week to talk about car plans or what's happening in the garage that week.

    Do suede steering wheels 'really' last for street use? Or do they look awesome for 6 months then it time for a new wheel again?

    • @magnetic0314
      @magnetic0314 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cai Allen they get ratty really quickly. And theyre much less grippy than a decent leather wheel on bare hands. They're intended for use with gloves for rally or track driving but it's just another carryover trend that makes no sense.

    • @TheSlipAngle
      @TheSlipAngle  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I haven't used one with a car that I drive daily, however I have had suede wheels in a few of the cars for years now and have found that the key to keeping them clean is to minimize the exposure to oils on your hands, so either wear gloves or use anti-bacterial to degrease your hands.

      Thank you for this guide. I split my finger on the metal gasket, they couldn't debutr the edges down? Lol. Also had the quick disconnect installed upside down the first time haha. However, I still get srs light. Mine is ap1 and the airbag wires were not thick like the ones on yours so I couldn't jam the resistor prongs into the wire, guess the connection I made was not good, gotta get back in there. Any pointers?

    Hi, thank you so much for this very detailed video. I'm having a problem with my resistors though. I did exactly every step you had mentioned, but my SRS light keeps coming on. I even reset the SRS light around 10 times and still no luck. I am using the resistors supplied to me by works bell and I connected it in the same location you did.

    • @TheSlipAngle
      @TheSlipAngle  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The NRG kit comes with 2 resistors and I think they do that in case 1 of them doesn't work. Did you try both of yours? Are you sure its not coming loose some how?

    • @TheSlipAngle
      @TheSlipAngle  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks bud. Which quick release are you using? The coating ones will not conduct the circuit, hence why I had to perform the modification I did on this with the horn button ground.

    • @Xene106
      @Xene106 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am using the NRG quick release. I actually solved the problem and my horn works. Make sure you plug in 2 connectors to SRS spin unit. I didn't have 1 plugged in due to a stealthy spot. I have it disconnected previously since I had a generic NRG hub instead of cutout one you recommended. Great video though solved the horn problem for me.

    • @TheSlipAngle

    Just brought a Neo Grinta 350mm in Leather. I wish to mimmick your setup but on a NC MX5/Miata, am I right to say that you used a PCD adapter to make the NRG work with the Nardi/Personal bolt placement? Really hope you reply! :)

    • @TheSlipAngle

      The NRGs bolt up to most aftermarket steering wheel hubs. This one is mated to an NRG hub, but I also have them mated to my Mazdas using Dakei hubs.

    Does the suede wear down?

    • @TheSlipAngle
      @TheSlipAngle  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does if you are not careful about the oils on your hands. Degreasing with antibacterial helps before driving.

    • @MaXGTS1
      @MaXGTS1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Suede and alcantara wheels are meant for track use with racing gloves. If you don't use gloves your wheel will very quickly get greasy and matted down from the naturally occurring oils on your hands.

    I was trying to install the same hub to my 99 civic si followed the installation properly specially the resistor part but my srs light is still on. Any advice on where did i go wrong?

    • @TheSlipAngle
      @TheSlipAngle  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is possible that your resistor might be bad. I think this is why they give you two with the kits. With the S2000, if you trigger the SRS light, you have to do a manual reset procedure using jumpers. The light won't clear automatically if you complete the circuit again. You may have to do the same with your SI.

    How do you like the setup so far? Also do you feel like the wheel is at the same position or is it closer to you.

    • @TheSlipAngle
      @TheSlipAngle  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      So far it's not bad. I almost think I can do with a slightly shorter hub to push the wheel forward a pinch. This setup puts the wheel closer to you than stock.

    • @TheSlipAngle

      Do you mean so I can re-install the factory wheel if I ever needed to? If you get the wheel nice and straight before removing it, the amount of travel the wheel will move before engaging the teeth again is enough to see that you are not putting it on straight.

    I installed my full NRG setup (including steering wheels) but it's tilted, is that an alignment issue or should I take everything out and follow ur steps?

    • @TheSlipAngle
      @TheSlipAngle  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tilted as in not centered when the wheels are straight? You can try moving the hub over one notch on the steering shaft spline, but your front toe could also be off a little as well.

    • @shehabamr
      @shehabamr 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      when the car is moving the steering is tilted to the left a little bit in order to go straight basically... i half assed the installation cuz i put it on when i was picking up the car

    • @TheSlipAngle
      @TheSlipAngle  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would try moving the hub over one notch. It that doesn't get it straight, toe is probably off a pinch. Nothing an alignment can't fix!

      @TheSlipAngle  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you go through the reset procedure to clear the original SRS light? Also, NRG includes 2 resistors with each hub and part of me thinks that they do this because of the likely hood one may be bad.

  • @aisu8481

    Trick for putting the ground wire out of the way: the wire will snugly squeeze between the blue cap and the body. holds the end in the air

  • @izzycroptik
    @izzycroptik 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just as I was seriously considering an NGR QR you uploaded this video XD However something is stopping me from getting one on my NA Miata. I'm 6'3" and I have a flat steering wheel with a 65mm hub. My current setup just puts the steering wheel under my wrists with my stock seats fully pushed backwards. By the look of the setup you got (which what I also wanted to get) it looks like the steering wheel is pushed further into you and that would be too close for me I think :(

    • @TheSlipAngle
      @TheSlipAngle  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They have a slim quick release option that might be suitable for ya, but I do not have any experience with it. The short hub for the S2000 alone would keep the wheel too far away. The Gen 1 QR I used spaces the wheel towards me just about right.

      Aw man, sorry Rudy. One of these days I'd like to get around to adding CCs to them. All my cars that have aftermarket wheels in them are 350mm. The Personal wheels like this have a taller overall diameter then say a Momo 350mm because of the beefier brim thickness. I think 350mm is the perfect size for most sports cars. Not too big, not too small, but just right :)

      Hey Rudy, so you do not have a clock spring assembly? Did your car have the wheel installed when you bought it? If you do not get a hub that has a notch for the wiring coming out of the clock spring, it is possible that someone removed the assembly to get around this. You should be able to pickup a used assembly cheap, but you may have to change the steering wheel hub to one that has clearance for the clock spring plug.

    Should have used shrink wrap instead of tape on the airbag resistor

    calls a stock OEM honda badge "ricer looking". what are you on man?

      Stock Honda badge is not ricer, I just don't like it plastered in the center of my steering wheel. I like the OEM Ap1 steering wheel better or the later 06+ where they used a chrome outline of the Honda emblem on the airbag.

    Hi, do you have any idea into how I can get rid of an srs light? Im using nrg’s srs resistor and somehow my srs light still pops up. I’ve tried resetting it using the srs reset procedure but once I start the car, srs light comes back..
